Wow! What can I say but I really do like this scrub! As with some of their other products, I've found myself coming back to Palmers and even for this amazing scrub which I discovered last year. It's the best one I have used so far...
It smells divine ( it has a delicious cocoa butter scent) and Unlike other scrubs I've used it's easy to get out of the container and the particles don't get stuck under your nails. The Palmers Cocoa Body scrub has a very different texture to almost all other body scrubs I have ever used. It's extremely effective at removing dry skin but it is not abrasive. It has an almost solid but buttery creamy texture which seems to almost melt between your fingers as you scrub with the medium sized cocoa nut particles which exfoliate you perfectly.
I used a circular motion across the skins surface when applying The Palmers Cocoa Body Scrub and found it washes off the skin as a milky liquid leaving skin really moisturised and feeling extremely smooth.
I often use The Palmers Cocoa Body Scrub just before shaving my legs as i've found it prevents any ingrowing hairs and any little bumps on the skins surface - plus it's great for eliminating any dry patches before applying fake tan.
Since I've started using The Palmers Cocoa Body scrub I've noticed that I haven't needed to moisturise nearly as much as I don't seem to have any unsightly visible dry patches.
The price is good at £4.99 in Boots at the moment but it's worth shopping around as it's sometimes cheaper online.
The container deceptively small as I found it will last for weeks. It is a small round container with a screw lid. So all in all it's good value for money.
I totally recommed this great smelling product (it almost smells good enough to eat but thankfully it's one indulgence that won't pile on the pounds!) The Palmers Cocoa Body scrub leaves the skin free from irritation (I have terribly sensitive skin and was pleasantly surprised - as many scrubs leave me red and irritated - this thankfully doesn't happen when I use this product). The Palmers Cocoa Body scrub just leaves your skin soft, smooth and glowing. It feels like a little bit of luxury without the price tag!
I first bought the Palmers Cocoa Butter body lotion because I read in a magazine somewhere that Cheryl Cole likes to use it. All these years later, I am still a really big fan of the product so when I discovered that they also do a body scrub I had to snap it up.
What does the product do?
The product uses crushed Cocoa Beans to gently exfoliate the skin on the body removing the dead and dull skin cells to reveal the radiant and healthy skin cells underneath, leaving your skin feel smooth and in a better condition. It also includes Cocoa Butter and Shea Butter to deeply moisturise the skin leaving it feeling soft and looking radiant. Vitamin E is included to remove skin aging toxins from the body to keep your skin looking younger for longer.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be applied to damp skin in the shower or bath. You need to take a generous amount of the product from the pot and massage it over the body paying particular attention to tricky dry spots such as the knees and ankles. Once the job is done, you can rinse away the product and then use a good body butter or lotion.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a plain white tub and it has a picture of some Cocoa Beans on the front. The screw top lid makes it easy to access as much of the product as is needed and there is some extra information given about the product on the pot. The body scrub will cost you around £2.50 and it can be bought from department stores such as Boots, large supermarkets and also from a large variety of online websites.
Application and Aroma
The first thing I noticed when I removed the lid is that it has the same aroma as the body lotion by Palmers. It is completely delicious and chocolatey without being artificial smelling in any way. It actually looks like a body butter so you can imagine how thick and creamy it is. It is a very pale chocolate brown colour and it is packed full of the little brown exfoliating particles. I've found the product is best applied in the shower by turning off the water again once your skin has been dampened so that it isn't washed away immediately. The ground Cocoa beans are plentiful and there's millions of them in each handful that you use. The particles are hard enough to make you feel like they're doing a good job but not so hard that it hurts the skin or makes it sore.
You can always control the hardness of them by applying less pressure as you massage the product into the skin. It feels really creamy and hydrating so it makes it a luxurious experience. It is easily to rinse the product away although you do get some little bits left behind, especially if you use it in the bath. Once the skin is dry again, it feels as moisturised as if I have used the body lotion itself. My skin feels soft, hydrated and in a really good condition. My skin looks brighter and feels really smooth so it does a good job of exfoliating the skin. It goes some way to dealing with my knees and elbows too. This is perfect to use before tanning or just when your skin is dry. It doesn't seem to harsh on the skin but I still wouldn't use it more than once or twice a week.
All in all, this is a fantastic body scrub which moisturises the skin deeply while giving it a gently exfoliation using crushed Cocoa Beans. It contains plenty of natural ingredients to nourish and hydrate the skin on the body leaving it in a better condition and feeling both softer and smoother. Not only this but that lovely chocolate aroma stays on the body too which another bonus in my eyes!
About the Scrub
= = = = = = = =
The body scrub is made by Palmers whom are well known for making a large range of body care products containing Cocoa Butter. The body scrub contains a unique combination of Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Vitamin E and natural exfoliating ingredients that refine and polish to reveal brighter and smoother looking skin. The scrub has a rich and creamy texture provided by the pure cocoa and Shea butters which melt upon application. The natural crushed cocoa beans gently get rid of dry skin cells and polish your skin for a softer feel. This product is perfect to prepare and polish your skin before applying fake tan for an even radiant glow.
I used to use The Body Shop Cocoa Butter body scrub; how-ever at £12.50 this is quite expensive. I ran out of this product a few weeks ago and decided I needed to get another body scrub product as my skin is noticeably brighter and more radiant when using a scrub. I happened to be in my local Boots store when I saw this product so I thought I would give it a try.

I purchased a 200g tub of this from my local Boots store for £4.99 which I thought was a reasonable price. You can also purchase this from Superdrug and good supermarkets. Please note that prices may vary. This product can be found within the Palmers Cocoa Butter range in the skincare section where you will find body lotions and creams.

The Body Scrub comes in a large, round plastic tub which holds 200g of the product. The tub itself is made from strong clear plastic which enables you to see the product inside the tub. On the tub it has some information about the product, including how to use it. It also states that the product won stylist's skincare award in 2011. The lid to the tub is a white colour which looks slightly pearlescent. On the top of the lid is a picture of cocoa beans and it states that the product is a Body Scrub. It also states that it exfoliates, refines and polishes as well as moisturises and smoothes. To me this product does look like a body scrub due to the round tub that the product comes in as most lotions/creams tend to come in an upright bottle. The packaging stood out to me as a Palmers product due to the orange coloured Palmers logo on the top and the side of the tub.
Using the Product
= = = = = = = = =
In a warm shower or bath, apply a generous amount of Body Scrub to damp skin. Massage in circular motions all over the body especially areas of very dry skin such as the knees, elbows and heels. Once you are satisfied simply rinse the product off thoroughly.
It's a good idea to loosen the lid to the tub before using it as it's quite hard to unscrew with wet hands. When you use the product for the first time there is a plastic tray type bit over the top of the scrub so this needs taking out as well. I threw this part away, how-ever you can probably keep it to put back on the top of the scrub after use. The first thing I noticed about the scrub was the colour of it. The main colour of the scrub was a very light beige colour and you could see the crushed cocoa beans as these appeared as dark brown grains within the actual scrub itself. The scrub looked slightly shiny/glossy and it has quite a light smell to it. It doesn't smell as strong as some cocoa butter body products I have used but it still smells nice. I dipped my fingers into the scrub and I was surprised at how thick and hard the scrub was. I really had to force my fingers into the scrub to enable me to get a good amount out. I then rubbed this in circular motions over my body concentrating on the elbows and knees. The scrub was easy to use and as I used circular motions the scrub spread out across my skin. The scrub felt quite smooth against my skin, even with the crushed cocoa beans. The smell of the product was quite strong and smelt very sweet. By the time I had finished using the product over my body the bathroom smelt very, very sweet. The scrub rinsed off easily when under the shower.

After rinsing the product off of my skin and patting my skin dry, I did notice that my skin felt smoother and softer than it had done previously. The smell of the scrub was very light on my skin and no-where near as strong as it was when I was using it in the shower. The scrub was moisturising and kind to my skin without causing any irritation to it. As long as you rinse the product off thoroughly there will be no traces of the product left on your skin. Although most of the smell of the product had gone it was nice that my skin still smelt of the scrub slightly.

I really liked using this scrub as it was gentle on my skin and didn't cause any irritation. The scrub was great at exfoliating and was also very good at moisturising too. In terms of value I don't think this is badly priced when compared to other brands and similar products. I would definitely buy this product again as it's easy to use and you don't need to use huge amounts of it to see/feel the results. I love the fact that product leaves a very light scent on the skin and isn't as strong as when using the product. I would recommend this product to others, especially if you like the Palmers Cocoa Butter Range. This product deserves at least 4 stars.
