Palmolive Aromatherapy Anti-Stress Shower Gel
Advantages: Great scent, excellent lather, can help you relax
Disadvantages: Colgate Palmolive test their products on animals
I am a big fan of Palmolive personal care products, and over the years have developed a love for their range of shower gel. Not only do they smell great, they are made to meet individual needs. Their range of shower gels include products which promise to leave you feeling 'energised' and 'invigorated' or 'calm and relaxed'. My favourite has to be Palmolive Aromatherapy Anti-Stress Shower Gel.
Enriched with natural essential oils of Lavender, Ylang Ylang and Patchouli it claims to 'massage your senses and soften your skin'. When shopping, I tend to try out a different brand each time I buy, but when it comes to shower gel, since coming across this product I continue to buy only this.
Essential oils are extracted from the fragrances of aromatic plants or herbs, mainly by distillation or solvent extraction. Essential oils are extracted from many parts of the aromatic plant including the flower, stalk, leaf, seed, bark and root. I find it amazing that many common essential oils that were used in folk medicine in ancient times are still being used today, being famous for their healing properties.
So, why should I buy a shower gel product just because it contains essential oils?
Lavender has been well known since Roman times for its ability to heal, soothe and purify. (The name lavender, derives from the Latin lavare, meaning to wash.)
Lavender is often used in aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is a form of complementary medicine which uses the aromatic properties of plants to induce healing effects of the mind. Aromatherapy is based on the assumption that the fragrance of the essential oils, when inhaled through our nose, can have a direct effect on the brain and the lymph system. The effects of lavender are both calming and soothing, so lavender in your shower is the perfect way to relax after a long day at work.
Ylang ylang (meaning flower of flowers) has an exotic fragrance which is said to be warming and helpful for instilling confidence. In Indonesia, it is customary to scatter the bed of a newly wed couple with Ylang Ylang petals. Ylang Ylang is thought to be a powerful aphrodesiac. To the newly wed couple, the sensual and euphoric scent of ylang ylang bids harmony, luck and fertility. Ylang ylang is also used in aromatherapy. It is believed to reduce high blood pressure
I am not very familiar with patchouli, however I do know that it is known for its relaxation inducing effects.
In western society nowadays, we live an increasingly hectic lifestyle and it is not unusual for us to come home feeling drained and worn-out after a long, hard day at work. For me, a long, hot shower with Palmolive Aromatherapy Anti-Stress always helps. The scent alone is enough to make you smile.
A healthy balance is extremely important especially when dealing with the stresses of day to day life. Having a bath or shower may be the only real sense of alone time one gets these days, and using Palmolive Anti-Stress is a great way to unwind and enhance your senses, in addition you get to give, well deserved, time back to yourself.
Colgate Palmolive are the manufacturers of this product. They are an American based corporation who are focused on the production, distribution and provision of healthcare, personal care and household products. I have used many of their products in the past and still do nowadays. I find that their products are well suited to my personal care needs however a big disadvantage of Colgate Palmolive is that they test their products on animals. I am aware of the arguments for and against animal testing but will not get into that now.
Palmolive Aromatherapy Shower Gel Anti stress can be found at a store near you and I really recommend you give it a try (",)
The packaging is an attractive purple bottle with a floral design. The bottle is shaped like that of most Palmolive shower gels. Rounded, oval top with a flat bottom. The lid is easily opened and clicks when closed so you can be sure that spillage is minimised. It is priced at around £0.94 for a 300ml bottle in Tesco, which is a pretty good price for shower gel.

Interesting but irrelevant fact:
The word colgate translates to "hang yourself" in varieties of Spanish that use voseo.
This is my first time reviewing a beauty/body product so I will be grateful for reads/rates/suggestions. Thanks for reading.
Summary: It smells great. Good price. Leaves your skin feeling soft.
