“ Brand: Original Source / Type: Shower Gel / Cream / What it does: Smoothes, „
On a recent excursion to the 99p store, I found that they sold Original source, so I decided to buy one... they only had this flavour and another minty one, so I bought this (having given a sniff and found the scent so good!).
The Shower smoothie is packaged in a thin plastic pouch which reduces the amount of plastic needed (which is great for the environment), plus you can squeeze every last drop out of it, opposed to shaking it vigorously or otherwise... The font and text on the front is also funky and follows the style associated with original Source. The simple design and labelling makes it attractive, as the colour in the shower gel comes through.
~~~USAGE: APPEARANCE, SMELL, TEXTURE~~~
Again, the first thing that overwhelms is the smell. It is a really light a indulgent milky smell, which contains the sweetness and fruitiness of mango, but the dense milky macadamia nut smell also comes through. This meringue of scent is really yummy and I could literally taste it with my nose... It smells as if it could be eaten! :D
The shower gel is smooth and thick to the touch, and is easily applied to the skin... a creamy texture that feels nourishing...
I really liked using the product- it makes your skin soft, and provides an incomparable bathing/showering experience- the fragrance is so dreamy and is left on your skin :D
I bought this for 99p.
I love Original Source and having stumbled upon this particular variety for the price I am absolutely stunned. This product does not fail to clean, it exceeds its requirements and gives such an indulgent and therapeutic experience that I cannot fault it... and it also cares about the environment with the packaging! I enjoy using the product 100% and would recommend this to anyone and everyone who takes showering seriously and likes to enjoy an aromatic shower time everyday!
I still remember when Original Source first appeared on the market. I was very impressed with the companies generosity, they must have sent out a fortunes worth of free samples. I applied for them on behalf of myself and family and quickly fell in love with them.
I have been using their shower gels and bath foams for ages now but purchased my first shower smoothie before Christmas. I picked up the Mango and Macadamia in Boots, because it sounded different and I loved the gorgeous peach colour it comes in. It cost £1.95 for 250ml and comes in a soft, squashy plastic pouch.
Original Source Mango and Macadamia smells gorgeous, you can really smell the fruity mango and there is a definate undertone of nuts. It's hard to explain, but it has a warm, summery smell to it, which brightens my morning, especially on these cold, winter days.
The shower smoothie feels lovely on your skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth. You'll smell gorgeous too! I always put it onto a shower puff and it lathers up really well under the running water.
Original Source do not test their products on animals which is always a big plus where I'm concerned. There products are also suitable for Vegans.
I will keep using Original Source products and will be trying out some other smoothies, as they smell wonderful and feel great on my skin!
I would also be more than happy to recommend this product.
My sister is 10 and she used some of her pocket money this year to buy us all a little Xmas pressie each, I wasn't expecting anything off her so was proper touched when she gave me a parcel that contained 3 different Original Source shower products. She chose that brand because she knows I love fruity or minty smelling shower gels..... she should know because I've told her off often enough for using my stuff! lol
I've never seen this Mango And Macadamia Shower Smoothie before so used it on boxing day, I love it so much that I've got to go out tomorrow and buy myself some more!
It comes in a squishy plastic pouch that has got a nozzle on the top, to use it you just flip the lid open and squeeze the smoothie out onto your shower puff. I thought it was going to be awkward to get the right amount out because of how squishy the pouch is but it's a lot easier than it looks.
I love the smell of this smoothie, the mango smell isn't as strong as I thought it would be but that's fine because I think it can get a bit too overpowering like the You've Been Mangoed bath melt from Lush which smells way too strong for me.
I don't know what a macadamia smells like but I know it's a nut so maybe that's what takes some of the mango smell off, if you sniff the smoothie hard you get a bit of an oily smell and I think that could come from the macadamia. I could be wrong though! lol
It's quite a thick shower gel and doesn't drip all over the place, the bottom of the pouch is flat so it stands up a lot better than it looks like it's going to. You don't get loads of bubbles from it but I love how moisturising the shower smoothie is and also how clean and fresh it makes my skin feel.
I think a lot of Original Source products dry my skin out quite a lot but this one actually moisturises and when I get out of the shower I can feel how soft and smooth my skin feels. The mango smell comes through quite well on my skin and lasts for a bit after my shower, it's quite a faint smell though so if you use body lotion afterwards then you'll probably lose the mango smell.
Bless, my sister has just told me she brought this shower smoothie from Poundland so if you decide you want to try it then I recommend you head down to Poundland tomorrow!!!
I have only recently started using Original Source products, as when I first started seeing them in the shops I figured they were too cheap to be any good. Then I read some positive reviews here on dooyoo about the mint scented shower gel went to get it. But since I love mango, when I saw this one on the shelf I chose it instead. I'm so glad I did - it's wonderful!
This shower gel is labeled as a shower smoothie and it certainly does look fresh and inviting. It comes in a funny plastic pouch that uses less plastic than a rigid bottle would. And when you consider that this will eventually end up in a landfill somewhere in all likelihood, the fact that the pouch is flexible means it will be crushed and take up less space. So I definitely think this product scores points on its eco-friendliness right from the start.
Another thing I like about this shower gel is that it isn't tested on animals. In fact, none of Original Source's products are tested on animals. This is important to me as I don't believe any cosmetics and beauty products should be tested on animals. This product is also vegetarian and vegan-friendly.
To use this, I squeezed a bit it onto a bath lilly and lathered up in the shower. I find it lathers extremely well, but I know a bath lilly really helps in that department. I have also used this product as bubble bath and find it a very enjoyable and relaxing way to wash.
The scent of this product is nothing short of amazing. The mango scent is so natural that transported me to my holidays in the tropics. The macadamia nut isn't so strongly scented, but I believe it does a good job of softening my skin. This product isn't too harsh or drying on my skin, either. I sometimes get eczema but so far this product hasn't caused any flare-ups or problems as other, stronger soaps sometimes do.
Using this product is such a treat for the senses. I actually look forward to getting to use it! I absolutely love it and was very surprised to see it doesn't have better ratings here on dooyoo. Sorry, The Body Shop, you have lost my business as this stuff is so much better and less expensive than any of your offerings! I will be buying and trying the entire range of Original Source products now. And at only around £2 per shower gel, they won't break the bank, either.
I always have a shower every morning, it helps me feel fresh and alert for my day ahead...
In Superdrug recently I saw a 'Mango and Macadamia Shower Gel' on offer for a pound and as we were running low I thought I'd pick one up and give it a go.
Macadamia I thought was a nut - which seemed a strange thing to put in a shower 'Smoothie' as this one is called, but it must add something to the mix or Original source who make this product wouldn't use it would they?!
The Smoothie is sold in a pouch with a plastic stopper on one side that you push up to release the gel and the stuff is a very light orange in colour and looks quite runny through the pack I thought...
There is 250ml inside and it can be used for up to 36 months after opening which is cool :)
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans also and is not tested on animals either which is good!
There is a warning on the pack not to drink it; it does look like you could so I would not have this around kids as it smells as tasty as it looks so it wouldn't be safe...
The container says it is 'Nourishing' and that is packed with natural stuff lie mango which a natural source of minerals and vitamins and the macadamia is known to soften and smooth skin.
On using this Smoothie I did find it a bit weak though, it didn't lather very well at all and I missed the frothy bubbles I get off my Original Source Lime that I normally use.
The Smoothie smelt pleasant enough but didn't stay on my skin as a natural fragrance, and you have to catch the gel quickly as it's more of a liquid than a solid.
I wasn't impressed really, only two stars for a weak product that looks better than it is :(
The other day whilst out shopping in Sainsbury's I spotted this and realised it' had been ages since I've used any Original Source products and thought it was about time I tried something new out!
Well it's a clear plastic type of squeezy pouch with a little white dispenser type tube to the the top right hand corner of it and you simply give it a gentle pull to open it and squeeze the shower smoothie out of it and then to do it up of course you push it and it does up very securely. On the front there is an orange oblong section of colour and on that in I'm told that 50% Plastic Helped Make This Pouch Of Original Source 'Nourishing' Mango & Macadamia Shower Smoothie. On the back of the pouch I'm told a bit about the pouch, a bit about the product and warnings are listed, ingredients are listed and I'm told it isn't tested on animals and that it is Vegan, the recycle symbol is displayed, size is stated (which is 250ml), contact details for PZ Cussons are listed (the manufacturers of the product) and finally there is a bar-code on there. I quite like the idea that it is made from less plastic thus helping the planet etc and the pouch is robust enough as well as informative however when you've used some of the shower smoothie it does struggle to stay upright and the last dregs of the product are hard to squeeze out!
The Shower Smoothie:
A peachy colour with a sweet and natural aroma of mango to it. I can't personally smell the macadamia but the fragrance is very pleasantly fruity and in my view suitable for men and women to use alike.
It dispenses out of the pouch easily and it is glossy and creamy and you don't need much of it as it lathers up into big white, rich bubbles with ease and dispenses smell as it goes of course!
It feels nice and smooth on the skin and quite hydrating and of course ladies if you want to shave your bits and bobs with this of course, once again you can. It rinses off with ease and your done!
It cleanses skin, leaves you quite soft and delicately fragranced. I have no complaints about this shower smoothie but I don't know..... I think I expected something a little more luxurious and pleasurable to use because it is called a shower smoothie! For me however it is simple a nice enough body cleanser. It doesn't overly moisturise the skin and doesn't fill me with glee but it's simply nice enough!
I paid £1.00 (on offer) for my pouch but expect to pay around £1.92 usually in all good supermarkets etc.
I'm a real fan of the Original Source shower gels, I think I love them because they do really seem get it bang on when they do their different varieties. For example my personal favourite is the Lime variety and you really couldn't get a more limey and zingy and invigorating lime shower gel if you tried. Sure, there have been a few that I have not been as keen on but that it usually becase I am not all that keen on those smells anyway - e.g tea tree, however generally I think they stand head and shoulders above all other brands of shower gel. Having said that I haven't really tried any Lush products, I am almost to scared to open that door because I just know I will get pulled in.
Anyhow I was ready for a new shower gel and fortunately at the time the Original Source shower gels were on offer for £1. They do frequently seem to be on offer at this price somewhere and I always try and stock up rather than having to pay full price. I was just going to pick up my normal favourite, the lime one when I saw some other varieties of the shower gel, in different packaging. They were packaged in a soft plastic packet and on the packaging, it was labelled that it contained 50% less plastic. I was intrigued by the design and took a closer look at a very appealing orange coloured gel.
That's another thing I love about Original Source, the colour of the gel provides the colour of the bottle, and all their colours are really strong and bright and very distinctive. On closer inspection I discovered the orange variety was infact Mango & Macadamia Smoothie, sounded yummy so in the trolley it went.
Next shower I was eager to try this new shower gel. The soft packaging was a little tricky to open and I think the design is not all that strong and I think I could encounter difficulties trying to squeeze out some gel when in the shower as I think it could end up going everywhere. I think it is a great idea to use less plastic I'm just not sure that this is the most durable way to do it.
The shower gel itself was divine, the smell of mango was fantastic and a real treat to wake up to in the morning. The other beauty of Original Source is you really don't need a lot, just a small splodge and you will get a fantastic lather. I think this makes it great value even at the normal price of £1.99. I would definately buy this one again and am eager to try other new varieties
****Original Source Mango and Macadamia****
I was in my local £1 shop a couple of days ago and when i saw this i thought it looked so lovely i had to try it!!!
The packaging of this product is different .It feels like it has been made quite cheaply. Its like a capri sun packet and when i first glanced at it i had thought it was something to drink!!!!
This smells lovely.It has a really fruity smell to it-mm a fresh mango smell. Once it s been used it leaves a faint smell which is good as it is not too overpowering.
**Using the product**
This claims to soften and smooth skin-after using it my skin did feel rather smooth. To make the most of this product i use it with a body puff and a little goes a long way.
I paid £1 for this but i have seen the price as high as £3.50.I don't think its worth £3.50 but i don't mind spending £1 on it.
I think if you like the other products in the range that you will like this one.
The packaging is very simple and no frills. It's a plastic container/ bag that shrinks as you use it with a nozzle screw top to release the product. You can draw compassion to the type of bag used to carry blood in blood transfusions and it you give blood!!! It's fine as long as you don't squeeze the bag too hard as you will get too much product and waste a lot.
If you travel a lot like I do, you will find that the packaging is excellent as it shrinks as you use it and it's not a bulky product in your toiletry bag!
Prices vary you can pick this up for about £2 in Asda and Tesco. I did however see in a chemist for £3.50 which is quite expensive for what it is!
The scent of the product is lovely. It's fresh and fruity. Although its mango it smells a bit like oranges. It's a strong smell when you get out of the shower but it's pleasant and not over powering on your skin after you have dried off. It does leave skin feeling very soft and silky. I have found some shower gels have left my skin really itchy but with this one it's not the case and I have never had any irritation.
A lovely fruity smell and if you like the Original Source Shower Gel range then I would definitely give this one a try.
I have been using Porridge Soap by Lush, which is lovely, but contains a lot of oats which tend to stick to my skin, meaning it's not ideal for shaving. I decided to start using one of my many shower gels for shaving my legs, and chose Original Source's Mango and Macadamia Shower Smoothie, which I purchased a couple of months ago.
The back of the pack tells me that this shower gel (or smoothie) is 'packed with natural stuff.' It contains mango a natural source of vitamins and minerals and macadamia which is known to smooth and soften the skin. It is also approved by the Vegan society.
The packaging of this product is very unusual, and hard to describe, so I hope my description makes sense! It basically comes in a sort of large clear plastic pouch thing (which reminds me of the fluid bags they have on hospital drips!!) and one corner has a nozzle which opens by pulling it up. If you still don't know what I'm talking about, there's a picture on the Boots website!
Anyway, I find the packaging quite a pain in the neck to use. If you squeeze the shower gel into one hand, it is quite hard to push the nozzle down using just the other - especially if you have wet hands, and I often find that it ends up dripping out of the packet.
The gel is a pale orange colour, and is quite a thick consistency. It smells amazing - it has an incredibly fruity tangy mango fragrance, which is perfect to use in the mornings as it really really wakes you up! It lathers well too, which make it great for shaving, and means that you don't have to use a large amount because a little will go a long way.
After using this the scent lingered on my skin for ages, which I was really pleased about, as it is a lovely uplifting scent. I might be totally wrong about this, but I thought it reminded me of Clinique Happy perfume a bit!
It left my skin feeling soft too and I experienced no sensitivity or irritation.
This costs £1.99 for a 250ml 'pouch' but is currently on offer in Boots for just 99p, so hurry up and grab one while it's still so cheap!
I had originally only intended to use this on my legs when shaving, but it smells so yummy I find it hard to resist using it all over. In terms of scent it really is one of the nicest shower gels I have used, and I cant wait to try the rest of the Original Source products I've bought now!
As a stocking filler for Christmas I got some Original Source Mango and Macadamia Nourishing Shower Smoothie - that's an awfully long name for a bit of shower gel!
Anyway I have now tried it so I thought I had better tell you about rather than keeping it to myself.
Well this is really unusual so I thought I should try and describe it even though some of you don't want to know about the packaging. If this is you then just skip to the next bit - I won't tell anyone honestly!
Well this stuff comes in a plastic container which looks like a big sachet with a piece of extra plastic inserted into the base and with the corner cut off. It holds 250ml of Shower Smoothie and the weight of it together with the design of the base means that it will stand up with no problems.
Where the corner was is the dispenser which is a little plastic tube. Now I will admit it took me a few tries to work out how to get the Shower Smoothie out of the container (OK so I may be a bit thick here). I tried twisting the tube to no avail and then realised that I had to pull the tube as there is an inner and outer one something like the ones you get on bottles of water. Then you just give it a squeeze and out it comes.
This makes for an attractive and unusual design especially as you can see the golden liquid inside the container but it does make it a bit difficult to use in the shower.
The smell of this product is very nice. The mango is just strong enough and perfumes the air in the bathroom. I can also smell it on my skin for some time afterwards too.
As I have already mentioned the design of the packaging makes it a bit difficult to use in the shower. I usually have my shower gels in containers with hooks so that I can hook them on to the pipework of the taps and use the shower gel from there.
I did manage to balance the Shower Smoothie on top of this pipework and it is easy enough to hold whilst squeezing it to get the stuff out.
I was disappointed to find that there were few bubbles and no real lather at all. If it doesn't lather up here in our really soft water - we live on the edge of Snowdonia - it isn't going to lather anywhere!
However I did feel clean after using it and my skin felt lovely and soft.
On the front of the packaging it states:
'Massage gently onto wet skin to create a luxurious lather. Rinse then pat dry with a large fluffy towel. Best before your skin feels neglected. Please do not drink.'
Well as I have already said I wouldn't say 'a luxurious lather' not by a long way! I do agree with the do not drink warning though as it does look a bit like a carton of juice!
On the back it says:
'Indulge yourself with mouth watering mango a natural source of vitamins and minerals, complimented with macadamia known to soften and smooth skin.'
Mouth watering? I'm not going to try drinking it am I? It is fair to say that my skin felt soft and smooth after use and it did smell nice too.
It does have the usual warnings to keep away from the eyes and also as I have said above to keep away from children as they may think that it is juice.
None of the Original Source products are tested on animals.
There is an address on the back but even with my glasses on and using a strong magnifying glass I can't read it!
The other thing that I can't tell you is the cost. It was a present and I have looked at both the Tesco and Boots websites as I know they are stocked by these stores and I can't find the price for you but I would guess they would be about £2.50 - £3.
It also comes in Watermint and Lemongrass and Pomegranate and Fig. I have had the Watermint and Lemongrass also for Christmas so I will try that one and tell you about it sometime.
If you go to http://www.squishedfull.co.uk/ you can order a free trial of Shower Smoothie so I have ordered Pomegranate and Fig so I can try that one too!
My first contact with Original Source products came through my door as a freebie and it was the Mint shower gel which made me tingle as I used it for the very first time. From there on in I have become quite a fan of the Original Source products and every time I happen to notice something new, I don't hesitate in buying it.
When I was browsing in Superdrug a few days ago I happened to come across Original Source Mango and Macadamia shower smoothie which immediately stood out to me having not seen it before and priced at £1.97 with a BOGOF offer I decided to purchase two and try them out.
The one notable thing from this particular product is the overwhelming smell of Mango, now being a big fan of Mangoes I was more than happy with my product so far. However, unlike previous Original Source products where the contents are of a creamy like substance as you expect a shower gel to be, this one was more like a gel, like the male versions of these products and of a much thicker consistency. Once this smoothie was applied to the skin it did lather I felt much easier than other products that I had tried within the Original Source range and as you massaged the creamy lather into your skin once again the smell of Mango was the dominant smell.
The lather does rinse off your skin with ease and the nice scent of Mango does linger after use.
Once I had dried myself my skin did feel really nice and soft and smelled beautiful of Mangoes. If you are not a big fan of mangoes then I would not recommend this product to you, strangely enough although I am not too sure of what Macadamia should smell like, there was no evidence of anything other than mangoes. Since using this product I haven't had any bad reactions to it nor has my skin become irritable or dry. I do tend to suffer with dry skin and usually stick to using baby products such as Johnson's baby wash as there are no ingredients which can potentially irritate my skin, but thankfully whenever I feel like a change Original Source products are okay for me to use, assuming I can find one which smells nice enough for me to use because I don't like the smell of a lot of their products, the smells are often too overpowering and I like something a little discreet and fresh smelling which is what I have got with this Mango and Macadamia shower smoothie.
Before I used this product I had no idea what Macadamia was so I did an internet search and Wikipedia stated that a Macadamia is a nut and I have noticed a lot of Original Source products use a combination of fruit and nuts together. The oil from a Macadamia nut is a natural moisturiser for the skin and alongside the Mango which is a natural antioxidant and as a moisturising agent which is high in both Vitamin A and E so is especially good for dry skin. All of this information I found through various websites which offer an insight into ingredients within beauty products.
Original Source as a company state that all of their products contain only 100% pure and natural essential oils and that these are extracted from plants and fruit. The essential oils contained within these products are known for their relaxing and rejuvenating properties and the more natural they are the less chance there is of them irritating the skin. I also like Original Source products because they do not test their products on animals or use a third party that does and they are also registered with the vegan society and are also a member of the aromatherapy trade council all of which can be found on the Original Source website.
Since buying this product I have become a bigger fan of Original Source products and this is one that I will definitely be using time and time again and I recommend it to anyone to use who like me, likes their products to have a nice smell but not an overpowering, overwhelming smell. Having now used this product for a few weeks I can also safely say that my skin hasn't dried out leaving me with dry, itchy patches of skin like I have experienced in the past, instead I have been left with soft, smooth skin which smells lovely of mangoes.
For people who read my reviews they will know I have a thing about shower gels or creams, to the point that a while ago the other half put his foot down and declared "No more!" So I have been trying to cut down and finish up all the half empty bottles but occasionally I do slip and this one that I am reviewing is one of those little slips. I don't know why I was drawn to this one because I really haven't had a good experience with original source bath products; they have always been a bit of a let down, so will this one be any different?
Original source has been around a while and the company state that they only use 100% pure and natural essential oils. These are extracted from parts of plants and fruit peels. Essential oils are known for their relaxing and rejuvenating properties. These days' people are turning more and more to natural products.
They also state that they do not test on animals or use a third party that does, their products do not contain ingredients derived from animals apart from sodium tallowate which is used in the tea tree, lavender and spearmint soap. They are also registered with the vegan society (again with the I'm not eating it!) and are also a member of the aromatherapy trade council.
This may have been the reason why I succumbed to this product, it seems that original source have changed their packaging again. It now looks like a lucozade sachet; you know not the bottle but those ones that are flat and squishy!
The packaging is clear and plastic with a bit cut out on one side with one of those pull out stoppers to squeeze out the shower cream. You can easily see through the packaging the colour of the shower cream this one is orange, it states on the front in big black lettering the serving suggestion!!! And also the best before which happens to be before your skin feels neglected!!
Original source shower smoothie is packed with natural stuff. Indulge yourself with mouth-watering mango, a natural source of vitamins and minerals, complemented with macadamia known to soften and smooth skin.
When I first looked at this product I wasn't sure whether to wash with or drink it! Am glad I decided on the first option, when you first pull up the plastic stopper you get a lovely scent which is quite sweet and smells of mango's but I can't say I can smell any macadamia. The smoothie itself actually feels more like a gel when applied to the skin, which surprised me as I thought it would be more like a cream. It is best used on a body puff thingy, which lucky enough I use. The gel is medium in consistency and feels actually creamier than a usual gel.
The thing that actually impressed me was the lather, this really does lather well with loads of lovely scented suds and the lather is quite thick and not plastic looking like some of these products. The lather rinses off well and doesn't stick to the skin and the nice scent does linger around but is not overly sweet to the point where I get sick of it.
On the front of the packaging for this product they do recommend that you dry yourself with a large fluffy towel! Well I would if my little monsters hadn't used the bath before me and I usually end up with a large damp dragged across the floor towel!!
After finally drying myself my skin felt nice and soft, the scent does linger but not very strongly just a nice sort of waft every now and then. I haven't had any adverse reaction after using or any dry patches of skin.
The new packaging is actually quite good, the see through packet means you can see how much is left, the stopper thing doesn't seem to get clogged and the fact the packaging is very flexible means you can get every last bit out.
Aqua, sodium laureth sulphate, cocamidoprpyl betaine, sodium chloride, parfum, glycerine, mangifera indica (mango) fruit extract, macadamia integrifolia seed oil, styrene/acrylates copolymer, benzotriazolyl dodecyl p-cresol, citric acid, disodium EDTA, denatonium benzoate, hexylene glycol, propylene glycol, sodium citate, PEG-40 hydronated castor oil, sodium benzoate, BHT, imidazolidonyl urea, methylparaben, phenoxyethanol, propylparaben, butylphenyl methylpropional, limonene, linalool.
Normally I don't do the list of ingredients but I couldn't believe how many ingredients there was for this product especially as it is produced as natural.
This is quite a new product so it isn't showing on the original source website, I bought it from Superdrug with the only other in the range I could see which is pomegranate and fig. They are £1.97 each and are currently on BOGOF.
Just a little word of warning i would keep this out of the way of younger monsters as it does look like look a bit like a juice sachet thingy and is also orange in colour so they may think it is a drink.
So I can safely say that this one hasn't collected dust on my shelf and when the current ban on me buying any more shower gels is lifted I will definitely buy this one again. To be honest I think the other half should leave me with my fetish I mean I could replace it with a different one like shoes now that would cost a lot more and take up more space!!!
