“ Brand: Original Source / Type: Shower Gel / Suitable for: Body „
One of the most attractive features of this product to me is the reduced packaging bag it comes in rather than a standard bottle (over 50% less plastic used). Not only does it use less plastic naturally, the more you use it, the smaller space it takes up in your gym bag! It is also clear so it's clear how much of the product you have left. Despite the shower gel being in a loose bag, rather than a hard bottle, it still stands well on the edge of your tub right to the very end of its use. The biggest downside of this product is that my housemates have adapted to calling it my "blood bag", thankfully the product didn't have and cherry in the gel to encourage this nickname! The smell is not as strong as most fruit-based shower gels but still very pleasant and soft, most likely to be a shower gel used by women rather than men. As it is used from natural products it is kind to my sensitive skin, even when I use it more than once a day!
I love the Original Source range and always end up buying the new 'flavours' as and when I come across them. They are frequently on special offers in my local Tesco's supermarket and I bought this as part of a 2 for £2.00 deal. Some varieties seem to be more easily available than others, and I haven't spotted this on the shelves for a while now. Original Source say: "To keep your skin smooth and supple, you just need to put in the moisture you lost. Our manuka honey and cranberry shower nectar will help you keep the balance. Just shower...rinse...and shine." The packaging is different to usual, and is made using 50% less packaging than the standard bottles. The product comes in a clear plastic pouch, which allows the shower gel to show through. This is good because it allows you to see exactly how much you have left. The pouch then has a spout at the top which can be opened or closed for when you want to use it. I found this a little tricky with wet hands, and transferred the shower gel into an old Original Source bottle that I had used up and washed out. So, shower nectar. What's all that about then? To be honest I have no real idea why this is called shower nectar, it seems to be just like an ordinary shower gel to me. You use it in the shower, it foams up, it gets you clean. I think this is probably a clever marketing way to draw attention to the product by making it seem like it's something new and different and exciting. The smell of this shower gel is just fantastic. The cranberry is fruity and warm, and smells very realistic. The honey balances out the berry scent and takes away the edge of sharpness that you usually get with cranberry. The combination is perfectly matched and it has the most gorgeous sweet and fruity aroma. This shower gel has a nice thickness to it, and foams up very well. I normally apply just a small squeeze and that is enough to wash my whole body with. The pouch contains 250ml of shower nectar, which is the same as you would get in a normal 250ml bottle of Original Source shower gel. This usually lasts me around a month or so, which is very good value as it only cost me £1.00 thanks to the special offer (RRP £1.99). This product helps to get my skin feeling thoroughly clean. Manuka honey is the magic ingredient that gives a real boost to the skin. It has healing properties and after using this shower nectar my skin always feels lovely and soft. It smoothes out my skin and leaves it feeling replenished. I love to use this in the shower or bath and it gives a really comforting, relaxing experience thanks to the nice bubbly feel and the gorgeous smell. This is a wonderful product from Original Source, and it ticks all the right boxes. I would buy this again if I can find it, but new items keep getting released to the line so I fear it may have been replaced by a new variation. Original Source are against animal testing - keep your beauty cruelty free!
This relatively new shower gel is one of my favourites from the Original Source range. Presented in a pouch, Manuka Honey and Cranberry Shower Nectar is simply delicious (so to speak). From the moment you lift the cap and smell the fruity aroma you know you're in for a treat. As you squeeze the thick liquid onto your hand/loafer/shower puff and apply to your skin, the powerful scent of sweet cranberries and fruit juice fills the shower, pleasantly lingering there till long after you've got out. The nectar feels good on your skin and produces a lovely lather, that you won't want to wash off. Using Manuka Honey and Cranberry shower nectar is likely to lengthen your shower experience, in short, you won't want to leave! The pouch itself is an excellent idea. It uses 50% less plastic than the Original Source bottles, so is much better for the environment (although you can't recycle the pouches, but then again, you don't appear to be able to recycle the bottles either). You simply squeeze the nectar up to the nozzle in the corner of the packet and out it comes. It's also extremely satisfying that you can squeeze virtually all the gel from the pack. There's no bits you can't get to, so the pouch packaging definitely gets my vote. On the back of the shower pouch is a note saying "we don't test on animals..". Of course this simply can mean that the product is not tested on animals, it is unknown about the ingredients. Like all other Original Source Products this one is not approved by the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV), so if you're looking for something animal friendly this is probably not it. This product is also not Vegan Approved, as obviously it contains honey. The above is a real shame, as I formelrly bought Original Source products thinking they were free from animal testing, and the truth is now I know better, I won't be buying them again. However, I realise this is not everyone's perogative and judging on the shower gel alone I have awarded the Manuka Honey and Cranberry Shower Nectar 4 stars, as I realise those who have read this review and are against animal testing, simply won't buy it.
