“ Brand: Original Source / Texture: Cream / Type: Shower Gel / Suitable for: Body „
I was quite surprised to see no-one had written a review for this shower gel, so it falls on me to start the ball rolling!
This shower gel is made by Original Source and, as with most of their products, it is advertised as "packed with essential oils". Original Source say that their shower gels use only 100% pure and natural essential oils.
The shower gel comes in a 250 ml clear plastic bottle, with a slightly tapered top, and a black plastic base which flips open to dispense the gel. It stands upright with no difficulty. It has nice simple packaging allowing you to see the product, which is a translucent pink gel, rather like the colour of Turkish delight. I like the packaging very much, the shape of the bottle, the colour and the graphics on the label are nice and simple yet still stylish.
The bottle flips open easily and the gel doesn't come out until you give it a gentle squeeze, which allows a perfect amount of gel to come out. I hate it when shower gel either won't come out of the bottle at all or comes out too fast and all over the place. No such problems here.
I used this as both a bubble bath and a shower gel. I squirted a little into a running bath and it produced a reasonable amount of fluffy bubbles. It lathers easily in your hands and even better on a shower scrunchy.
Now for the best part. This shower gel has an absolutely gorgeous fragrance. As it says on the bottle, you only get essential rose oil (which costs a fortune as an essential oil!) from real roses. It takes over 50 roses to make 1 drop of the essential oil in this shower gel. It is therefore quite amazing that the wonderful rose fragrance is strong enough for you to smell while using it and lingers afterwards, both on my skin and in the bathroom. I found the scent very relaxing and the product actually felt quite luxurious, considering the cost. I think I paid about £1 for this in a local bargain shop but depending on where you buy it, it seems to retail for between £1.50 and £2.50 and is widely available in most supermarkets.
After bathing my skin was quite soft, perhaps not as soft as the packaging seemed to imply , as it talked about the lovely soothing feeling you get from rose essential oil, and I would still need to use a moisturiser, but then I normally would with most shower gels. The bottle does say that as it is packed with essential oils it may not be suitable for your skin type, but I have relatively sensitive skin and didn't have any adverse reaction to it.
This product is not tested on animals and says it contains no synthetic fragrances however it does have quite a long list of ingredients and contains Sodium laureth sulfate which some people prefer to avoid (although that does appear in the vast majority of shower gels)
The downside - we have to have 2 bottles of shower gel on the go at once as my husband won't use this - far too girly! He likes something manly like mint or lime! Still since Original Source do those too, that's no great problem.
For refreshing, soft feeling skin
