Advantages: Great value, effective, good smell, lives up to it's 'tingly' claim

Disadvantages: Can sting, may contain some chemicals

Original Source mint shower gel is a natural, ethical shower product claiming to be made from 7,927 mint leaves and naturally fragranced. The bottle itself is made from recyclable materials and the testing of the product has been done on humans rather than animals making it one of the more ethical, and affordable, products on the market. Don't be too fooled by the mint leaf claim though or the claim that it is 'packed with natural stuff'. That it might be, but looking at the ingredients roll call it's also packed with 15 odd other things some of which look suspiciously chemical. I'm no scientist so can't confirm whether this is definitely the case but if this is important to you, I would investigate further.

The bottle is quite elegant and more design thought has been put into it that other standard shower gels. It is tall and slender and obelisk shaped with a subtly curved top. The Container stands with the opening at the bottom so when it runs short you don't have the awkward shaking and turning upside down of the it to release the final dregs. The bottle is made of a robust plastic that has an almost frosted clear appearance. Plastered across it in large lettering is the key 'appealing' product information. The typographic layout is stylish and interesting but not confusing. It maintains an element of functionality.

The gel itself is of a fairly thick consistency and is dark green in colour. Upon squeezing it out of the bottle you are instantly struck by the strong mint aroma. This only increases as you lather. It does smell natural as per the boast on the packaging.

This gel is incredibly refreshing and lives up to it's 'tingle factor' slogan. There are other competitors and own brand versions on the market but for my money, this is the most effective... and most pungent! You can certainly feel it for minutes after use and serves as an excellent morning wake up as it leaves you feeling invigorated and alert. Careful not too use too much though as the tingle can on occasion quickly turn into a mild sting. This is particularly true if you are unfortunate enough to get it in your eyes where it is more painful than most other products on the market.

Price-wise, I bought mine in Poundland where it cost... well... a pound. You can usually get it in other stores for between £1.50 - £2.00 but shop around and there is usually a deal out there such as buy one get one free or half price.

If the natural ingredients boasts are important to you, you may wish to read more carefully what goes into it. Judging it as a shower gel and it's effectiveness though, I think it's an excellent value product on the market. It is unique in it's refreshing quality and given the relative cheapness of it, well worth a go.

Summary: Fresh, invigorating and 'Tingly'
