I have tried quite a few shower gels from the Original Source range and always found them to be ones I like quite a lot. Find they wash well and also have nice smells to all of the ones I have tried. This one is the one I chose because I like the smell of Lavender. The gel comes housed in a clear plastic bottle which has a flip back top. The gel is rich and quite thick. It is a nice purple colour and has a really strong smell of Lavender with a hint of Tea tree smell. I can mostly just smell the Lavender. It is one which doesn't drip from the bottle, it is a thick consistency which is soft and what I like about it is that, you don't actually need a lot of it to lather on the body. This gel lathers really well indeed using just a small amount on the sponge. I can smell the Lavender all the time I am showering with it. Lots of foam is created from it too. Cleans the skin very well and washes dirt away. It is a good gel and I always find the gel does the work intended without having to scrub the skin to remove any dirt. I arrive home from work sometimes really dirty and need to have a shower before actually sitting down for dinner. It washes off all the dirt in a quick time. I like this one for using for a morning shower and it just helps me feel awake for the day ahead and helps me to not have that sluggish feeling I have some mornings. I have taken this gel to the gym and it just refreshes my skin in the shower and just helps me feel clean and refreshed. It leaves the skin soft and not dry, I don't mind if a gel softens my skin to be honest so long as it cleans well enough and doesn't feel rough. If you like a gel to leave your skin soft I think this gel would be a good one to try because my skin does feel soft enough after using it at least twice a day. I sometimes like swap gels each day in the shower and don't always use the same brand twice in a day but if I do, which I have using this gel I find it has been a good one twice a day with the same results each time. When it comes to rinsing it from my body it doesn't take long at all. I can also smell the lavender on my skin when I have dried it and the smell has remained for a long enough time and it does smell really nice indeed when I whiff it. My older granddaughter's like this gel and choose it when they take a shower while at my house. It cost around £2.30 and is worth the price. I have often seen it on offer for £1 but I didn't buy it on offer but will if I see it on offer in the future. This gel I recommend if you like a lavender smell but if you hate it I don't think you may like it very much because it does have a strong smell of lavender and it leaves the lavender smell on the skin after drying it. I actually like this gel a lot and will buy it again. I rate it 5 stars.
**Introduction** In January this year I made a solemn vow that I wouldn't buy any more toiletries at all until I'd made considerable dent in the amount I already have stored away. I received - much to my pleasure - a plethora of different gift sets for Christmas and my Birthday which is in late November so I knew I had plenty to go at before having to replenish my stock. Apart from a moment of weakness and ordering some items from Yves Rocher in late January (using money I'd received as gifts so feel it doesn't count..?) I've stuck to my promise. Having noticed that I was seriously lacking in any kind of shower gel recently I headed up to my local Poundstretcher to get something 'cheap and cheerful' and was very pleased to see bottles of Original Source being sold for just £1. I've been a fan of the brand in the past, particularly the Mint & Tea Tree fragrance gel, but having had a stressful few weeks with one thing and another I opted for the more tranquil sounding Lavender & Tea Tree. Having just finished a bottle of my favourite lavender shower gel (Yves Rocher's 'Provencal Lavandin') I was eager to carry on the lavender theme so when I spotted this priced at £1 I wasted no time in popping it in to my basket. **Price, packaging & availability** The packaging design for Original Source shower products is quite eye catching and easily stands out amongst it's competitors due to it's sleek and stylish straight lines. Being upright standing the bottle elegantly veers in from it's base and gives an almost triangular shape, combined with being transparent so the brightness of the gel can be clearly viewed this makes the gel quite unmissable on the shelf. We can see that this Lavender & Tea Tree gel is a beautiful shade of purple to match it's namesake and as the company claim there are 157 lavender flowers packed into each bottle I was eagerly anticipating trying this out later on, on the day of purchase. The bottle holds a reasonable 250ml of product which for the price of just £1 is really quite a bargain, especially given that this is a well known brand. Availability wise this can be picked up from most outlets that sell toiletries including large Supermarkets, Chemists and bargain shops such as Poundstretcher etc. The average RRP is around the £1 in most places so price wise it's a very economical purchase. **My thoughts on using this** I've literally just finished using up the remainder of this shower gel so feel I can give an honest account of my experience of using it. I've used shower gels from this brand many times in the past though I think this is the first time that I've used this particular fragrance as I've always opted for the Mint version before, and being a lover of all things lavender scented I was genuinely looking forward to trying this. To access the gel there is a flip open lid which is placed at the base and which the bottle stands on. I'm always wary of lids at the base as I've had many products in the past leak in this way despite being what I think is closed accordingly and given the choice I will always choose a flip open lid rather than one at the base. Costing just £1 though I wasn't about to scrutinise it that much and at the end of the day if the shower gel did it's job correctly then so what if it leaked slightly? The lid itself opens easily enough and also (thankfully) closes tightly enough so no product leaks after using. The plastic of the bottle is quite sturdy but soft enough to allow the gel to be squeezed out adequately without too much pressure and the gel flows with ease once dispensed. The consistency seemed far thinner than I remembered from using this brand, though as I've only used the Mint then this may be normal for the Lavender but for me it seemed a bit too runny so I wondered how it would fare when it came to lathering up. The gel has an amazing fragrance but having said that if you are not a fan of the lavender scent then this really wont appeal as it's *very* lavender orientated. What I noticed immediately about this though was the addition of the tea tree which is very noticeable and sits alongside the lavender equally without being overpowered by the lavender which can at times can domineer - here though it doesn't. The colour of the gel is a delicate purple and has a slight transparency though once mixed with water it becomes a milky white in colour and the fragrance also intensifies I've noticed. Once applied to my bath sponge and then rubbed on to my skin I found that the gel didn't lather up quite as much as I was hoping for and though it turned white it didn't give me the creamy bubbles I presumed I would get. Cleansing wise I really can't fault it as I've been decorating recently and also been doing several 'mucky jobs' outside in the garden now the snow has finally melted so I've needed a good scrub once in the shower and this gel has been the one on the go for the past two weeks so has been used several times by myself, husband and even children whilst in the bath. **Recommended?** I've since used the remainder of the contents of the gel up and although it did the job I found it to be just *okay* so I'm not sure whether I'll personally be buying this one again. I like a shower gel that lathers up with minimal effort and found that this product just didn't do this and the fact that quite a lot of the gel needed to be used on each occasion also meant that the bottle didn't last very long at all. I know this only costs £1 but there are plenty of other branded gels out there that last far longer for the same money so think I'll give this lavender one a miss in the future. The gel does have a lovely aroma there is no denying that but it failed to linger on my skin which was disappointing, especially when I used it on an evening ready for winding down and sleeping, but as soon as I was dried and dressed there was not even a hint of the lavender aroma unfortunately. I've since purchased the Mint & Tea Tree gel by the same brand and have to say I've been much more impressed with this as it's still effective in waking up my skin with it's tingly coldness but unfortunately the same can't be said for this doing the opposite. I'm a big fan of lavender scented products and maybe I've just been spoiled recently by using my Yves Rocher lavender gel, but I found this to be a let down in comparison with the other fragrances by the same brand so can only award it 2/5 from my own personal experience of using it.
THE PRODUCT ____________ Today Im writing about Original Sources Lavender and Tea Tree Shower Gel. With every one of the lavender shower gels containing no less than 27 handfuls of lavender in every pack. It is a divine natural treat for any stressed body, the fragrant power of purple Lavender provides a sweet ingredient for all kind of balms, salves, cosmetics and perfumes, that will famously aid sleep and relaxation. To give it an extra lift, it is combined with the legendary healing power of tea tree oil in this relaxing shower gel, to create double the dreamy, soothing effect. Feel the benefit from nature's nurture and give yourself a well-deserved scrub with our gorgeous lavender body wash. This is one of many in the Original Source Shower gel range. You can purchase these shower gels from supermarkets and chemists, such as Boots, Tesco, and Asda. It comes in a 250ml bottle which is priced normally at about £2.20ish unless it is on offer. MY EXPERIENCE ______________ I suffer with mild acne on my back and shoulders so when Im shopping for shower gels or bath products I look for products to help ease the syptoms or make it better. Tea tree oils are great for that as they have healing properties, so anything with this is I am drawn to. I came across this body wash in Tescos and this one stood out because of the colour. The show gel is in a tall square bottle with a hook on the top, and the cap on the bottom so it stand up-side down. It is see through so you can see the gel inside, this particular one is purple, and my favorite colour is purple so I picked it up. (typical girl I know!) They apon reading that it had Tea tree oil in, and that it was suitable for vegetarians (yes, Im a veggie) I decided to open the cap and give it a quick whiff. Well I have to say it is a strong smell of lavender and tea tree oil, but it has a sweetness to it and the smells compliment each other. Then looking at the price, I actually umm-ed and ahh-ed because it was over £2! But still I decided to try it. Using it- Get in the shower and wet body...... squirt about a 10p sized amount out and rub in to body..... and now relax :) then use warm water to rub off. So firstly, the consitencey is thick, but workable and the smell really takes over here, when you start rubbing it it the different scents start to infuse, it creates a relaxing feeling. Thee first time I used it I used about 10p sized amount andd from this I got no lather at all, so the next time I used double and again, no bubbles for me, I tried a third time and now the gel was filling my hand and still nothing. So Iv gone back down to using 10p. Afterwards- well my skin feels soft and looks nice, but it has had no effect what so ever on my skin., it hasnt made it worse or better .Also it doesnt leave any fragrence on the skin either, which is dissapointinng as it smells really nice well applying it. MY OPINION ___________ Overall Im very disapointed with this shower gel, normally Original source products are good and I trust the brand, but with this experience I wouldnt buy it again and I wouldnt recommend. Its ok for a basic gel but at £2.20 I think its a very bad buy. It doesnt lather, meaning you have to use loads to get any effect, which isnt good value for money, it doesnt help skin and although it smells great it doesnt last at all. 2/5 from me on this occasion. Thanks for reading and rating AmyBoo
Original Source products are something that I will always buy if I see them on offer. I try to get something I haven't had before every time and the newest was the Lavender and Tea Tree shower gel. Original Source is a company that is proud to use as many British products as possible. Their 'About Us' page on the website (www.originalsource.co.uk) states that they are proud to use British products and where possible, will always use these. Original Source are a member of the Aromatherapy Trade Council and also work closely with the Vegan Society. The website also has a great list of promises that the company has made and they can be seen below. Never ever consider, or even think of, showering or bathing as a routine Always remain curious Use our senses to discover intense experiences Use natural ingredients Never tire of looking for new ingredients Never stop messing around with new ingredients and packaging Never test our products on animals Always test our products on ourselves Never be wasteful This shower gel comes in the usual Original Source packaging, a clear bottle which lets you see the colour of the product inside. The plastic the bottle is made out of feel quite thick and not flimsy at all unlike some other shower gel bottles I have had before. The brand name and variety of the shower gel are printed on the front of the bottle. The colour of the shower gel inside and the Original Source packaging make this a product that is hard to miss on the shelf. The bottom of the bottle is black and that is where you can find the flip lid which allows you to get at the shower gel itself. The clasp clicks open with ease and I have never had problems being able to open it, even with wet hands. The bottle is also really easy to grip whilst in the shower and I have not had any problems with it slipping out of my hands. I really like the packaging as sad as that sounds but it is one of the better brands out there for good packaging. As soon as you flip open the lid to this shower gel, the strong smell of lavender hits you immediately. Although this shower gel has tea tree in it as well, it is quite overpowered by the lavender. I love lavender as a scent and find it really relaxing so this is a product I tend to use more at night rather than in the morning. As with all Original Source shower gels, once put onto a shower puff, it lathers up really well so you don't need to use a lot of it at once. The shower gel lathers up quickly, filling the bathroom with a wonderfully relaxing scent. This shower gel is also really soft on the skin and it feels fantastic to use. Original Source can be found is all major supermarkets or anywhere that sells cosmetics/ toiletries. At regular price, the same size bottle will usually set you back somewhere between £2.50 and £3 which is still very reasonable and well worth paying for such an amazing product. Original Source shower gels can often be found on offer though so they're worth looking out for. I really love this shower gel and is now one of my favourites from Original Source. I do with the tea tree was a bit more evident but I don't mind too much because I love the lavender scent so much.
I am not brand loyal when it comes to shower gels and normally purchase what is on a good special offer at the time. One of the brands of shower gel that I always keep my eye out for offers on is the Original Source ones. This is because not only are they good quality they also have gorgeous fragrances. When I spotted the range on offer recently in Superdrug I decided to purchase a fragrance that I had not tried before, Lavender and Tea Tree. My main reason for choosing this scent over one of the fruity fragrances that I would normally go for is that it contains Tea Tree and the skin on my back as been strangely a little spotty at the moment so after previously trying the Mint and Tea Tree and finding an improvement I thought I would give the Lavender scent a try for a change. Original Source toiletry products contain only natural fragrances. The company aims to source as many of its ingredients for its products as it can in the UK and works closely with the fair-trade foundation and the Vegan society. It also only tests its products on people and not animals. To find out more you can visit there very nice website www.originalsource.co.uk. The shower gel comes in a 250ml bottle and was on a half price special offer at just £1.00 in Superdrug recently. In my opinion this was a great price and I think I will be stocking up while this offer is on, as the full price is a little out of my budget. The bottle is made of a clear plastic which is smooth on the front and textured on the back. The bottle allows you to be able to see how much of the purple coloured shower gel is left inside so you can make sure you replace it before it runs out. I do like the way the bottle stands on the flip top cap as it allows the shower gel to be ready to squeeze out straight away rather than having to wait for it to reach the top and shaking the bottle when it is running out. The labels on the front of all Original Source toiletries always have modern block print writing on the front which always contains a fact about the product inside. This Lavender and Tea Tree shower gel's fact is that '157 lavender flowers are packed into one bottle' to make it just perfect. I love the addition of these little facts as it makes you aware of just how much thought and hard work goes into making a quality product like this. The bottle is also made out of recycled plastic and also has recycle instructions on the back to allow you to do your bit for the planet too. The shower gel itself is easy to get out of the bottle by flipping the black cap open and squeezing the bottle with the shower gel having a rather thick somewhat jellified texture it dispenses easily. The purple colour is really girly and nice, and the wonderful fragrance is amazing. You can smell the shower gel as soon as you squeeze it out of the bottle, it has a gorgeous light, floral fragrance which smells fantastic! Sometimes Lavender fragranced products can be a little overpowering but I think this shower gel has just the right balance. I always use my shower gels on a body puff as I like the way it seems to make the shower gel foam up a little more and also helps to exfoliate my skin a little. I have found that this shower gel does not lather up as much as some do which is a little disappointing but the lovely fragrance makes up for that. Lavender is known for its calming properties and I will say that after my showers I did feel rather relaxed. I would not say that I could smell the fragrance much on my skin after I had got out of the shower and dried off but to me this was not a really bad thing as I do not think Lavender would mix well with my perfume. But I was very impressed that it left my skin still feeling soft and having now used this for a week I have noticed an improvement to the skin on my back which was getting a little spotty, so hopefully the tea tree is helping to get my skin back to its old self. Overall this shower gel has really surprised me it helps me feel calm and relaxed in the morning and is also improving my skin!
Being a massive fan of Original Source I regularly keen an eye out for anything form their collection I don't yet have and when I spotted this one I decided it was worth a try but is this something for my collection or something for the bin? Pros: This shower gel is one which is of a great consistency meaning that you can simply use the amount you need to therefore cut down on waste of product and money. The fragrant lavender smell is the main fragrance with this product but it also contains tea tree oil so that even with the added benefit you don't lose out on the fragrance you expect. This shower gel comes in well designed packaging with the bottle able to stand on its own and being good in that you can use as much or as little of the product as you need each time with ease. The product is a nice vibrant colour purple which for some reason makes the product more appealing and something you are happy to reach for (I guess it is the entire association thing so with it being a light and clean colour then you associate it as such). The shower gel itself leaves your body feeling clean and relaxed and with the fragrance of lavender known for it calming and relaxing properties this is a shower gel which is great for unwinding with after a long hard day. The product is great value for money as you get plenty of washes from each and every bottle you buy. Negatives: None This is another great product for those looking for a nicely fragranced and relaxing shower gel that still manages to leave your body feeling clean and fresh. Great value for money a simple yet effective packaging mean that this is one to consider for your shelves at home and one I would happily buy again and recommend to anyone.
I purchased this as part of a 2 for £3 deal at Superdrug but how silly of me, I should have tried the Body care shop first. Body care generally sell toiletries cheaper and they were selling Original Source shower gels at just 99p, so I could have got 3 for just under £3 or just purchased one bottle which was my original intention. Original Source Tea Tree & Lavender Shower Gel comes in a 250ml bottle. I'm told on the front of the bottle that it has been made up of 27 handfuls of real lavender to make this one relaxing bottle of Original Source Lavender and Tea Tree Shower Gel, Packed with Essential Oils. It's a simple container made up of transparent plastic with a black top at the bottom, with a little flip lid to open and squeeze its body to dispense the shower gel. In the bottle the shower gel appears as a darker purple colour than when it is dispensed. It appearance outside of the bottle is different as it appears as a translucent pale purple colour, it's not creamy but more of a liquid form, kind of like washing up liquid or baby shampoo consistency. I would have preferred it to be a bit creamier in consistency but never mind it actually does its job and lathers up quite well. I used this product with a loofah body sponge thingie and was sure that it would just sink into the loofah since it was liquid, it did slightly but it still managed to lather up when rubbed in a circle motion on the skin. This shower gel smells so gorgeous you can smell the lavender and also a sort of antiseptic smell probably from the tee tree oil, this shower gel reminded me so much of Radox with all its herby aroma. The fragrance from this shower gel lightly lingers on the skin after the shower for a while. The purpose of this shower gel is to provide you with the ultimate relaxation after a nightmare day. I tried this in the morning and felt invigorated and didn't feel tired at all. Skin was left soft and well balanced in moisture no sign of over dryness or itching. The shower gel washed off the skin with ease, it just glided off with water unlike with creamy products which take a while to rinse off the skin. Since this is made up of essential oils it may not be suitable for certain types of skin and also care should be taken to avoid the eyes. It mentions that it contains sulphites for anyone who has allergies. Overall it's a great shower gel, wish it was creamier but it seems to lather, clean and leave my skin in perfect condition. It did a much better job than my Sanex sensitive shower cream.
This is a absolutely gorgeous shower gel. I love lavenender, and this is the perfect pampering treat for me. The product is made with all natural oils, which gives it an extravagant edge over other shower gels. The smell is very strong, and stays on your skin afterwards. As much as i love this shower gel, it is not one that i can use daily. This is for a few reasons, the first being the price. It is not overly expensive but some supermarkets have got such fantastic offers on other branded shower gels, it is hard to resist buying them. As strange as it sounds, i cant use this daily because of the smell. I know ive said i love it, which i do. But using it regular, it looses its luxry. I learnt this the hard way! But thankfully its got its appeal back. If you would rather have a bath, there is also a lavender bubble bath which is equally lovely!
At the moment with being on holiday rather alot on campsites with only showers I have been doing that every day but because of that I have been getting through tons of the shower products of late! I spotted this in Poundland costing of course a pound a bottle and knowing that this usually costs around £2.00 a bottle in usual supermarkets (if it's not on offer) I decided it was a bit of a bargain and never trying it before I decided it was about time I tried it because I love lavender fragranced products as a rule. The Packaging: 250ml frosted white bottle with a black plastic flip-top lid situated to the bottom of it concealing a small hole. On the front of the bottle I'm told it is Intensely Relaxing, Original Source, Lavender And Tea Tree Shower 'Packed With Essential Oils'. On the back of the bottle other information includes being told a bit about the product, directions for use are given, I'm told it is Vegan friendly, ingredients are listed, size is stated and contact details for CZ Cussons are listed (the manufacturer of the product). Nice enough bottle and it looks suitable in it's appearance for men and/or women to purchase and use. A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Bottle: We've crammed 27 handfuls of real lavender into this tranquilizing shower gel. Experience ultimate relaxation with 100% pure & natural Lavender & Tea tree essential oils. Packed with natural stuff & perfect after a nightmare day! The Shower Gel Itself: Well its a lilac and transparent stiffish gel. You apply it onto a wet/damp body in what ever way you choose of course! Smell wise.... well it really does smell of natural and sweet lavender with a hint of a menthol fragrance to it that helps to really pop the lavender fragrance out of it more. You need a rather small blob of this and it lathers into white, thick, rich lather immediately. It feels soft and gentle on the skin and slightly cooling and very cleansing and if you wish to there is enough lather in here to shave your bits and bobs with if desired. It cleans the body well, rinses off the skin with complete ease and leaves no residue behind. I feel clean and refreshed and very smooth and slightly hydrated. I do think that the fragrance is calming and that fragrance stays delicately on the skin for a good few hours too. A perfectly pleasant daily shower gel that is none agitating on the skin and is perfect for the whole family to use in my opinion! Not bad at all and no moans from me on this one! This review is also posted on Ciao under this same username.
I was very impressed with Original Source Tea Tree & Lavender Shower gel. It has a very powerful, invigorating, sharp 'real lavender' scent; it smells just like essential oil of lavender (which is not surprising, as according to the blurb on the recyclable plastic pacakging, there are '26 handfuls' of lavender that go into the making of each bottle), and the scent doesn't - unlike other lavender-based products and fragrances I've tried - 'change' into something different within a few hours of your using it. (Admittedly the lavender scent doesn't linger strongly or even noticeably on your skin, but this is better than it changing into a eg. a stale or sickly-sweet scent). The transparent shower gel is an attractive colour of pale purple when it comes out of the bottle, and foams up generously in water when you use it. (You might think foaming up is a given for all shower gels, but I was using a Tesco own-brand product recently that barely worked up a lather no matter how much you tried to froth it up). The packaging - while nice and solid - still delivers gel out of the 'squeeze through' nozzle / opening easily and effectively. I believe I read on it that it's made using recycled plastic, so that's presumably another plus point. I don't usually pay that much attention to the look of a product, but I do quite like the design of the Original Source company's bottles and the print on them...it's been much imitated (eg by the rubbish Tesco own-brand gel I mentioned earlier) but not so far even equalled by anybody else (that I've encountered, anyway). I do find this shower gel has a slight tendency to make my skin feel a bit 'tight' in places - this is no doubt attributable to the astringent effects of the tea-tree oil, which it also contains, but this is a small price to pay for such a lovely lavendery product. It ususally costs about the £2 from most supermarkets and chemists; I got mine on special offer at 99p a bottle during a recent (Tesco) promotion. When I see it for this price again, I shall certainly stock up.
Original Source are another one of those companies with strong environmental, animal and health ethics. This relates into heavily in their products. This Lavender an Tea Tree shower gel is many things; it is suitable for Vegans, Accredited by the Aromatherapy trade council, the bottle is fully recyclable, not tested on animals and 'domestically produced to minimize product miles'. So you can be sure in choosing this product you are doing a planet friendly, animal friendly thing. Best of all it is also very YOU friendly! It is sold in a bottle which is a stretched out triangle shape lightly frosted creating a very nice appearance. These also have practical functions as it is easy to hold with the slight texture to it, no dropping it on toes in the shower (always a good thing), and you can always see how much is left in the bottle. The packaging also proudly shouts out there there are '27 handfuls of real lavender' in the one 250ml bottle. The shower gel is a purple shade, as you would expect for all those 27 handfuls, and has strong lavender scent to it too. It is a reasonably thick gel and squirts easily out of the bottle, which has rubber bung, so it is really simple to get the desired amount and not waste it. The lavender smell is still very prominent when using and is very relaxing, so much so I always use this on a night and not when I'm trying to wake myself up on a morning! It lathers up OK, although nowhere near the amount imperial leather do, but then this is a fruity (yes I know lavender isn't a fruit but you try thing of a better word!), scent based shower gel. Regardless of it's lather I still find it does a good job at moisturising my skin, although I don't have dry skin so I don't know how it would affect that. The scent doesn't last too long on the skin after showering, so it doesn't clash with other perfumed products but the smell lasts for ages in the bathroom which is really nice. To me this is a very pampering shower experience and makes me not only feel good about my self but about the animals, and planet that I've helped saved by choosing this. This is only one of the many Original Source products I use as I alternate them to my mood. Lavender and Tea Tree always has a place in my shower cubicle when I'm in one of those feel-good pampering moods, or if I'm planning on snuggling up in bed with a good book.
I have now decided that I am blatently being defiant with using Shower Gel. However, I have been to the Doctor about my arm today only to be told I should have had my Skin Grafts to remove my abcess in June of this year but because of some Clerical error I am still waiting. As you can imagine I am furious as I would no longer be using Hibi Scrub as the grafts would have healed by now. So as soon as I got home I jumped in the shower with an Original Source Shower Gel. Plus the Doctor has been poking around in my arm so it felt sticky and horrible. If you are a reader of my review you will know I have already reviewed the Winter Gel and Dragon Fruit one but this time it is one of my favorites I am going to review. Original Source is a well known brand that not only does Shower Gel but also Bubble Bath. They also do a fab refill off one of their Gel's and it is the most coolest packet I have ever seen. On my last Morrisons trip I put about 20 Shower Gel's into my trolley and the Tea Tree and Lavender was one of them. The bottle is a lightly frosted one but you can still see the lovely coloued purple Gel on the inside. This is another bottle with the lid on the top to ensure you get all the Gel out which is black in colour. The bottle is larger at the bottom going smaller at the top which is common in most of the Original Source Shower Gel's. On the front label the Original Source Logo is written in balck over a lavender, purpely background, with the Lavender and Tea Tree written in a Lilac colour. It also advises me that it is packed Essential Oils. As I was reading the back of the bottle I was astonished to read there are 27 handfuls of Lavender packed into the one bottle of Gel. It also makes me laugh whenever I read the back of the bottles as they state 'We're not sure if Reincarnation exsists, but you can give this bottle a second life. Let it be a Road Sign or a Park Bench. PLEASE RECYCLE'. I always ensure I recycle so please do so if you try this one. Lavender is such a lovely plant and I grow it outside of my front room window so when the window is open in the summer the smell that wafts through is amazing. Lavender is purple in colour and the Essential oil of has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. For one of those random facts of the day - It was actually used in hospitals during World War One to disinfect floors and walls. Lavender is claimed to soothe and heal insect bites, Bunches are also said to repel insects. If applied to the temples, Lavender Oil is said to soothe headaches and it is frequently used as an aid to sleep and relaxation which it has been in this Shower Gel. It is advised however, ingesting Lavender should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tea Tree is taken from the leaves of the tree Melaleuca alternifolia which is native to the northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia. As I am not a gardening or tree person this is one I had never heard of before. Tea Tree is generally used for Antiseptic reasons in Skin Care and various ailments, including MRSA and even Dandruff. However, the Essential oil is Toxic if swallowed and can cause the most unsightly side affects. But if it is being used to soothe a sore throat for example you can buy it in Herbal Tea form Or even in Leaf form which you can soak in water. The combination of the both in this particular Shower Gel is amazing. As soon as I opened the bottle the strong smell of the mixture was just amazing. It really does smell like the Lavender flowers which are outside of my windows. Some people think that Lavender can smell quite bad if it is too strong but this Shower Gel is just right. As soon as I poured the Gel into my hand the smell wasn't quite as strong and even rubbing the Gel in the smell wasn't as strong as it was in the bottle. I could have just lay in the bath for hours whilst using it as the Lavender made me so relaxed and the Tea Tree which I thought would sting (especially my arm) didn't. I am hoping it will help the last few problems I have had with my skin recently. Even when I was drying myself the relaxing scent was amazing and as for softness. Wow... my skin was lovely. I generally use this one before bed as the Lavender really does aid peaceful sleep (for me anyway) and I am still chilled the next morning when I wake up, with super soft skin. I paid £1.00 for this 250ml bottle and I am so glad I did. After months of restless sleep all it took was a bath with Original Source to relax me so I will certainly be using this one again.
After just getting out of the shower and having finished off the last of the bottle i brought two weeks ago i thought it was time i reviewed it. The bottle itself as you can see from the picture above is a strange shape of a mix between a triangle and a rectangle, it has a flip top lid that is quite easy to open and has a rubber bung in it to stop the liquid running out untill the bottle is squeezed. The bottle itself is see through making it easy to see when you are running low so you can restock. The label on the front of the bottle says lavender and tea tree shower but doesnt specify what, i would say this is a gel though as it is very thick, it does lather well but i found i needed quite a lot of it as it was so thick. This has not been tested on animals which is always a good thing in my opinion as original source claim to test there products on them selves how true this is i dont know. The bottle is recyclable so will be making its way into my green bin any time soon. It does state on the back of the bottle that it is packed with essential oils which is obviously the lavender and tea tree so may not be suitable for all skin types, i found that it dryed out the oily areas of my skin which is exactly what i expected from the tea tree in this product but i was a little concerned it may dry out the dryer areas of my skin too but it didnt, it left my skin feeling very soft and smooth after use although avoid broken skin with this as i have a graze on my arm at the moment and it stung a lot when in contact with this. The smell in my bathroom from the lavender was lovely and relaxing but it doesnt linger very strongly on your skin so you dont have to worry about it clashing with your perfume. A 250ml bottle of this cost me just £1 on a 2 for £2 deal at morrisons.
I really like Original Source products. This shower gel is wonderful. The tea tree really makes your skin tingle and so you feel so so clean afterwards. It feels as though you have exfoliated, even though this is not an exfoliating product. The strongest smell is the lavender. I really like it because I love the smell of lavender. Also, I find it is really great to use for an evening shower to help you unwind after a long day and to relax you ready for bed. You do not need to use much of the shower gel as it is very thick and of such a good quality that a little goes a long way and lathers brilliantly. This is one of my all time favourite shower gels. 250ml bottles cost about two pound and so they are pretty expensive but like I said, they go a long way so last pretty well. Also, the smell is so divine and the feeling so invigorating and at the same time relaxing that it is well worth the money. I would highly recommend this shower gel.
I love the Original Source products and I love the smell of lavender so Dave knew he'd be on to a winner when he bought this one as a stocking filler at Christmas. The only Original Source fragrances that I don't like are the Pure Lime and Pure Lemon and Mint fragrances. These fragrances are just too strong for my liking. If you don't know what I mean just try them and you'll soon find out! The container is transparent plastic and this one stands on its black lid so that all the contents run to the correct end of the container. I don't know if they still make the ones with hooks on to hang in the shower as it doesn't matter to me any longer as the shower in our new cottage has a nice shelf as well as grab rails so I am happy either way. The container has a flip top lid and is wider at the lid end tapers away from that towards the top so that the whole thing is stable when it is standing on the shelf. How many times have you knocked over a badly designed shower gel only to have it split open on the shower floor? Actually maybe that is just me - I have always been clumsy! You just need to flip open the lid and squeeze a little of the gel, you don't need to use very much, onto your sponge or your hands and rub it all over your body whilst under the shower. You can also use it to wash your hair, but I'm not too keen on this idea. I would rather use proper shampoo and conditioner. The tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic and the lavender oil is good for relaxation and combating stress, and the combination of the two makes for an ideal way to start the day in a calm frame of mind or to calm down at night ready for sleep. The shower gel is lovely to use with lots of thick lather and after using it my skin feels moisturised and smooth. The fragrance is much more lavender than tea tree although the tea tree is definitely there and it lingers both in the air and on the skin for a while so it's great if you do like the smell of lavender as you keep getting a whiff of it! According to the information on the front of the bottle it takes 27 handfuls of lavender to help make one relaxing bottle of this particular shower gel. Apparently the original inspiration for these products was taken from the bush remedies of a lady called Ellen Wakeman who was the daughter of missionaries living in New South Wales. She had run away from home to join the goldrush of 1857 and somehow ended up as a barber's assistant. She soon began to discover the healing powers of the plants native to the outback and subsequently became famous for her herbal cures. The Original Source range of today allegedly still uses some of the ingredients that were discovered by Ellen Wakeman, although how much of that is true and how much is sales hype I wouldn't like to hazard a guess! The products do all contain natural oils rather than synthetic fragrances and are not tested on animals. As with all products containing essential oils it is worth making sure that they are appropriate for you before you use them. For example it is not advisable to use certain oils of you're pregnant. The shower gels are about £1.93 for a 250ml container at Boots and it is always as well to keep your eye open for special offers, as Boots often offer two for the price of one, and stock up while the going's good!
