The Original Source Lime Shower Gel is available for GBP 2.20.
The shower gel is described as follows. "We've jammed 40 real limes into this zingy shower gel and squeezed it into our fully recyclable bottle. This shower will leave you with a zing in your step."
The ingredients are Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Cinensis (Orange Oil), Pinus Palustris Oil, Polyquaternium-7, Sodium Benzoate, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Lactic Acid, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol, Limonene, CI 19140, CI 42090.
The lid can be plugged - even with wet hands - very easy to open and close. The shower gel looks through the greenish color schonmal very interesting and a first odor test also convinced: it smells strongly of lime and little bubbly. The scent is really great, something different, intense and summery. I like it incredibly well. I find the scent can be used by men and women alike. The consistency is perfect, not too tight and not too runny. I do not use more or less than other shower gel so I would describe the yield than average. Foaming is okay, not extremely much nor too little. Anyway, I feel after the shower clean and refreshed, but also because of the tangy-fresh scent is doing its part to this. This way, I can after the shower not too long on my skin perceive what personally but does not bother me. The conditioning effect is okay, I am a cream after the shower. So it does not dry my skin ever made - and I do not expect more from a shower gel. Even otherwise I have the shower gel tolerated just fine.
I bought this Original Source lime shower gel from my local poundstore which is a good price as this is half price. I find that I only need to squeeze about a ten pence piece size out onto my sponge and this is enough for my whole body. I will rub it into the sponge for a few seconds and it does lather up very quickly and produces a lot of bubbly lather. Unlike some other shower gels the bubbles seem to increase as I am washing rather than disappearing.
The smell of this shower gel is delicious. The smell of zesty lime is really apparent and I find that I can smell it on my skin for hours after using it and my skin does feel soft and hydrated. They also do shower gels in other fragrances including orange and lemon and they are all suitable for men and women.
I do suffer from dry skin on my legs and often find myself scratching when I am sitting watching television, but I don't do this if I have had a shower when I get home from work and use this shower gel as it does leave my skin feeling very moisturised and hydrated. I do feel that I am looking after my skin by using this product as I am not using any chemicals or unnatural ingredients.
I recommend this shower gel as it is rich and creamy and leaves my skin feeling soft and smelling lovely for a long time after using it, but it is a natural smell rather than a perfume smell which I love. It is ideal to use every day as it is kind to your skin and I am happy to recommend it and to continue to use it.
I love zesty and zingy shower gels to help me keep my sorry eyes open first thing in the morning. The original source lime one is my absolute fave because it smells fresh and fab and just like real limes. They do use real limes to make this so that's the reason it smells so good.
The shower gel is green and not too runny so it is not wasteful. It gives a nice bit of lather so you feel really clean but it isn't such a creamy foam as some of them. I don't think this is moisturising but it makes my skin feel fresh and clean and not tight and dried out so I do love using it anyway, but I will pop on some body butter afterwards if I remember.
The scent stays on my skin for a few hours but it isn't really strong and in your face. I would like it to be even stronger but I guess it could a bit clashy clashy if you want to wear a perfume as well.
I can buy cheaper shower gel because this costs 2.20 when it isn't on offer but it always is somewhere. And the cheaper ones do probably clean my skin just as good but they don't usually smell as nice and realistic. The Original Source gel does last me quite a long time too so I think it is good value.
I would recommend this if you want a good quality shower gel. It smells lovely and does the job well. Plus you can buy it most supermarkets and shops like Boots.
I really like Original Source shower gels because I think they offer really good value for money and the fragrances are all a bit different from what you would expect in a cheap shower gel. Plus I always think that they are suitable for the whole family.
The only Original Source shower gel that I haven’t liked is the lime one because the smell of it is just really cheap and synthetic to my nose and it actually reminds me of a household cleaning product.
I thought that I would like it because I usually like anything that smells of citrus but this was just really offensive to my nose. It didn’t help that it seemed to stay on my skin for ages after washing it off. Trust the one that I don’t like to stay on the skin whereas the ones that I like don’t seem to stay on my skin very long at all.
It did clean my skin well though I did notice that I seemed to need more of it than I usually do with Original Source shower gels just to get the same amount of lather out of it. It also didn’t have that refreshing zingyness that I expect with these shower gels.
The price of this is really good and it only cost £1 but unfortunately due to the scent of this not being to my taste I wouldn’t recommend it. It doesn’t smell like lime but just like some synthetic vaguely citrus smelling gel and it isn’t as good as the rest of the Original Source shower gels that you can buy.
I love zesty smelling products so when I first saw this about 5 years ago I couldn't resist smelling it and then decided to buy it as it was so nice! I don't use it anymore, however, as the consistency is so thick that it is just not that nice to use.
It comes in a interesting bottle as it's almost triangular and it has black writing on it. This makes it very unisex in my opinion. My husband used it too. The bottle sits on it's cap so it's easy enough to get the gel out. You squeeze it and it comes out of a little hole and it's so thick it kind of comes out in bursts and it really is very thick! It's almost solid!
I find it best to apply this to a sponge to then get it to lather up. If you try to put it straight onto your skin it will just slop around and drop off into the shower before you have chance to get it lathered up.
The smell is lovely, really fruity and zesty of limes and it is really refreshing. A nice way to start the day.
I just don't like how thick it is. It makes it feel almost like slime and it puts me off using it. It will create an OK lather once you can manage to get it worked in but it's still not enough to convince me to keep buying this product which is a shame.
WHAT IS IT?
This is shower gel that is made by Original Source. It has got the fragrance of lime and is bright green in its colour.
I like this fragrance very much because it is very natural and I like the smell of lime in cosmetics as long as it does not smell fake or sweet. I like this because it has got the sort of smell that would make me think of fresh limes and I think that is good, the fragrance is strong and it stays on my skin for quite a long time and again I think that is good because I like how clean I smell after I have used this in the shower.
WHAT I THINK
This is a very pleasing shower gel and I am very happy that I bought it. I was not intending to because this was many months ago and when I saw it I thought I would not like it but I am very glad I tried it because it is one of the favourite shower gels with my family now and we all like to use it.
This shower gel makes me feel very clean and even though I do not get very many bubbles when I get out of the shower my skin feels clean and any dirt that was visible has been removed. I do not think this shower gel dries my skin and that is a shock because the smell makes me think that the shower gel is going to be harsh. I do not think it is kind to the skin but it is not harsh.
I like the feeling of how refreshing this shower gel is to use and when I use it in the morning it makes me feel like I am more awake and alert. I do not shower in the evening but I think this would keep me awake if I used it too close to bedtime.
This shower gel costs £2 but it is on special price promotion always in one of the shops or another and you can usually buy it somewhere for £1 only.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
We often buy Original Source shower gels as they're usually on promotion somewhere. It is available in all high street chemists and supermarkets. In fact they are on special offer so often that I would never pay the full price. It is often available in discount stores such as Pound World and 99p Store but it's a bit hit and miss to which varieties are available.
The lime is probably one of my favourites. It has a strong zesty fragrance that reminds me of the lime flavoured Starburst sweets. It works up a fantastic lather with plenty of soft bubbles and leaves my skin feeling thoroughly clean and fresh. It makes a wonderful morning shower as it's zingy fragrance is very awakening and fills the bathroom - a great start to the day. It is however a shower gel that I reserve purely for morning. In the evening I prefer something more creamy and softer smelling to help me wind down.
Original Source prides itself with using all natural ingredients and all of it's products are vegetarian and many suitable for vegans. This particular product states that it contains 40 limes. This is a common feature in Original Source's labelling in that they proudly boast what natural ingredient makes up their shower gels.
I like that the bottle stands on it's flat lid so you don't have that problem of trying to beat out any remaining gel as you start running low. There is very little wastage, there is a very small amount that will refuse to squeeze out so it's excellent value for money.
I'm not a fan of all Original Source products but I like the fact that are constantly bringing out new varieties to try, some of which are seasonal. The lime however is a constant in their range, probably because it's quite a safe option. Original Source run a few citrus varieties in their range and are probably best know for this along with tea tree.
My boyfriend and I have come away for the Christmas and New Year break and on the first day, we realised we had forgotten to pack any shower gel.
So on out first visit into town I dragged him into Wilkinson as I find it very hard to beat that place on prices on most toiletries.
We were browsing the shower gel section, and there were four or five Original Sources on display. I have tried a couple of these in the past and have always liked them, and of course I have read plenty of dooyoo reviews of others!
We picked a couple of bottles - this review is of their lime fragrance.
The shower gel is, as you would guess, lime green in colour and it comes in a triangular plastic bottle which is clear plastic so you are able to see how much you have left. The bottle has a black plastic flip top cap and the bottle stands upside down in your shower on its head. This is great for dispensing shower gel as it means all of the product is resting on the opening ready for just the slightest squeeze to get it out.
Unfortunately though it also means that a little bit of water catches in the upside down flip top and so you get a small shot of cold water down your leg when you open the bottle up the next time. Wakes you up though!
So the gel comes out easily enough with a light squeeze as it is not one of those really thick and gloopy gels. Of course it smells of limes - the bottle says that there are 40 limes packed into one bottle and judging by the smell, I can well believe it.
The smell actually reminds me of that lime marmalade in the old fashioned jar that my grandma used to always have.
The gel is wonderfully zingy - if this won't wake you up in the morning I don't know what will.
A 50 p piece size of this gel lathered up well and really woke up my senses. Sadly though, the beautiful fragrance didn't last on my skin for as long as I would have liked, unlike the mint one of this range which does seem to linger.
A 250 ml bottle of this cost me just £1 in Wilkinson although I stopped at Superdrug in the town too and it seeks to sell in there for around £2.30. So get to Wilkos!!
I will definitely be buying this again as it smells great and at £1 you just can't beat it!
What can I say, I love this Original Source lime shower gel - it has such a zingy, refreshing fragrance and a really bright, vibrant colour. As it tells you on the bottle, 40 limes go into each one, and it really comes across in the beautiful smell! I also love the consistency of the shower gel, it's quite thick so doesn't slip right through your fingers like some others can when you're applying them in the shower. What's more, as it's often on offer (either half price or BOGOF), it usually works out to about £1 a bottle, which I think is great value.
The packaging is simple and easy to use - you know how some bottles can be a bit tough, making it a struggle to squeeze out the contents, well, none of this here, and as the product is dispensed from the bottom of the bottle, gravity is on your side too. The only slight annoyance (and I think this is true of all bottle-based toiletries) is that it can be a struggle to get the last little bit out of the bottle - to combat this I just add a little water and shake it all around. It might mean a slightly diluted wash but you still get a nice lather and the satisfaction of actually using all of a product!
If lime isn't your thing then there are lots of other varieties of Original Source shower gel available, including lemon & tea tree and vanilla milk & raspberry (another of my favourites!)
I usually prefer creamy and moisturising shower products which leave me feeling pampered but along side this I recently purchased a different type for my boyfriend to share on our holiday. I chose the Lime Shower Gel by Original Source.
What does the product do?
The main aim of the product is to cleanse the body leaving you feeling both fresh and clean. It has been with essential oils and as it proudly states on the front, it contains 40 'real zingy limes.' The product is vegan friendly and it has a natural fragrance thanks to the limes. It packed full of natural ingredients which promise to leave your skin refreshed and healthier. The product in plenty of different varieties so if Lime isn't your thing then there are others that you can try.
Appearance and Packaging
The product comes contained within a mostly clear but slightly cloudy bottle through which you can see the product inside. It has a black flip top lid on which it can stand and there is some basic information given on the front and the back of the bottle in big black writing. The product comes at around £1 per bottle and it can be bought from stores such as Superdrug, Boots, large supermarkets and also from a range of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product is bright green in colour which I assume comes from the limes. You can see it clearly through the bottle and it does look quite nice on display. The aroma of the product is strong without being overpowering. It really just smells of the lime being zingy as promised and citrus fresh. I really like it and I find it to be invigorating and awakening.
When used with a sponge, it works up a good lather which leaves you feeling fresh and clean. Without using a sponge, you get a few bubbles as you work the product into the body but nothing much. The aroma is evident the whole time and it smells really nice. The product is easy to apply to the bottle and the formula feels gentle and comfortable on my skin.
The shower gel hasn't caused me to experience any irritations or discomfort. It is easy to rinse off my body once I have finished. It doesn't dry out my skin and it leaves me feeling just as fresh and as clean as promised. The lovely aroma lingers lightly on the skin for quite a while after use. A little goes a long way with this product so as well as it being cheap, it is long lasting too so you will definitely get your money's worth.
All in all, I really like this product. It smells delicious, looks eye catching and it's good to know that there are natural products within it. It feels comfortable on the skin and it leaves me feeling fresh and clean for ages. I will definitely be trying some of the others in the collection.
I have used original Source Lime Shower gel a few times lately., though I didn't buy this, my husband did. I use his shower gels every now and again and to be honest, I still cannot really make up my mind whether or not I like this one or not. It's certainly a shower gel which is going to wake you up in the morning and if you find it difficult to feel perky first thing on a Monday morning, then use this and you'll be sure to be wide wake in minutes.
The bottle is clear plastic and stands on its head so that the contents run to the bottom, which is ideal packaging for shower gel, as far as I am concerned. The contents come out easily enough, even though the gel itself is quite thick in consistency. I am not at all sure about the lurid lime green / yellow colour of this gel, however, and I think this is what puts me off slightly. It looks like it might glow in the dark and there's certainly no fear of missing it when it sits on the bathroom shelf.
The smell is what I'd describe as refreshing (massively so), uplifting, tangy, very zesty and very limey. Not everyone will like this smell and it may even be a bit of an acquired taste, but it has a lot going for it in terms of waking the senses and being very invigorating. It's not a shower gel I would choose to use last thing at night before bed as I think this is possibly slightly too invigorating.
The smell lasts a decent enough amount of time on the skin after a shower, it foams well, rinses off nicely and whilst I cannot really say it offers any moisturising properties, it does cleanse the skin well and leaves it feeling fresh and clean. Its cheap at only 99p in Poundland at the moment and whilst there are a number of different fragrances in this range, this seems to be the current favourite as far as my husband is concerned at the moment.
I do enjoy using it, but only occasionally, as I personally prefer something a little less 'in my face' than this particular shower gel, but it's nice to use every now and again. The colour puts me off slightly, but other than this, it's fine.
Original source is widely available in chemists like Boots, Superdrug and Savers and in supermarkets like Tesco, Asda etc. It's also sometimes in Poundland and the 99p Shop. The prices go up and down but when it's on offer for a pound, I like to buy it for the strong scent and because it's just a no-nonsense shower gel for when I just want to use a simple, no-fuss product.
I bought this because I quite like strong smelling shower gels which fill the bathroom with an uplifting scent in the mornings to wake me up. I sniffed this in the shop and it was very tangy and citrus smelling. I also smelled the lemon and tea tree one which was also very strong, I really prefer lime to lemon so I chose this.
The packaging is quite striking, with hard lines and big chunky lettering, the bottle is clear plastic so it shows the very bright and vivid colour of the shower gel through it. The lid is on the bottom of the bottle which I love because it makes it easier when you're coming to the end of a bottle. It's definitely designed for both females and males, there is nothing girly about how the bottle looks but it also isn't particular geared towards men like a Lynx shower gel for example. Instead, it focuses on the flavour of the shower gel and it is no-nonsense and simple.
The lime green coloured shower gel squeezes out of the bottle easily, instantly hitting you with the strong, tangy lime smell. The texture is thick and not runny like some shower gels which can be messy and tend to spill out of my hands which is just a waste. It is easy to use and spread because it is quite thick, although it isn't one of those jelly textured ones which don't drip even when you turn your hand upside down. It's a nice, medium consistency with enough thickness to be easy to manage. It lathers up nicely and spreads easily over the skin.
The smell is a very tangy lime, but not sour or bitter. It has enough sweetness to make sure it doesn't smell sour but it is mostly zingy and fresh. It's a very refreshing smell and really does wake me up in the mornings, it is strong and fills the bathroom with the lovely scent, I really do like the smell of this shower gel. It's my favourite smelling Original Source shower gel out of the ones I have tried.
This shower gel doesn't claim to have any great skin benefits. It does clean the skin well though and it doesn't dry mine out. It leaves my skin feeling nice and clean and refreshed, it doesn't moisturise or anything like that but it doesn't market itself as that kind of product anyway so I can't complain. When I first used this I was wondering if it might dry my skin out, the bright colour and the strong smell don't exactly say skin-friendly but I haven't had any dryness from this shower gel.
I'd definitely recommend this if you like strong, tangy smells. This is suitable for women and men as well as young people. The scent and colour are fun and fresh. This is available for about £1 quite often and I would definitely say it's one of the better shower gels out there for that price.
First up, using this was a happy accident - I don't usually choose my shower gel in such vivid colours and I certainly don't pick them for their lovely citrous undertones or subtle floral notes. I use Lynx shower gel which smells nice and blokey and does exactly what it promises on the bottle.
However, I must have forgotten that I didn't buy that magic 'bottomless' Lynx shower gel and to remind myself to pick up some more, because a few weeks ago it ran out.
So there I was in the shower with a choice between a bar of soap and a bright green concoction at 'her' side of the bath.
I opted for the green squeezy bottle.
What is it?
Original Source shower gel; a fair-trade, ethically balanced cosmetics company which uses almost all natural products sourced (where possible) from UK sources to reduce their carbon footprint.
I must say, their website makes quite interesting reading.
This is the Lime shower gel if you hadn't gathered from the picture, but they do dozens of different ones as well as limited run seasonal stuff.
The first thing that struck me when I opened the bottle is how sweet it smells. Other reviews state that this is quite tangy and powerfully citrus but I didn't get that at all. The first thought I had was of chocolate limes - the very sweet synthetic taste that they give lime flavoured sweets.
The bottle was easy enough - a flip cap at the bottom so you always have the gel pooled around the base, so it doesn't need violently shaking or squeezing to death before you get anything out.
The gel itself was great. A nice thick consistency but very easy to spread around with none of the putty-like feeling some of the designer gels have. It foamed up a little bit, but not much really. That wasn't an issue though as my usual Lynx stuff reacts just the same - I'm not one for soaking in the stuff, just a quick scrub and rinse!
Rinsing it off was equally straightforward. It didn't stick or feel like it'd turned to jelly and have to be peeled away (talking to you here, Dove!) and rinsed away leaving my skin clean and soft with no residue and no dryness. Ticks in every box so far.
Definitely. Like I said, I wouldn't usually choose this for myself, but after using it I suspect my wife might find she gets through this bottle faster than she expected. (shhh!)
Where can I get some?
All the large supermarkets stock Source and prices vary wildly for a 250ml bottle from £2.50 at full price to £1 on special offer, though it can usually be bought somewhere in the middle (often on a special offer - 3 for 2 etc). I've seen it in pound shops and discount shops as well, though I suspect choice will be limited.
This is great stuff. I can't really knock any stars off after my (admittedly limited) experience of Source shower gel though I do have to question their claims that 40+ limes go into every bottle. Once again the cynic in me thinks that perhaps 40 limes per batch sounds more likely, meaning I get 0.01% of a lime and lots of colours and essences to top up my bottle.
Still, can;t argue with results and this performed admirably.
Full marks Source, keep it up!
I love Original Source, a brand of bath and shower products that pride themselves on using quality natural ingredients and on not testing on animals. I especially love the fact that you can now purchase most of the range in pound shops, which makes them lovely and affordable. I used to only buy the bubble bath products, but since I now live in a house with a shower I really enjoy using the shower gels, an they wake me right up in the morning.
One of the range that is particularly zingy and energising is the Original Source Lime Shower Gel, which like the majority of the shower ranges comes in a clear wedge shaped bottle that stands on a flat black lid. It doesn't come with a hanging hook, which I personally think would be a very handy touch in the shower, as it would mean not having to pick up the bottle with wet hands. The lid itself is a simple flip job, and easy to open even if your hands are wet.
The gel is a gorgeous yellow green colour, really bright and vibrant. It squeezes out of the bottle with ease, though it isn't so runny as to go everywhere making a mess. It smells very strongly of fresh tangy lime, but without that bitter pithy scent. It's sharp, but also sweet smelling, and it really does make me feel wide awake in the morning. Each bottle apparently contains 40 freshly squeezed limes, so no wonder the scent is strong.
This lathers up wonderfully, and rinses off easily, leaving the scent behind. I love the scent of this, and especially on cold grey days it really is nice to catch that whiff of lime every so often, making me think of sunshine! The scent lingers a good few hours.
This leaves me feeling really clean, and very awake. It doesn't dry my skin out, but it doesn't add anything to it either - it's just a no fuss, citrus scented shower gel, and I can't fault it.
I don't like flowery smelling shower gels, so when I first saw this I had to give it a try and now I'm hooked. Original Source Lime Shower Gel should have come with a government health warning it's so addictive. As soon as you open the cap you're hit with an intense lime smell which stays around for a good few hours once you're out of the shower. The gel is thick and rich, so a little goes a long way and leaves your skin feeling soft and refreshed. If ever there was a shower gel with a built in alarm clock then this is it as you'll get out of the shower ready to face whatever the day throws at you.
The bottle is see through making it easy to see when you're nearing the end and as you stand it on the cap, all the gel flows to the opening it makes it easy to use every last drop cutting down on wastage. The bottle contains 250ml and is quite an easy one to hold as it tapers and has a slightly rough feel so that it's easier to grip with wet hands.
The bottle says that there are 40 real limes squeezed into every one and believe me, you can definitely smell everyone.
I tend to buy it when it's on offer at £1 but normally you can buy it almost anywhere for between £1.00 and £2.50.
