I am not brand loyal to any shower gel but I use the Original Source shower gels frequently as not only do I love the different fragrances and natural ingredients but they can usually be found on a good special offer.
Original Source shower gels contain only natural fragrances. The company aims to source as many of its ingredients for its products as it can in the UK and works closely with the fair-trade foundation and the Vegan society. It also only tests its products on people and not animals. To find out more you can visit there very nice website www.originalsource.co.uk.
The shower gels can be purchased in most large supermarkets or beauty store and come packaged in 250ml bottles and are usually priced around £2.00 each. But if you shop around you can almost always find these on a half price or buy one get one free special offer.
There is a large variety of different fragrances in the range including:
Tea Tree & Mint
Raspberry & Vanilla
Shea Butter & Honey
Tea Tree & Lemon
Tea Tree & Lavender
I have tried all of these fragrances and am yet to find one that I do not like. The fragrances from these shower gels is always quite strong and fresh and really gives your senses a refreshing awakening, some of them even smell good enough to eat! It is also always worth looking out for the limited edition seasonal fragrances that they launch throughout the year too.
The shower gels are packaged in clear plastic bottles allowing you to see the usually quite bright coloured shower gel inside. They have a flip top cap which the bottle stands on allowing it to always to be ready to use. It is easy to distribute the shower gel by simply squeezing the bottle. The bottles are made from recycled plastic and can also be recycled again keeping in line with the companies ethical values.
I always use these shower gels with a shower puff and you only need a small amount to give a lovely lather and to fill the bathroom with a yummy fragrance. My skin is always left feeling cleansed and soft after use with a little of the fragrance left lingering.
Overall I really am a big fan of these Original Source shower gels. They are fantastic quality have the most amazing fragrance and always leave my skin feeling great. The fact that they can almost always be purchased for around £1.00 too makes them even better and very highly recommended from me.
I like to use shower gels from Original Source because I think they are very good quality but they do not cost very much money. My favourite ones are the 2 that I think were the first ones the company started to make and those are Tea Tree and Mint and Tea Tree and Lemon, they both feel like classic shower gel to me and I think they have got the nicest smells out of all the shower gels they make.
The bottle for the shower gels are all shaped the same and you can see through the plastic so that the bright colours of the shower gel that is inside, I think they look nice when they are on the shelf in my bathroom and I have usually got more than one of their shower gels any time so they look good together and I can see without having to even look at the label which one is which.
Original Source have got a range that is available always and they create seasonal ones also, I do not always like the seasonal ones and have not seen any for Christmas this year but I am going to look when I go shopping later. I bought one that was very nice in the summer and that was watermelon fragrance but I could not find it when I looked to buy it again and that is a pity when you find one of the seasonal shower gels that you like.
The shower gels make me feel very clean but some of them do not give very many bubbles and that is a pity because I think they would feel like luxury if the bubbles were better. I like that the smell lasts for a very long time after I have had my shower and that is even with the ones that do not have a very strong smell. I am happy about that because I like the fragrances of Original Source shower gels.
They are not very moisturising but I do not care about that because they make my skin feel clean and cost less than £2 for a bottle.

When it comes to shower gel I can't really say that I am particularly brand or product loyal. I get whatever is on offer at the time or whatever catches my eye. My husband however always asks me to pick him up some Original Source shower gel when I go shopping. It is one he goes back to every time.
And to be honest I can see why!
I have tried lots and lots of different shower gels as, like I said, I am always changing around, and I have to say Original Source is one of the best. It just feels like really great quality in general.
It is quite thick for a start, not like some of the cheaper shower products you can get that are quite runny and don't seem to have much substance. Original Source gives you a good dollop after you squeeze a bit out! It is thick and lathers up really well. It produces quite thick foamy bubbles.
I also like how a little bit of this stuff goes quite a long way. As it foams up so well it spreads and just a little bit of it manages to cover and cleanse your whole body pretty much.
The best thing about Original source though is the smell and the fragrances available in the range. They have loads of varieties available, the most famous I think being the tea tree one.
The great thing about Original Source fragrances is that they are so strong and really take over the whole bathroom whilst being used! They are amazing!
I have to say that there are a couple that I am really not taken with the scent, for example the lemon and tea tree one, however as a whole Original Source have got it right!
Using these products with such powerful scents really wakes you up and leaves you feeling completely refreshed! The scents lasts well on your skin after shower too!
Original Source is often on offer for a £1 a bottle, although I have seen it being sold for much more! Get it when it's a pound and I definitely recommend getting some!
Thank you for reading my review

I've been a 'comper' for years but I still remember the very first prize I won, a huge box of mixed Original Source products. At the time they were pretty new on the market and I hadn't sampled anything made by them (or even heard of the company as far as I remember), they're very much a bath and shower company now but then they sold a range of other items such as shaving gels and deodorants - I wasn't impressed with that side of the company but have had a love of Original Source shower gels from that point and always tend to have at least one in the bathroom.
The two most recognisable shower gels from Original Source are the Tea Tree & Mint and Tea Tree & Lemon ones, these are generally supplied in the usual semi-triangular shower gel bottles used by Original Source and stand out for being the most beautiful green and yellow colours. Of course, when you open the bottle it's the wonderful fragrance that makes the shower gels memorable - the mint one being extremely zingy and the lemon a combination of zingy-citrus, both really wake me up when I use them in the morning and leave my skin feeling wonderfully clean.
Through the year Original Source bring out various seasonal products, the biggest flop I remember being one called Chocolate and Mint (a Christmas one I think) which had the most disgusting fragrance ever and ended up being used as toilet cleaner in this house! Over this summer I've been buying a lovely watermelon fragranced Original Source shower gel which has a more delicate fragrance than I'd usually expect from this company but it's been beautifully light through the warm weather we've had this year. My daughter and partner both love the Lime shower gel, this is a permanent one in the range but isn't available everywhere with the supermarkets near me stocking it only occasionally - a shame as it's every bit as nice as the always-available lemon one and is the most wonderful shade of lurid green.
Most of the shower gels act the same so you get a decent lather, strong fragrance and excellent cleansing abilities - I supposed I'd better say that some of the more robust fragrances can be a little drying on the skin but presumably you'll know if your skin is likely to be affected by such a strong mint/tea tree fragrance or not.
I can't recommend the range of Original Source shower gels enough, they're a firm favourite in this house and are cheap enough to buy that they won't break the bank - you can expect to pay around £1.89 a bottle but they're forever found on special offer if you mooch around between the different supermarkets and Boots.
When it comes to choosing body wash (and general showering) products, I tend to be very fussy. I'm not a fan of strong, citrusy smells, preferring vanilla, coconut, etc. So naturally, seeing Original Source Coconut shower gel, my attention was caught. What really appealed to me (aside from the smell of the coconut shower gel which is absolutely scrumptious) was the fact that it's from natural products and actual coconut extracts, rather than being artificial.
It is important to me that my beauty products are as natural as possible - free from testing on animals/cruelty free. So I also loved the fact that Original Source Coconut shower gel is a vegan product.
As well as that, the price was great - it was about £2 per bottle, which seemed a great price in comparison to some of the other products on the shelves. I far preferred the idea of trying a more natural, vegan product than one where there were too many unnatural ingredients, or where it came from a questionable manufacturer.
From the very first time I used this Original Source Coconut shower gel, I was hooked. Just as it claims on the bottle, the shower gel was extremely moisturising, which I loved. Too many times, I find that the product dries your skin, rather than rehydrating it, and so it was a great surprise, just how so. My boyfriend even commented on the same thing - how happy he was with the product.
I will definitely purchase it again, and would recommend it to anyone looking to change body wash products. I have not a bad word to say on the product.
When it comes to shower gels there are so many different ones I have tried. The reason for this tends to be I buy whatever is on offer down at the local supermarket. One that I keep coming back to and the one that is without a doubt my favourite is Original Source shower gel. The main reason I like this one is the huge variety of different flavours, if that is the right word, that you can choose from. There is so much choice and they seem to bring out new ones on a regular basis.
My favourite is probably the lime one, this is bursting with flavour and feel so fresh and clean, it almost makes your nose tingle when you use it. The one I am using at the moment is the orange and cinnamon one and this again is very good with a really strong orange smell and subtle cinnamon. The only one I do not like is the mint and tea tree oil, this stings my eyes and I am really not keen on it at all, there is something odd about washing your body with something that is mint flavour.
Another one is vanilla and strawberry, this one is ok but it's not one of my favourites. It's a nice smell but just now quite for me. The shea butter and honey one is very warming and this is one I like to use in the winter, it's not the freshest smelling but it's a good one. There are a few other different ones to choose from but I have not tried any of the others yet, I probably will at some point, next time they are on offer.
The reason we all buy shower gel is of course to get clean and Original Source cleans very well. I always feel nice and clean when I have used this and I also find that you don't need to use to much of it for it to do the job. One thing I am not to keen on though with this one is that it does not normally lather up very well, there are better ones on the market for this.
When it comes to price and value these usually cost around £1.70 although I tend to buy them when they are on offer and I often get 2 for £2 which I think is very good value indeed. As you don't need to use a massive squirt the gel lasts for a good long time which makes it very good value all round. Of all the shower gels that I have used over the years I think this one is the one I come back to using the most often, this one gets a big thumbs up from me.
These shower gels always look really nice and are lovely bright colours which would look lovely on display but sadly the actual gels themselves do not have me hooked.
I have tried two different kinds now. The lemon one and the lime one. I really like fruity smells so thought that these would be ideal. They smelt okay whilst in the store so bought them.
The bottles look really modern and quite expensive actually, I could see these on a nice glass shelf in a hotel with spot lights on them! They are see through and the gel inside is a lovely rich colour, you can tell just by looking at them what flavour they will be. The lid is black and that is also the base of the bottle. It's tall and slim and has a bit of a frosted feel to it.
To use the gel you flip open the cap and then squeeze it out. It does need squeezing too because the gel is really thick. It reminds me a bit of quite firm lemon curd, it's definitely far thicker than other shower gels that I have used and sometimes this means that it is really easy for it to not spread if you apply this direct to skin especially if your skin is wet as it just drops off and runs away in the shower so now when using this I always put it into my sponge or flannel first and make it froth up that way before washing myself.
The smell isn't great, when smelling it in the shop I liked it but thought it had a bit of a plastic smell to it but thought that was the bottle and it would smell better once out, however, it's so very sweet that it actually smells false. Neither of the two smells make my mouth water or have me really enjoying them.
Sadly I no longer want to use these as the consistency is just too thick which doesn't feel luxurious but more like it's been congealed and the smell is far too sweet. It is a shame as I know they are a big hit for other people, sadly not me.
I bought this whilst shopping in Tesco recently as it was on offer.
I chose the lemon one but there were lots of different scents to choose from all fruity and all of them looked really good.
The shower gel was in a clear bottle, the liquid inside was bright yellow (this is what attracted me to it), it had a black lid and stood on its end so that the shower gel would always be at the end ready to be dispensed.
I paid 99p for the shower gel and it was in a 200ml bottle, I think they normally retail at around £2 so still not too expensive but if you like it then its worth stocking up on whilst they are on offer.
I used it for the first time in the shower that evening. As I opened the bottle to pour it into my hand the first thing that hit me was the strong smell, it was gorgeous it actually smelt fresh and really lemony as if the lemon was actually there - gorgeous! I applied it onto my skin and it lathered up really well. It left my skin feeling soft and smelling gorgeous - not much more you can ask for from a shower gel. I didn't have to use a lot to get a good lather either so the bottle has lasted me quite a long time.
I have been so impressed with the product that I have looked at some of their other products and have since purchased them.
I would definitely recommend this for anyone who loves fresh vibrant smells as well as soft, clean skin. It is suitable for all the family as it is not just aimed at one sex. Definitely worth a go!
With all the Olympics hype, I had to support Team GB with a good old fashioned British shower gel. This shower gel was released by Original Source and is one of their seasonal edition which will only be around for about six months.
A top down squeezy plastic bottle, I really like this style of shower gel bottle design as it's easy to store in the shower. The outer area of the gel has a textured finish for easier grip when wet. See through packaging mean you can see how much you have left. I also think the Union Jack is a nice touch and means it would stand out easily on the supermarket shelves. Supporting of their ethical principles this bottle is also recyclable.
Original Source is one of those does what it says on the tin. It uses natural fragrances which is a plus in my book. The natural fragrance highlighted in this fragrance is obviously the strawberry. Just smelling from the cap in the shop this very much reminded me of the Giant Strawbs from Haribo - fruity, tangy but subtly sweet. I love the sweets so I loved this scent, and happily bounded off to the till with my purchase.
However, all changed once it lathered in the shower, the tangy strawberry turned into more of a strawberry cake with desiccated coconut. Slightly strange I thought, I personally prefer the original scent from the bottle and didn't like this sickly scent. I appreciate strawberry is a difficult scent to get right, but even with a natural scent this shower gel has a slightly artificial feel to the scent. The scent doesn't really last on my skin, don't really mind this as I still feel nice and clean after I have left the shower. It's almost like being on Henman Hill with your strawberries in the rain!
As I have to come to expect from Original Source it's excellent!! The gel is not so runny that it runs through your hands before you can lather it up; neither is it so thick it is hard to squeeze out of the tube. I get a good lather from this shower gel, so I can do my whole body with a ten pence sized amount of gel.
My skin type is slightly sensitive and Original Source products have never aggravated that, and neither did the strawberry shower gel. It is not a cream formula so is slightly drying, but no more so than any other shower gel in this price band.
All Original Source gels are vegan and made in the UK. Everyone's happy then!
Price and Availability
The RRP of this product is around the £2 mark, but who has ever paid full price for one of these shower gels. Poundland and various supermarket offers mean I only ever pay a £1 for one of these gels. I think for 250 ml of a good quality shower gel this does offer value for money.
Original Source products are normally easy to get hold of from places like Boots, Poundland and various supermarkets. However, as this is a limited edition summer scent, it may be more difficult to come by.
I like this shower gel, but I don't love it. The patriotic packaging was a nice touch for the Olympics, but I wish the scent could have been true to how it smells from the bottle, for this reason I'm knocking off a star. A four star worthy product.

* This review is of the Original Source British Strawberry Shower Gel.
Original Source is one of my favourite brands of bath & skin care products as their products are full of essential oils and smell gorgeous. I first came across the Original Source shower gels last year in my local Poundland and I usually pick a couple of bottles up whenever I'm in there as at just £1 per 250ml bottle you really can't go wrong. These are also available in other shops such as Boots and most supermarkets and the price varies from a pound upto £3 ish.
I've tried most of the different scents and sweet strawberry is one that I recently came across. It instantly appealed to me as I love the smell of strawberries and I decided to buy a bottle to try. This is a seasonal edition fragrance and it was released for the queen's jubilee, but it can still be found in discount stores such as Poundland and I've seen it in B&M too.
The shower gel comes in the usual Original Source bottle, which is a triangular shape. It stands on its sturdy black flip lid and it is transparent, meaning that the bright red shower gel can be seen, which I really like. The bottle has a large label on the front of it with a union jack theme, and all of the information such as the brand/product name is written on the front. It also states on the front that the shower gel is packed with natural fragrance and it has a Vegan friendly label on it, too.
On the back of the bottle there's another label. This tells us that the shower gel is not tested on animals, contains natural fragrance and is made in the UK. It also says that the sturdy plastic bottle is recycable and there is a lengthy list of ingredients as well as company contact information. The bottle is very easy to open due to the flip lid and once open there's a little hole which the shower gel is dispensed from when the bottle is turned upside down. The bottle is squeezable, which I find handy.
The shower gel has just the right consistency; not too thick but not too runny. It's bright red which I like - it's a nice novelty. I usually use this in the bath and use it as a bubble bath as it bubbles up and lathers so well, and it's also ideal for applying to my body brush or loofah as it's really moisturising. It makes the water nice and milky and makes lots of bubbles and the lather that it creates is luxuriously thick. My skin always feels clean, moisturised and soft after soaking in a bath with this in and the effects are pretty long lasting too - not bad for a pound!!
The smell is absolutely amazing - it is not at all artificial or 'cheap' smelling - it smells nice and natural and it is almost good enough to eat! It smells like fresh, juicy strawberries which I find to be a very refreshing and summery scent. The smell lingers in the bathroom for a few hours but it fades from my skin reasonably quickly. This is really gentle on my skin and I've had no problems with it aggravating my eczema or anything like that.
Overall, I can't recommend this enough! Cheap, smells gorgeous, cruelty free and incredibly moisturising - I love it!
A few years ago I bought my first bottle of original souce shower gel and I have never looked back since. It is by far the best shower gel on the market and is at a reasonable price. Superdrug nearly always have it on offer at 99p and most supermarkets have it on an offer of around that price. Original source have now branched out and do a shampoo and conditioner, hand wash and bath range which again are fantastic.
Original source do a variety of interesting shower gels and do special edition ones are certain times of the year such as the winter almond and black cherry. The shower gel's are extremely refreshing and leave you feeling clean and refreshed. They come in a nice, modern, easy to use bottle which is transparent so you are able to see the shower gel inside. The shower gel is quite thick with a very strong fruity smell.
My favourite's are the mint and tea tree which leaves your body tingling and makes your skin feel really clean all day. Lime is also one of my favourite's as it has a gorgeous fruity smell and again leaves you completely refreshed.
I would definitely recommend this shower as it is definitely the best shower gel out there and is very reasonably priced too!
I like to constantly change my shower gel as soon as my current bottle runs out so I am always experimenting with different makes and fragrances, but the one brand of shower gel I always return to is Original Source and every time I use it I wonder why I have ever strayed away.
Original Source has been around for a number of years and also produces a whole range of other cosmetics including shampoo and conditioner, hand wash and even versions specifically for men.
I remember when their first shampoo came out and it was in their original scent of tea tree and mint. The sensation it produced was certainly worth experiencing. It made your whole scalp tingle but I could never quite get over the strong minty fragrance, which was a bit too close to toothpaste for my liking.
Therefore I was in no rush to go out and purchase their first shower gel which also came in this minty fragrance.
It was when they started to bring out other fragrances that they won me over. Original Source shower gels stand out from their competitors. Visually they are striking. They come in angular bottles emblazoned with bold writing. They do not rely on images to portray the contents of the bottle. They let the contents of the bottle speak for themselves.
The bottles are clear to allow you to see the contents inside, which invariably come in bold, striking colours. The lemon version for example is bright yellow, while the lime is bright green. At first it is easy to mistake these bold colours as simply being the colour of the packaging and not the colour of the shower gel, so bold and sumptuous looking are they.
Original Source prides itself on using the purest ingredients. Their advertising and even the lettering on the bottle, spell out how much of the shower gel is made up of the scent it professes to be with very little additives. This, combines with the bright colours - which you learn are a result of using the purest ingredients - immediately make you want to dive into the shower with the bottle.
On a practical level, the bottle has a black cap on the base which avoids those tricky moments towards the end of a bottle when you are unable to get out the last dregs. The bottle is water tight, as I have found with some shower gels if you keep them in the shower they start to fill up with water.
The scents are true to what they should be and are much stronger and natural smelling than rivals on the market. The gel lathers moderately and smooths over the skin with ease. It does not dry out the skin or leave it oily and rashy. And it leaves a lovely fragrance behind which lasts throughout the day.
Some scents leave you feeling relaxed and pampered while others leave you awake and refreshed so it is worth experimenting for your desired result.
For even more choice, Original Source is always bringing out special edition versions, particularly for different seasons of the year so there is always something new to try and you get the sense you are using something a little bit special on these occasions.
My all time favourite is the White Pear and at £1.99 a bottle for any of the Original Source shower gels they are value for money. If you are lucky, some supermarkets have them on offer for £1 from time to time.
I really like the original source range they are a great wake up morning shower product. The fragrances are so fresh and bold with out being overpowering. I wouldn't call them moistursing but they don't dry out your skin. Good value for money that you should give a try.
Original Source: Golden Pineapple Shower Gel- Summer Seasonal Edition
I came across this product whilst practicing my usual past time of browsing the shower gel aisle in Boots. I just love seeing all those bottles stacked neatly in rows, each one promising a gorgeous smelling shower experience.
Anyway the golden colour of this product caught my eye, standing amidst the staple Original Source products (Mint & Tea Tree, Lavender, Lemon and Lime). I decided to take a sniff and was met with the gorgeous fruity, sweet smell of pineapple. I like all the other Original Source shower gels, so of course, I was sold.
This Golden Pineapple Shower Gel comes in the usual pyramid shaped Original Source bottle, so it is very easy to use and doesn't cause a mess. I think their bottle design is one of Original Source's best selling points for ease of use. The gel itself lives up to its name, being a golden yellow colour. The bottle has the word "summer" emblazoned across the side, the letters being made up of small daisies. I don't remember seeing this on the shelves during the summer though!
The gel lathers up well and the fruity scent will fill up your bathroom. It is reasonably moisturising and gentle on the skin. The scent does not linger afterwards though; good news for perfume wearers, bad news for those who love the scent, likes me.
This is indeed a summery fruity shower gel that will make you nostalgic for summer. It is not a "wake up" scent like the Tea Tree & Mint Original Source shower gel but it certainly lifted my mood.
I really like this product and hope that Original Source keeps Golden Pineapple as a permanent part of their collection. I am hopeful, as there were only a couple left on the shelf when I bought mine, so it has obviously been a success. My only issue is that, like all Original Source shower gels, the scent does not linger on me. I also think that some people may find this scent too sweet, although this is not a problem for me.
These are one of my favourite shower gels, and cost around £1.99 for 250ml in Boots. They are also on offer sometimes for £1 which I think I saw in Sainsburys recently but are normally on offer in many stores which is when I normally buy the shower gel. Overall, I think this is an average and reasonable price for shower gel, and this one is nice quality.
My favourite is the tea tree and mint shower gel as it is really invigorating and refreshing in the morning. The mint really wakes you up, and smells really nice. I also like the lime version as it smells like jelly babies!
This shower gel also makes your skin feel really clean and fresh, along with feeling quite moisturised.
The packaging is clear so you can see how much you have left. The black cap at the bottom is easily opened and when you squeeze the bottle, it is good because not too much comes out. There is a filter which doesn't allow it to pour out which is handy. When you are running low, you can also squeeze the bottle to get all the remnants out as it is an upside-down design with the cap on the bottom. It also lasts quite a while as you only need a little bit.
If you haven't tried this shower gel, I would recommend giving it a go as it is really refreshing and uplifting.
