“ Brand: Original Source / Texture: Cream / Type: Shower Cream „
I love the Original Source range and always end up buying the new 'flavours' as and when I come across them. I've had this White Pear and Avocado Shower Cream stashed away at the back of my cupboard for ages, and have finally got around to digging it out and using it. There are additional items in this particular Original Source range, and I am also using the matching shampoo and conditioner.
Product description: "We've coupled white pear and avocado to create this delicately moisturising shower cream. Jump in the shower and help to soften and hydrate your thirsty skin whilst enjoying the full on fresh fruity fragrance. Packed with natural stuff and perfect to revive weary skin."
It comes in a clear plastic bottle which allows the product to show through, and I like this because it allows you to see exactly how much you have left inside. The bottle has a plastic flip-top lid at the base of the bottle with a small hole underneath which the product is dispensed through. The only thing I have trouble with is paying enough attention to using the correct bottle (as it looks identical to the conditioner) and I have ended up accidentally using this shower cream in my hair instead of on my body.
Recommended directions for use: Pour out, delight your skin.
The fragrance of this shower cream is quite unusual, and not exactly what I was expecting. I had thought that it might have a sweet scent because of the pears (admittedly I am not sure what avocados smell like, so it might be more avocado-y), but instead it has a very fresh and clean scent to it, like the type of fragrance you get with beauty products made from aloe vera or cucumber. This is nice in its own way and I think it would be suitable for both men and women to use as the fragrance is quite neutral.
The gel itself has a creamy white colour with just the slightest tint of green to it, which fits in with the ingredients used. This shower cream has a gooey gel-like texture, but when I use this with my shower puff it foams up well to produce a thick creamy lather. This feels nice and gentle on my skin, making sure that I'm fully clean but also helping to care for my skin by leaving it soft and moisturised. I think that this is more moisturising than most standard shower gels, and the creamy consistency really seems to help to improve the condition of my skin.
Overall I think this is a nice shower gel that performs well all round and I am happy to recommend it.
This is a vegan product and Original Source are against animal testing - please keep your beauty cruelty free!
Original Source is my brand of choice for my shower gels and I have much of the range on my shelves so when a new one comes out I normally decide to give it a try, with this the newest one to have come to my attention. Despite thinking about this one long and hard and just thinking it didn't sound like the smells would work I decided to give it a try but was it worth it?
Original Source is a brand which I have used for a while now and have grown to trust and am happy to recommend to people they give a try with everyone who does thanking me and saying they love the products.
This is another of the Original Source shower products which offers up a real sensation based product as the fragrance from the white pear and avocado give you a very strong and invigorating smell (this is going to be dependant on your tastes as with everything) and one that I have found to be a very fresh smell.
The shower cream is of a very good consistency meaning it lasts well and you have less waste than normal with a shower cream.
The cream offers you a very soft feeling skin that you can tell is clean aswell as being refreshed every single time you use it.
The packaging follows the pretty much standard bottle type of Original Source shower gels/creams which is fine with me as the bottle is easy to hold, simple to get the cream out of with control over how much you use and stands on its own which is all I can ask.
None for me
This is a shower cream I actually really like (unusual for me as I normally prefer to use gels) as it manages to leave your skin feeling clean, soft and refreshed. A nice fragrance to this shower cream means it is one for all of the senses. Great value for money and good packaging make this something that I highly recommend for anyone looking for something new to try.
I have been steadily working through the large amount of toiletries I had received from my mother in law and it seems I have a wide and varied selection! I'm not loyal to any particular brand of shower gel/ cream I tend to buy whatever takes my fancy or generally whatever is on offer.
My shower cream of choice (or the first one I picked out my cabinet) is from Original Source and is the white pear and avocado variety which although probably wouldn't be something I'd choose myself just because I'm not a fan of pears but as it was bought for me I couldn't just waste it.
Original Source is a brand which is quite widely known for their use of natural products in their items. They create products such as shower creams, handwash, shampoo, conditioners and all tend to have the same theme - made from fruit and vegetable extracts. Another good point about Original Source is that they never test anything on animals.
** White Pear and Avocado **
White pears are apparently rich in vitaman C which is a great match with avocado as avocado is known for its moisturising properties ideal to pamper your skin and make it feel baby soft. Avocados contain vitamins A, B, D and E and is used widely as a natural ingredient. The shower cream is ideal for thirsty skin which needs softening and replenishing.
** Packaging **
The shower cream comes in a rectangular, clear plastic bottle with a black flip top lid or base, whichever way you look at it. Like all Original Source packaging the front labels are all very similar, bold black and green font (green I guess resembles avocados!). There are no images just font which is what is expected with all Original Source products. Clean and simple and it makes a nice change to images. On the back there is a list of ingredients, usage and contact info - exactly what you would expect.
** In Use **
* Consistency *
The shower cream has a lovely, thick consistency which although thick it is easily squeezed out of the bottle. The shower cream is white in colour and is not transparent. It almost has a gel type feel to it although rich to the touch it holds it shape on the sponge once out of the bottle until you rub it onto the sponge or directly onto skin.
* Aroma *
Now I don't know what exactly I was expecting really as both pears and avocados have quite subtle scents. However, this shower cream certainly has an aroma which is fresh, almost a sweet floral aroma which I found quite synthetic. It reminded me of a synthetic pear fragrance (similar to a fragranced candle) and even though perfectly pleasant it wasn't my ideal aroma. Despite finding the aroma quite synthetic it was bold and in your face and even though it was ever present during a shower it is mild and gentle which is fine with me.
* In the shower *
Now I use a sponge in the shower with an exfoliating layer and I find that even using just a small amount (10p size) you get a far amount of rich white lather which is luxuriously soft and delicate. I think using anymore would just waste the shower cream and you would end up with more lather than you would want. The lather is easily rinsed away with the water but it does last on the skin for quite sometime before rinsing.
The shower cream is lovely and soft on the skin and because it keeps its shape on the sponge you don't end up wasting it by letting it go down the drain as once on a sponge it can easily be massaged in and put on the skin. The shower cream really does feel lovely on the skin and even though the synthetic aroma is ever present it is quite a fresh scent which is pleasant.
Post shower and my skin was no different to what it was before using this shower cream. I have now been using it for around a month or so (twice a day) and my skin looks no different. I do suffer with dry skin and I thought this may help moisturise and nourish my skin but no! I've still had to use moisturiser after the shower which isn't a chore but it would be nice to use a lighter moisturiser or even not at all.
** Price and Availability **
A 250ml bottle is the only size it comes in.
Tesco - £2.00
Asda - £1.00

No doubt available from discount stores and pharmacies.
** Overall **
Not a shower cream I would choose and once I have finished the bottle I won't be replacing it as I just don't particularly like the scent it has and that it doesn't do anything to my skin. Would I recommend? Not really. I think there are far better shower creams on the market with nicer aromas and can help nourish the skin.
I'm generally not fussy when it comes to shower gels. As long as it smells nice and gets me clean I'm quite happy. I normally have a few different varieties handy in the bathroom because I tend to buy a different one every week when I go shopping. I like to have a nice selection available so I can mix it up a bit and use a different one everyday and one brand that I always seem to have in my bathroom cabinet is Original source. I buy from this brand a lot because they're usually quite inexpensive or even better on a buy one get one free offer and they smell nice too. Last weeks new addition to the shower gel collection was the white pear and avocado variety which I chose purely because it smelt nice when I had a sniff of it at ASDA.
About the brand
Original source is a brand that started off in 1997 but was bought by PZ Cussons LTD, (the same brand that makes carex and imperial lather) in 2003. They started off making shower gels but now offer quite a large range of products including, hand wash, mens shaving products and deodorants, hair products and bubble baths. They are a brand that are big on using essential.oils and natural extracts and pride themselves on being very animal friendly and producing products that are suitable for vegans and also work with the vegan society to ensure that their products meet the necessary criteria. They are also keen to source ingredients and make products here in the UK to reduce their carbon footprint.
Packaging and Price
Original source shower gels come in two different types of bottle/packaging. There are the shower smoothies and gourmet range which are packaged in 250ml pouches to reduce packaging and therefore make them more environmentally friendly and there are the original bottles which is what the white pear and avocado product comes in. This one also contains 250ml of product and comes in a tall, squareish, transparent plastic bottle with a black flip top on the bottom. The original source logo is printed on the front along with the variety of the product inside in green text and a there is a printed statement at the bottom which reads; Packed with natural stuff. There is a second sticker on the back of the bottle which contains info on the contents, how to use and reminder about recycling when your bottle's empty. The sticker also contains a warning recommending that you keep the gel away from eyes and has the vegan society sticker as a seal of approval. My bottle was purchased from ASDA last week and I paid around £1.50 for it but prices seem to be pretty similar elsewhere and as I mentioned above there is normally some sort of deal going on with the shower range.
The gel is an almost opaque white colour and has a pretty thick consistency to it. When you flip the lid and squirt it out, the first thing that hits you is a lovely fruity smell. I think the pear is the dominant scent but I still get a whiff of the avocado too. Once applied it feels creamy and soft and lathers well. I'm normally quite generous with body wash which is another reason why I get through so much and buy it so often but I find I don't need much of this one; a few generous squirts are enough to cover me in fragrant, bubbly foam. Rinsing off is easy and I don't get any nasty residue left behind, just clean smooth skin.
White pear and avocado is described as a moisturising shower gel and I would agree with that. My skin feels soft and smooth after using, which I'm guessing is down to the moisturising properties of the avocado and I also feel lovely and clean. I still feel the need to use a body lotion after but this is something I do even after using more expensive brands such as Elemis because I feel my skin needs extra moisture. The fruity smell does linger on skin for a little while but it's only very subtle and I only get a very slight pear smell. This is fine with me as I prefer shower products to dissipate quickly so I can choose which perfume or scent I want to wear for the day/evening.
Would I recommend?
I would recommend the white pear and avocado version, particularly to anyone who suffers with that tight itchy feeling when you get out of the bath or shower. It's quite hydrating and gives thirsty skin a bit of a treat in the shower which isn't bad for a product that's less than two pounds. I've recently stocked up on a couple of the new gourmet pouches and they really are very nice, particularly the cassis and cranberry shower shot which smells lovely. There are two other delicious scents to choose from in this range too (chocolate and mint and lime and sweet chilli). Both the pouches and bottles are inexpensive and readily available which is great since it's an item most people use a lot of. As I mentioned before, original source products are a staple in my bathroom now and if you haven't already tried products from the line I recommend you pick a bottle or pouch (I prefer these) up when you're next out shopping because you really can't go wrong considering the price and quality. I even think they look quite nice in the bathroom; well the bath foams and pouches do anyway.
During a recent shopping trip I stocked up on Original Source shower creams in a number of different fragrances. They were on offer in Asda for £1.00 - they usually cost around £1.50 a bottle, so this seemed like a bargain to me.
I'd never tried Original Source White Pear & Avocado Shower Cream before. I wanted to give this product a go because the scent sounded nice - I also thought that it'd be a bit tamer than other shower gels within the Original Source range - because although I like the brand, sometimes I find their products are a bit harsh on my skin.
Original Source White Pear and Avocado Shower Cream is a white shower gel that comes in a transparent container that you can stand on the edge of your shower or bath. The flip lid is at the bottom of the bottle, so the shower gel is always ready to be dispensed.
The shower cream itself lathers up well and it has a hydrating effect on my skin - it always leaves me feeling clean and my skin is soft to touch.
I think the smell is something you'll either love or hate, but personally I am a fan of the unusual pear and avocado mix - it's fruity without being overpowering and it clings to my skin for a good few hours after use.
I feel very clean after I've used this product and it's nice to know that you're using a shower gel that is full of natural product and no artificial nasties. Also, you can recycle the bottle, which is an added advantage.
This is one of my favourite shower gels within the Original Sources range. I find that it cleanses and hydrates my skin well and the smell suits both me and my partner, because it's neither feminine nor masculine.
If you haven't tried this particular Original Sources product then I recommend that you do. I can't fault Original Source White Pear and Avocado Shower Cream - five stars.
After going shopping recently, and finding my preferred shower gel on offer (and buying enough to last me about three months!), I finally came to trying one of the scents I had yet tried, my daughter raving about, thus ending up in my shopping trolley!
The product I will now review is - "Original source - white pear and avocado shower cream".
As with the other shower gels in this range, they come in a quite unusually shaped bottle, with that being an oblong but narrowing at the top, I initially thought this was a design quirk, but after using it found it did make a difference fitting into my hand nicely, with even my young daughter finding it was easy to handle.
There is also the added bonus of it being a stand on it's lid design, meaning that there is a better chance of getting every last drop from the bottle, with the product constantly dripping into the applicator end.
The bottle again is worth mentioning as the plastic that it is made from is textured, this helps to grip the bottle and use it even when wet.
The reason this has always been my favourite brand is due to the strength of scent in the gels, leaving the skin cleansed and refreshed, but also still smelling deliciously of whatever you have showered in, so I was looking forwards to trying a new scent out.
The cream itself is white in colour and extremely thick in consistency, this always makes me feel I am getting much more for my money as very little is needed for a wash, especially when used (as I always do!) with my shower puff, thus producing heaps of thick white bubbles.
The gel (as always), leaves my skin not only clean and refreshed, but feeling smooth and soft, with there never being any hint of tightness that can sometimes be associated with skin cleansing products.
There is also never any skin irritation to speak of, so I am quite happy to allow my entire family to use the brand, my daughter is particularly pleased with this decision, I think she feels that she being allowed some sort of adult treat!
Any downsides to this shower gel........I am sorry to say, for me this can only be the scent!
I have never had any experience of an avocado before this product, so I cannot reliably state whether it is this or the overly sweet scent of the pear that my nose disagrees with, but the smell is not something I relish at all, though I can stand it long enough to use it (if there is nothing else available), and due to how light and subtle it is, the scent doesn't really linger too much after showering anyway.
This shower gel cost me £1.00 when on offer, but at normal price can be purchased for around £1.50.

Thanks for reading x
The original Source shower gels are something of a godsend, now that I have found them to buy in the pound shop! I always thought they were really posh and now I know otherwise! Naturally I stocked up and this was one that I tried, the rather succulent sounding 'White Pear and Avacado.' To me that seemed like an odd combination, but as it happens, the two work well together in a shower gel.
The packaging gets a nod from me, because they have managed to create a unique looking bottle that does not look like anything else on the shelves. This always makes it easy to find the brand. In terms of dispensing the liquid, I guess I would prefer one that pours from the top, as you always have that dribble that comes out of the bottom and still dribbles when you shut the lid. Then if you leave it for a while, it goes crusty, until it comes into contact with water again!
The smells are often the highlight of these gels and this one is no exception. A delightfully aromatic blend of pears and avocados really gets the nose working overtime. The pears rule the roost here and it made me think of spring and the first blossoming of fruit on the trees. The avocado plays second fiddle, but avacados are well known for their ability to provide the skin with essential oils, so maybe this is why they have been included. The smell is fruity and summery ravishing.
In terms of performance, I am yet to discover an Original Source that disappointed me. This delivered a great cleanse, left my body smelling fresh and fruity without being too overpowering and also left no sticky residue. I cannot quibble with the price of one pound and the smell is fantastic, but I guess come the winter the summery aroma of pears won't be quite so appealing! That aside, a fine shower experience.
I love shower gels and creams and use them most days. However although I have often seen Original Source products on sale for a pound a bottle rather often (on offer) I haven't really over indulged in them at all!
However during a recent shopping trip to Boots I wanted to stock up on a few essential items and I got into sniffing these as they were on offer near the till points. I have to admit that none of the other fragrances I sniffed appealed to me at all until I smelt this pear and avocado one that promises its packed full of natural stuff and is moisturising to skin so I felt I should give it a go.
250ml frosted white plastic see-through bottle and it has a black flip top lid to the bottom of it concealing a small hole. On the front of the bottle in green and black writing I am told that it is Moisturising Original Source White Pear And Avocado Shower Cream 'packed with natural stuff'. On the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, directions for use are given, ingredients and size is stated (as I've listed already) and contact details for PZ Cussons (the manufacturer of the product are listed). It's a nice looking shaped bottle, informative enough and appealing in appearance for both men and women to use.
A Bit About The Product According To The information Listed On The Back Of The Bottle:
We've coupled white pear and avocado to create this delicately moisturising shower cream. Jump in the shower and help to soften and hydrate your thirsty skin whilst enjoying the full on fresh fruity fragrance. Packed with natural stuff and perfect to revive weary skin.
The white liquid squeezes out of the tube with real ease. It's a soft and moisturising feeling liquid and of course you apply it to damp/wet skin with whatever tool you desire (I always use a scrunchy!).
It lathers up nicely, and gives off a really lovely, natural sweet aroma of pears that is really distinctive of that fruit. I can't smell the avocado at all really mind to be perfectly honest with you!
I can shave my bits with this and it rinses off with real ease.
Not only does this cleanse you beautifully and refresh your skin and your senses it gently hydrates the skin in a none oily way. My skin feels really soft, supple and smooth after using this and in really good condition.
I have noticed after a few days of using this continuously that my skin has a nice healthy glow to it and any rough skin patches that I had prior to using this product have now vanished.
Men and women alike can use this due to it being a nice fruity scent of course and I really do like the way it cleans the skin, leaves me delicately and freshly fragranced for a good couple of hours after using it and that my skin is in excellent, tip-top condition since using this! Thumbs up from me this one!
Available in all good chemists and supermarkets etc and I bought mine a few days ago in Boots and it cost me a pound but if not on offer expect to pay more like double that!
