I love the Original Source range and always end up buying the new 'flavours' as and when I come across them. After running out of my stash of Lush bath goodies I wanted some basic bubble bath and I was pleased to discover several types of Original Source bath foam in Poundland. I picked up one of each variety available including this Black Pepper and Chilli Bath Foam. The RRP is £2.20 for a 500ml bottle, but mine cost me just £1.00 which was a real bargain.
Product description: "Did you know that professional runners have ice baths after racing to prevent and ease sore muscles? Here at Original Source we have come up with a pretty good alternative to the ice bath that's a bit warmer! We have mixed black pepper with little Habanero chillis which score between 100,000 and 350,000 on the Scoville Scale (that's a measurement of the spicy heat) to make a new original source bath experience. Pour out to create one reviving bath."
The bath foam comes in a clear plastic bottle which allows the liquid to show through. This is good because it allows you to see exactly how much you have left. The bottle looks like an old-fashioned milk bottle which is cute and has a screw top lid which is easy to use. The neck of the bottle is quite wide and I found that due to the thick jam-like consistency of the bubble bath it was difficult to control when pouring out into the bath, as it flowed very rapidly and I ended up with far more than needed. Take care and go slowly when dispensing!
The bath foam has a deep red colour to it that transfers into the water and creates a somewhat odd blood-bath sort of effect! It gives off a really great scent that is rich and spicy. I find that this has a real effect on me and leaves me feeling rejuvenated and energised. I like to use this bath foam at the end of the day especially after I've been exercising as it both eases my body and helps me to wind down, as well as helping to make me refreshed and ready for action again.
The bath foam produces a nice large amount of bubbles, which are long lasting and stay through the duration of my baths. I think this product is a good all-rounder, with the only exception being that it doesn't seem to have any sort of moisturising effect on my skin. I would definitely buy it again as I think it works really well and the scent is super effective and really different to the girly bath products that I normally use.
This is a vegan product and Original Source are against animal testing - please keep your beauty cruelty free!
When it comes to bath products I always seem to be buying them when ever I hit a shop. This is because I bath every day due to having no shower in my flat!
With me I always tend to go for branded items and the places I usually buy them is in Wilkinson's, Poundland or whichever supermarket I'm in when I suddenly realise I'm running low!
However the other day I was in Boots and pleased to see a promotion on loads of toiletries with it being buy two products get one free, especially when I saw this was on offer at £1.25 a bottle meaning I got 3 bottles for just £2.50! Thats what I call nifty shopping that is and I do so love a bargain!
The bottle this comes in is very simple indeed. Its made from see-through plastic with a black twist on/off cap/lid to the top of it which conceals a large hole and the on the front of it we are told that it is Original Source 'Reviving' Black Pepper And Chilli Bath 'Packed With Natural Stuff'. On the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, the ingredients are listed (this is suitable for Vegans by the way) as is the size which is 500ml and contact details for PZ Cussons (the manufacturer of the product) are given.
Well of course all you do with this dark red and transparent very runny gel is to use a small amount and add water to it then add yourself! This turned my water a very light pink colour and when I say to add a small amount I mean really do add a very smal amount! This gave me loads and loads of thick white foam like I'd used too much and I really didn't think I was heavy handed with it so a little of this goes a very long way indeed so it is very economical in the long run, especailly if picking it up cheap as I did!
The scent of this isn't what I was expecting it to be at all considering its called black pepper and chilli! It is a unisex one this and it is very pungent and hard to describe. It does have a hint of pepperyness to it which gives it a warm feel, I cant smell chilli's in it mind you but I tend to think thats a good thing and not a bad lol. Its slightly spicy and cant be described as floral or fruity. I'd say it was like a spicy sea fresh smell!
The smell of this, to me never revived me as such I just felt relaxed and loved the aroma of it which along with the foam I created lingered for wellover an hour as I like to have a good soak per bath.
When I came out of the bath my skin smelt wonderful, fresh and clean for a good few hours. I wouldnt say that this moisturised my skin or anything like that but my skin sort of felt like its usual self really but no worse.
All In All:
I'm not usually a fan of Original Source products but I do like this one and will certainly purchase it again. It has a lovely and very unusual fragrance to it that I enjoy bathing in and smelling of afterwards and it doesn't upset my skin at all! Nice one Original Source!
This is available in all good supermarkets and chemists at around £2.00 a bottle, though it is on offer in Boots at the moment!
