      Complete and utter bladderwrack ...

I love Original Source products and have been using them for years. Their range of products are constantly being created and then re-created and their formulas range from the delicate milky ones that leave you feeling calm and realxed right through to intense menthol solutions that wake you up instantly ! I have been particularly impressed by their "Original Source Men" range too ... and have purchased numerous products that have all left me feeling clean, refreshed and impressed !

      *******************************************************************************

Imagine then, for a moment, the excitement I felt recently when I discovered and then bought what I felt would be another excellent product from Original Source. And then try to put yourself "in my shoes" and imagine how I felt throwing the container away after using it just the once !

      *******************************************************************************

The product that I refer to was ORIGINAL SOURCE MEN REHYDRATING SPORTS WASH WITH NORWEGIAN SEA KELP AND ROCK SALT ... a product that claimed to "Put back in what life takes out" !

It was also a product that was described on the packaging as being ...

"Inspired by the oceans, this mineral packed formula will have you feeling lively in no time. What fresher way to start the day?"

      *******************************************************************************

The container, like all Original Source products, was both simple but somehow eyecatching and the liquid inside was a beautiful shade of blue. It had all the signs of being another quality product until the moment I opened the cap. Ah yes, the moment I opened the cap ... I remember it like it was yesterday because it was at that point that my senses were cruelly assaulted as the product had one of the most disgusting aromas I have ever experienced. I actually felt physically sick !!!

      *******************************************************************************

I simply wasn't expecting an Original Source Product to smell that bad. Maybe I had allowed myself to be lured ino a false sense of security? Or maybe my expectations were too high. All I know was that as a result of being an Original Source "junkie" I was expecting something wonderful.

      *******************************************************************************

It's actually quite difficult to put the aroma of this product into words but the closest I can get is to share an experience that I hope will enable you to "smell" it for yourselves ...

A few years ago I lived by the sea and would often go down to the seafront for an early morning run. Quite often my run would take me past the harbour and sometimes when a fishing trawler had returned the crew would have all the nets stretched out on the quay and would be hosing them down to get them clean and ready for the next voyage. The smell that this process created was disgusting ... a sickening mixture of saltwater, seaweed and fish. It was also the aroma that Original Source seem to have captured and added to their bottles of Norwegian Sea Kelp and Rock Salt mixture !!!

      *******************************************************************************

On closer inspection of this product's ingredients I noticed the word "bladderwrack". I then Googled this word to discover that it is essentially seaweed and believe me, despite all the natural goodness that bladderwrack does actually contain it is also known for it's pungent aroma.

Original Source claims that there isn't a "fresher way to start the day".
However, I would have to strongly disagree with this claim. The product itself didn't smell refreshing at all and the sour smelling liquid had a weird "fishy" aroma. All I can say is that when I glanced on the bathroom shelf and saw that I had still had a few more squirts of Original Source Mint Shower Gel left I felt relieved !!!

Whilst I have often admired Original Source for creating a range of "bold and exciting" formulas and fragrances I genuinely feel that this time they have completely got it wrong. The Norwegian Sea Kelp and Rock Salt hair and body wash my sound refreshing but it simply does not deliver. In my opinion feeling clean and refreshed does not involve using a product that would leave you smelling like the inside of a fisherman's welly !

If you have trouble waking up, try this!

This product is for men, but having 'borrowed' it on several occasions in the shower, I consider myself fully qualified and more that equipped to write a review despite it's manly target market. I have also thoroughly interrogated the man of the house about it, and as the bottle is now empty and on my review pile I feel it's time........

I have purchased several of the original source body washes before, the lime and the mint being favourites, so when husband came home with this I was quite impressed! He does actually own more beauty and grooming products than I do, so I shouldn't have been terribly surprised. It is probably testament to Original Source that he bought it at all as he is very fussy and will only buy very nice products.

I like the packaging, you can see the product through the plastic bottle as it is clear and only has a label on the front, I like to see what I am buying. The label states that the product will ' Put back in what life takes out.' The body wash is pale blue in colour (very oceanic) and the bottle is slightly frosted so you get that salty feel. All in all, you really get the feel of this product from the packaging, and the label is quite masculine looking as it is blue and white on a black background. The flip top lid is easy to use.

This mineral packed formula really does have you feeling lively, just like it says on the pack. It is extra refreshing, not just while you are in the shower, but the fresh scent lingers and you feel refreshed for hours afterwards. You just feel really clean and really refreshed with a bit of a zing! (you know what I mean!)

There have been no ill effects on my sensitive skin or husbands eczema prone skin. This is a fantastic product and you can pick up a 250ml bottle for about £1.80. 10 out of 10.

A great choice to try but I don't think the product is spectacular.

Picture this ladies- you have decided to rough camp on a deserted beach on the Lofoten islands in Northern Norway. It is mid- summer and the light is just fading, though it is midnight, when out of the front of your tent you see a gorgeous man emerging from the sea in nothing much. He is covered in a layer of seaweed and his skin is glistening in the half light with crystals of rock salt. As he heads for your tent you wonder how long has he been in the water? I was thinking about this when hubby walked out of the shower with a bottle of Original Source Norwegian Sea Kelp and Rock Salt in his hand wrapped in a towel-well you can dream!

Actually this is a new product from the very popular Original Source Company which I love. A few years ago it is hard to believe they were only available online, and I was one of their first customers. Now they have become a household name. They have a superb website (one of the best) and you can find it at www.originalsource.co.uk. Here you can hitch a ride in a VW camper van and follow the trail to find all their lovely products. The birds are singing, it's a summer day, and you can't fail to appreciate their beautiful graphics and the wonderful layout of the site.

They work closely with the Vegan Society and with the Aromatherapy Council and make sure that everything is as kind to the environment as possible, so flying in ingredients unnecessarily is something they wouldn't consider.

I purchased this bottle from Boots for £1.95. I don't normally pay that much for Original Source, getting it cheaper in various offers, but I thought hubby would appreciate this version just for men, (being as he is of sea faring origin- an old Viking from The Isle of Man originally!)

The bottle looks attractive. Turquoise liquid- it actually resembles the sea you find in warmer climates- in fact it looks tropical! It has the caption- "puts back in what life takes out!" It also says "grooming for men isn't new" and tells us Alexander the Great was into it! Inspired by the oceans this is a male treat!

So what was the shower experience like for hubby? Well he used it both for washing and for hair cleansing too and he was missing for some time. After a long day at the office, and all those underground trains to contend with he always showers after work, as well as before, so he is no stranger to the bathroom.

He said he found it invigorating and refreshing, and that his skin felt clean and fresh. Although the liquid looks blue it is actually an optical illusion as the bottle has a turquoise tint to it, and the gel itself is only slightly blue. It smells really clean though, and no trace of a seaweed smell either. It claims to be a sports wash, so I guess they are looking for buyers to take it into the gym, and to use after exercise as it says it is hydrating, so could go hand in hand with Gatorade. Can't comment on that because hubby isn't the energetic sort. The smell lingered on his skin all evening though which was good, and it was great for that perk me up shower for the "I've had a hard day feeling." It was moisturising too, his skin was soft and not dry at all.

He said his hair felt clean, and it certainly did, but he did say that after a few days he needed to use a conventional shampoo and conditioner, as it was starting to feel a little stripped of natural oils. I think this is the case with many products which claim to have multiple uses, but it is useful to have them especially when travelling.

He was very impressed with it and says he would buy it again tomorrow if he needed some more. Certainly a great male smell and one to look out for. I love the name, but personally don't think it is ahead of the competition in any way, it's got a unique title, but I don't think the smell is anything more than you would get with any male shower gel to be perfectly honest.

The male collection also includes Original Source Eucalyptus and Lime Basil Oil Energising Hair & Body Wash, and Original Source Orange Oil and Ginger Invigorating Hair & Body Wash which complete the male trio.

Something different to try but I think I would wait for an offer first.
