Original Source Tea Tree & Lavender Shower Gel
Advantages: Foamy, Lasts Ages, Smells Lovely, Tea Tree Enhanced
Disadvantages: If You Don't Like Lavender It's Not For You.
This was given to me by my parents as a little stocking filler at Christmas. Now I probably spend longer in the bath than anyone I know. I just get so relaxed that the prospect of getting out is just too much for me! I used to always be in the shower which took far less time but for some reason I went off this and started to resort back to spending my life in the bath.
So I think in an attempt to convince me to go back to my old showering ways - my parents got me quite a few bottles of shower gel (either that or it was just a really nasty hint!) So I decided my new year's resolution could be to save time and shower more than I bathe.
I tend to have showers or baths at night time instead of in the morning (because I'm not really a morning person and the prospect of getting up early doesn't really appeal to me) so usually im relatively sleepy and when I have a shower it wakes me up and leaves me feeling unable to sleep.
However using Original Source in its lavender form suits me perfectly. Most people will know that lavender is often associated with sleep and relaxation which is why its perfect for use before bedtimes.
It is promoted as each bottle containing 27 handfuls of lavender contained in it and if this is the case I really wouldn't be surprised. It has a strong scent, and although this can sometimes be off putting I myself find that because it is a favourable smell it is nice that it gives of such a strong scent.
You can also place this product in your bath if you want to substitute it for bath foam and it works just as well, although for me personally I find that it just means I am unable to drag myself out of the bath for even longer because it is so relaxing and it makes me so sleepy!
Another thing that I really like about the whole Original Source range is the fact that their shower gels and shampoos etc are really foamy! I often exfoliate my skin using an exfoliating cloth and it is really good because the lather of the shower gel means that I can use the cloth easier and it also means that you do not have to use a lot of the product at once.
Some shower gels which I use I tend to find smell lovely in the shower, while I am using them, however once you actually dry yourself you can't smell them anymore and it all seems a bit pointless. However I don't find this with the Original Source gels, I find that I smell of them quite some time after I have used them.
Another benefit of using the lavender variety is that it also contains tea tree. This is a natural way of relieving dry skin and problem areas which means that your skin is left far more rejuvenated after use. It also means that if you suffer from in growing hairs them you can use an exfoliating brush and the wash to try to help to prevent/soothe them.
The packaging of the product is really useful too. It comes in a slender bottle with the opening at the bottom, meaning that when the product is running out you don't have to stand it the wrong way round and wait impatiently as the gel slides to the appropriate area. The bottle is also slightly rectangular which makes it easier to grasp (which is useful if you are as clumsy as me and find yourself dropping everything)
In terms of value I would say that the product is priced well, because it was a gift I don't know what my parents paid although I know that in Boots the cost of a 250ml bottle is £1.97, pretty reasonable considering you don't need to use a lot of the product so it last pretty long. I have also seen multi packs available in Costco, and although I am not sure how much they were I remember noting that they were better value and you also get not only the lavender variety, but lemon and lime too.
I would recommend this product to people who like strong smelly products and who like to take their time when they are bathing. If you want a quick shower then this product probably isn't for you since I find myself unable to tear myself away from the shower room!
