My boyfriend and I have come away for the Christmas and New Year break and on the first day, we realised we had forgotten to pack any shower gel. So on out first visit into town I dragged him into Wilkinson as I find it very hard to beat that place on prices on most toiletries. We were browsing the shower gel section, and there were four or five Original Sources on display. I have tried a couple of these in the past and have always liked them, and of course I have read plenty of dooyoo reviews of others! We picked a couple of bottles - this review is of their lime fragrance. The shower gel is, as you would guess, lime green in colour and it comes in a triangular plastic bottle which is clear plastic so you are able to see how much you have left. The bottle has a black plastic flip top cap and the bottle stands upside down in your shower on its head. This is great for dispensing shower gel as it means all of the product is resting on the opening ready for just the slightest squeeze to get it out. Unfortunately though it also means that a little bit of water catches in the upside down flip top and so you get a small shot of cold water down your leg when you open the bottle up the next time. Wakes you up though! So the gel comes out easily enough with a light squeeze as it is not one of those really thick and gloopy gels. Of course it smells of limes - the bottle says that there are 40 limes packed into one bottle and judging by the smell, I can well believe it. The smell actually reminds me of that lime marmalade in the old fashioned jar that my grandma used to always have. The gel is wonderfully zingy - if this won't wake you up in the morning I don't know what will. A 50 p piece size of this gel lathered up well and really woke up my senses. Sadly though, the beautiful fragrance didn't last on my skin for as long as I would have liked, unlike the mint one of this range which does seem to linger. A 250 ml bottle of this cost me just £1 in Wilkinson although I stopped at Superdrug in the town too and it seeks to sell in there for around £2.30. So get to Wilkos!! I will definitely be buying this again as it smells great and at £1 you just can't beat it!
What can I say, I love this Original Source lime shower gel - it has such a zingy, refreshing fragrance and a really bright, vibrant colour. As it tells you on the bottle, 40 limes go into each one, and it really comes across in the beautiful smell! I also love the consistency of the shower gel, it's quite thick so doesn't slip right through your fingers like some others can when you're applying them in the shower. What's more, as it's often on offer (either half price or BOGOF), it usually works out to about £1 a bottle, which I think is great value. The packaging is simple and easy to use - you know how some bottles can be a bit tough, making it a struggle to squeeze out the contents, well, none of this here, and as the product is dispensed from the bottom of the bottle, gravity is on your side too. The only slight annoyance (and I think this is true of all bottle-based toiletries) is that it can be a struggle to get the last little bit out of the bottle - to combat this I just add a little water and shake it all around. It might mean a slightly diluted wash but you still get a nice lather and the satisfaction of actually using all of a product! If lime isn't your thing then there are lots of other varieties of Original Source shower gel available, including lemon & tea tree and vanilla milk & raspberry (another of my favourites!)
I usually prefer creamy and moisturising shower products which leave me feeling pampered but along side this I recently purchased a different type for my boyfriend to share on our holiday. I chose the Lime Shower Gel by Original Source. What does the product do? The main aim of the product is to cleanse the body leaving you feeling both fresh and clean. It has been with essential oils and as it proudly states on the front, it contains 40 'real zingy limes.' The product is vegan friendly and it has a natural fragrance thanks to the limes. It packed full of natural ingredients which promise to leave your skin refreshed and healthier. The product in plenty of different varieties so if Lime isn't your thing then there are others that you can try. Appearance and Packaging The product comes contained within a mostly clear but slightly cloudy bottle through which you can see the product inside. It has a black flip top lid on which it can stand and there is some basic information given on the front and the back of the bottle in big black writing. The product comes at around £1 per bottle and it can be bought from stores such as Superdrug, Boots, large supermarkets and also from a range of online websites. Application and Performance The product is bright green in colour which I assume comes from the limes. You can see it clearly through the bottle and it does look quite nice on display. The aroma of the product is strong without being overpowering. It really just smells of the lime being zingy as promised and citrus fresh. I really like it and I find it to be invigorating and awakening. When used with a sponge, it works up a good lather which leaves you feeling fresh and clean. Without using a sponge, you get a few bubbles as you work the product into the body but nothing much. The aroma is evident the whole time and it smells really nice. The product is easy to apply to the bottle and the formula feels gentle and comfortable on my skin. The shower gel hasn't caused me to experience any irritations or discomfort. It is easy to rinse off my body once I have finished. It doesn't dry out my skin and it leaves me feeling just as fresh and as clean as promised. The lovely aroma lingers lightly on the skin for quite a while after use. A little goes a long way with this product so as well as it being cheap, it is long lasting too so you will definitely get your money's worth. Conclusion All in all, I really like this product. It smells delicious, looks eye catching and it's good to know that there are natural products within it. It feels comfortable on the skin and it leaves me feeling fresh and clean for ages. I will definitely be trying some of the others in the collection.
I have used original Source Lime Shower gel a few times lately., though I didn't buy this, my husband did. I use his shower gels every now and again and to be honest, I still cannot really make up my mind whether or not I like this one or not. It's certainly a shower gel which is going to wake you up in the morning and if you find it difficult to feel perky first thing on a Monday morning, then use this and you'll be sure to be wide wake in minutes. The bottle is clear plastic and stands on its head so that the contents run to the bottom, which is ideal packaging for shower gel, as far as I am concerned. The contents come out easily enough, even though the gel itself is quite thick in consistency. I am not at all sure about the lurid lime green / yellow colour of this gel, however, and I think this is what puts me off slightly. It looks like it might glow in the dark and there's certainly no fear of missing it when it sits on the bathroom shelf. The smell is what I'd describe as refreshing (massively so), uplifting, tangy, very zesty and very limey. Not everyone will like this smell and it may even be a bit of an acquired taste, but it has a lot going for it in terms of waking the senses and being very invigorating. It's not a shower gel I would choose to use last thing at night before bed as I think this is possibly slightly too invigorating. The smell lasts a decent enough amount of time on the skin after a shower, it foams well, rinses off nicely and whilst I cannot really say it offers any moisturising properties, it does cleanse the skin well and leaves it feeling fresh and clean. Its cheap at only 99p in Poundland at the moment and whilst there are a number of different fragrances in this range, this seems to be the current favourite as far as my husband is concerned at the moment. I do enjoy using it, but only occasionally, as I personally prefer something a little less 'in my face' than this particular shower gel, but it's nice to use every now and again. The colour puts me off slightly, but other than this, it's fine.
Original source is widely available in chemists like Boots, Superdrug and Savers and in supermarkets like Tesco, Asda etc. It's also sometimes in Poundland and the 99p Shop. The prices go up and down but when it's on offer for a pound, I like to buy it for the strong scent and because it's just a no-nonsense shower gel for when I just want to use a simple, no-fuss product. I bought this because I quite like strong smelling shower gels which fill the bathroom with an uplifting scent in the mornings to wake me up. I sniffed this in the shop and it was very tangy and citrus smelling. I also smelled the lemon and tea tree one which was also very strong, I really prefer lime to lemon so I chose this. The packaging is quite striking, with hard lines and big chunky lettering, the bottle is clear plastic so it shows the very bright and vivid colour of the shower gel through it. The lid is on the bottom of the bottle which I love because it makes it easier when you're coming to the end of a bottle. It's definitely designed for both females and males, there is nothing girly about how the bottle looks but it also isn't particular geared towards men like a Lynx shower gel for example. Instead, it focuses on the flavour of the shower gel and it is no-nonsense and simple. The lime green coloured shower gel squeezes out of the bottle easily, instantly hitting you with the strong, tangy lime smell. The texture is thick and not runny like some shower gels which can be messy and tend to spill out of my hands which is just a waste. It is easy to use and spread because it is quite thick, although it isn't one of those jelly textured ones which don't drip even when you turn your hand upside down. It's a nice, medium consistency with enough thickness to be easy to manage. It lathers up nicely and spreads easily over the skin. The smell is a very tangy lime, but not sour or bitter. It has enough sweetness to make sure it doesn't smell sour but it is mostly zingy and fresh. It's a very refreshing smell and really does wake me up in the mornings, it is strong and fills the bathroom with the lovely scent, I really do like the smell of this shower gel. It's my favourite smelling Original Source shower gel out of the ones I have tried. This shower gel doesn't claim to have any great skin benefits. It does clean the skin well though and it doesn't dry mine out. It leaves my skin feeling nice and clean and refreshed, it doesn't moisturise or anything like that but it doesn't market itself as that kind of product anyway so I can't complain. When I first used this I was wondering if it might dry my skin out, the bright colour and the strong smell don't exactly say skin-friendly but I haven't had any dryness from this shower gel. I'd definitely recommend this if you like strong, tangy smells. This is suitable for women and men as well as young people. The scent and colour are fun and fresh. This is available for about £1 quite often and I would definitely say it's one of the better shower gels out there for that price.
First up, using this was a happy accident - I don't usually choose my shower gel in such vivid colours and I certainly don't pick them for their lovely citrous undertones or subtle floral notes. I use Lynx shower gel which smells nice and blokey and does exactly what it promises on the bottle. However, I must have forgotten that I didn't buy that magic 'bottomless' Lynx shower gel and to remind myself to pick up some more, because a few weeks ago it ran out. So there I was in the shower with a choice between a bar of soap and a bright green concoction at 'her' side of the bath. I opted for the green squeezy bottle. What is it? --------------- Original Source shower gel; a fair-trade, ethically balanced cosmetics company which uses almost all natural products sourced (where possible) from UK sources to reduce their carbon footprint. I must say, their website makes quite interesting reading. This is the Lime shower gel if you hadn't gathered from the picture, but they do dozens of different ones as well as limited run seasonal stuff. Any good? --------------- The first thing that struck me when I opened the bottle is how sweet it smells. Other reviews state that this is quite tangy and powerfully citrus but I didn't get that at all. The first thought I had was of chocolate limes - the very sweet synthetic taste that they give lime flavoured sweets. The bottle was easy enough - a flip cap at the bottom so you always have the gel pooled around the base, so it doesn't need violently shaking or squeezing to death before you get anything out. The gel itself was great. A nice thick consistency but very easy to spread around with none of the putty-like feeling some of the designer gels have. It foamed up a little bit, but not much really. That wasn't an issue though as my usual Lynx stuff reacts just the same - I'm not one for soaking in the stuff, just a quick scrub and rinse! Rinsing it off was equally straightforward. It didn't stick or feel like it'd turned to jelly and have to be peeled away (talking to you here, Dove!) and rinsed away leaving my skin clean and soft with no residue and no dryness. Ticks in every box so far. Recommended? -------------------- Definitely. Like I said, I wouldn't usually choose this for myself, but after using it I suspect my wife might find she gets through this bottle faster than she expected. (shhh!) Where can I get some? ---------------------------- Anywhere! All the large supermarkets stock Source and prices vary wildly for a 250ml bottle from £2.50 at full price to £1 on special offer, though it can usually be bought somewhere in the middle (often on a special offer - 3 for 2 etc). I've seen it in pound shops and discount shops as well, though I suspect choice will be limited. Summary. ------------- This is great stuff. I can't really knock any stars off after my (admittedly limited) experience of Source shower gel though I do have to question their claims that 40+ limes go into every bottle. Once again the cynic in me thinks that perhaps 40 limes per batch sounds more likely, meaning I get 0.01% of a lime and lots of colours and essences to top up my bottle. Still, can;t argue with results and this performed admirably. Full marks Source, keep it up! K
I love Original Source, a brand of bath and shower products that pride themselves on using quality natural ingredients and on not testing on animals. I especially love the fact that you can now purchase most of the range in pound shops, which makes them lovely and affordable. I used to only buy the bubble bath products, but since I now live in a house with a shower I really enjoy using the shower gels, an they wake me right up in the morning. One of the range that is particularly zingy and energising is the Original Source Lime Shower Gel, which like the majority of the shower ranges comes in a clear wedge shaped bottle that stands on a flat black lid. It doesn't come with a hanging hook, which I personally think would be a very handy touch in the shower, as it would mean not having to pick up the bottle with wet hands. The lid itself is a simple flip job, and easy to open even if your hands are wet. The gel is a gorgeous yellow green colour, really bright and vibrant. It squeezes out of the bottle with ease, though it isn't so runny as to go everywhere making a mess. It smells very strongly of fresh tangy lime, but without that bitter pithy scent. It's sharp, but also sweet smelling, and it really does make me feel wide awake in the morning. Each bottle apparently contains 40 freshly squeezed limes, so no wonder the scent is strong. This lathers up wonderfully, and rinses off easily, leaving the scent behind. I love the scent of this, and especially on cold grey days it really is nice to catch that whiff of lime every so often, making me think of sunshine! The scent lingers a good few hours. This leaves me feeling really clean, and very awake. It doesn't dry my skin out, but it doesn't add anything to it either - it's just a no fuss, citrus scented shower gel, and I can't fault it. 5 stars!
I don't like flowery smelling shower gels, so when I first saw this I had to give it a try and now I'm hooked. Original Source Lime Shower Gel should have come with a government health warning it's so addictive. As soon as you open the cap you're hit with an intense lime smell which stays around for a good few hours once you're out of the shower. The gel is thick and rich, so a little goes a long way and leaves your skin feeling soft and refreshed. If ever there was a shower gel with a built in alarm clock then this is it as you'll get out of the shower ready to face whatever the day throws at you. The bottle is see through making it easy to see when you're nearing the end and as you stand it on the cap, all the gel flows to the opening it makes it easy to use every last drop cutting down on wastage. The bottle contains 250ml and is quite an easy one to hold as it tapers and has a slightly rough feel so that it's easier to grip with wet hands. The bottle says that there are 40 real limes squeezed into every one and believe me, you can definitely smell everyone. I tend to buy it when it's on offer at £1 but normally you can buy it almost anywhere for between £1.00 and £2.50.
I buy this when it's on offer for £1 - otherwise it's about £2, and I get through it so quickly that I don't like to spend this much on it. It is normally on offer in various supermarkets, Superdrug or Boots. As you can see it comes in a tall bottle, which is upside down, meaning that all the product travels down to the bottom so it is easy to get every last bit out! It is bright green in colour, and this can be seen through the bottle which is see-through. The colour is what first attracted me to this product as green is my favourite colour and this shade looks incredibly fresh and lively. I am always a fan of citrus scents as I think they smell really clean and refreshing, so once I saw this was lime flavour I had to give it a go. I also think the bottle looks pretty modern as I like the big writing, and it is now easily recognisable as the Original Source brand. As soon as you open this bottle you can smell limes, and once you squeeze some of the gel out it is a really strong smell. I normally use this on a morning to wake myself up and it really works. The smell is so strong and really citrussy, tangy, and so refreshing. The smell stays in my skin for several hours after I've used it. It smells edible to me and I would love to try some but I think it might taste hideous... Texture wise, this is a nice thick gel and it lathers up really well so I dont need to use much - although I do use loads as I love it so much, I have even washed my hair with it a few times. It wasn't the best shampoo ever but it does leave my skin feeling nice and soft, and I feel reall clean after using this too, even if I've only had chance for a quick shower. I have tried a few supermarket copies of this kind of product and althought I like them they are never quite the same as the Original Source version. The bottle size is 250ml and contains 40 limes!
Background: Since joining Dooyoo I've found myself being a little more adventurous and wanting to try out more and more products. A few weeks ago I read a review on this particular product and thought I had to try out the product which was pretty daring seeing as I'm not really a fan of lime, in terms of its taste anyway, but from the way they described it it seemed like something I had to try. The product: As I said this product is a Lime shower gel and so as you'd expect it smells very strongly of lime. Before opening it I was a little unsure whether I'd enjoy this fragrance but as soon as I opened the cap I was met with a very powerful zingy scent which was really nice actually and definitely woke me up very early in the morning. The label reads that it is mouthwateringly zingy and while I must admit I'm not foaming at the mouth to try out a lime fruit when using this shower gel, it is a very pleasant smell and also very nice on the skin. The bottle is see through which means I know how much I've got left to use and recyclable also which is another positive as I always like to recycle as much as I can. The cap is pretty sturdy which again is a must as I often have trouble with bottles that leak and make all my bottles of shower gels, shampoos, moisturises etc. sticky. The liquid itself is quite thick and so I do tend to use a little more than I would with any more water based product. However a benefit of this is that I feel that I am getting a much better or more invigorating clean. The liquid lathers up nicely however so a huge amount isn't required and I do feel like I'm truly refreshed once I've used it. The product can be bought in various supermarkets and chemists and I purchased it for £1.59. The highest I've seen it is £2.30 which was online not including shipping but even that I find is very reasonable for an excellent product. Conclusion: Overall this is a very nice product that I would use again. It leaves the skin feeling very soft and while it does not moisturise it per se it does make it feel very silky. The fragrance is its strong point and even for someone like me who isn't even that fond of lime its so strong and has such a fruity pow sense that I didn't mind and I found myself liking it more and more after a couple of uses. It lasts a reasonable amount of time and 250ml is the perfect siized bottle as its not too awkward to use or too heavy (which is a problem for me as I'm a clutz and likely to drop it on my feet a million times!). It feels very natural and looks almost tasty as the colour is so bright. I would recommend.
I'm very regimented when it comes to shower gels, toothpastes etc and have been an avid user of Original Source shower gel for a number of years. The price, sometimes over £2 a bottle, has never put me off. This is because the quality of product, whichever variant of shower gel you choose, is always fantastic. The bottle is plastic and unlike many shower gel bottles, has a flat top which makes it easy to rest it on the side of the bath! Also the dispensing part of the lid stays very clean and through the many bottles of original source shower gel I have used I've never found an issue with the packaging. There are many different smelling shower gels on offer from Original Source and when I saw the "Lime" variant in my local supermarket recently I had to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The smell was not overpowering yet it was strong and left me smelling slightly of limes for a good while after I finished my shower. Obviously this is not good if you're not a fan of limes, fortunately for me I am! I would highly recommend trying out a number of Original Source shower gels and from now on I will be adding the "Lime" version to my list of approved bathroom products!
We discovered the lime shower gel some time ago and loved it.However, recently the wording on the packaging changed and so did the fragrance. It now smells like disinfectant so we have stopped buying it.We checked the ingredients on the old package with the new package, and yes the ingredients have changed.Sorry Cussons, until you change it back, we will not be buying this anymore.
My boyfriend bought this when we went away together. We'd decided to buy toiletries when we got there rather than take them with us, and he chose this shower gel as something that we could both happily use. It was on offer for 99p in Superdrug, the usual price being £2.29. It comes in quite a strange shaped bottle, as you can see from the picture above, but the design is very modern and eyecatching. It is a see-through plastic so you can always easily see when you're running out, and it has a flip top lid which makes it very easy and convenient to use. The gel is, unsurprisingly, a bright lime green colour ans has a very fresh, zingy lime scent which is really uplifting and perfect to help wake you up in the morning. It is quite a thick gel which lathers quickly and creates a lot of lather from just a small amount of gel. It's a nice thick lather that feels really soft and is lovely to use. I find using this not only uplifting but also very refreshing to use, it cleans well and leaves me feeling much fresher than most other gels I've used. The only slight downside for me is that it doesn't really moisturise my skin or leave it feeling soft and smooth, which is something I generally want from a shower gel. However it did leave my boyfriend's skin feeling softer than usual, I assume because he doesn't usually use moisturising ones like I do. Overall I think this is a decent shower gel which is definitely unisex and both me and my boyfriend enjoyed using it, we actually got through over half the bottle in 3 days just because we loved it so we used more than we really needed! Recommended.
This product certainly packs a punch! Like the entire range of original source products this one is definitly in the top three. It has a wonderful refreshing smell and when used in the morning will no doubt wake you up and leave you feeling revatilised and ready for the day ahead of you. Although the colour is a little neon this just adds to the experience. My only critism is the packaging can be difficult to handle when in the shower and it hurts if you drop it on your feet. But overall excellent i would buy again!
I am not brand loyal when it comes to shower gels and normally purchase what is on a good special offer at the time. One of the brands of shower gel that I always keep my eye out for offers on is the Original Source ones. This is because not only are they good quality they also have gorgeous fragrances. When I spotted the range on offer recently in Asda I decided to purchase a fragrance that I had not tried before, Lime. My main reason for choosing this scent over one of the other fragrances is that I thought it sounded really refreshing and thought it might help me to wake up in the morning with a nice refreshing fragrance. Original Source toiletry products contain only natural fragrances. The company aims to source as many of its ingredients for its products as it can in the UK and works closely with the fair-trade foundation and the Vegan society. It also only tests its products on people and not animals. To find out more you can visit there very nice website www.originalsource.co.uk. The shower gel comes in a 250ml bottle and was on a half price special offer at just £1.00 in Asda recently. In my opinion this was a great price and I think I will be stocking up while this offer is on, as the full price is a little out of my budget. The bottle is made of a clear plastic which is smooth on the front and textured on the back. The bottle allows you to be able to see how much of the bright green coloured shower gel is left inside so you can make sure you replace it before it runs out. I do like the way the bottle stands on the flip top cap as it allows the shower gel to be ready to squeeze out straight away rather than having to wait for it to reach the top and shaking the bottle when it is running out. The labels on the front of all Original Source toiletries always have modern block print writing on the front which always contains a fact about the product inside. This Lime shower gel's fact is that '40 real zingy limes are packed into one bottle' to make it just perfect. I love the addition of these little facts as it makes you aware of just how much thought and hard work goes into making a quality product like this. The bottle is also made out of recycled plastic and also has recycle instructions on the back to allow you to do your bit for the planet too. The shower gel itself is easy to get out of the bottle by flipping the black cap open and squeezing the bottle. The shower gel has a rather thick somewhat jellified texture. The bright green almost illuminous colour is slightly off putting at first, a little like green gunge but the wonderful fragrance makes you see past this quickly. You can smell the shower gel as soon as you squeeze it out of the bottle, it has a gorgeous fresh, strong, natural lime fragrance which smells fantastic! I always use my shower gels on a body puff as I like the way it seems to make the shower gel foam up a little more and also helps to exfoliate my skin a little. I have found that this shower gel does not lather up as much as some do which is a little disappointing but the lovely fragrance makes up for that. I was expecting my skin to feel nice and refreshed after using this shower gel which it did. In fact I find that it seems to wake me up a little which is something that I do not find easy to do in the morning as it is so fresh smelling and quite invigorating. I could smell the fragrance on my skin after I had got out of the shower and dried off but it was not overly strong and was quite pleasant. I would not say that this is not the most moisturising shower gel but it did not dry my skin out either and did not cause any adverse reaction. Overall this shower gel is another great fragrance from Original Source it helps me feel awake and refreshed in the morning and smells just wonderful!
