~Amazing Grace~
Amazing Grace is a fragrance collection from beauty brand Philosophy. This collection includes a perfume, body emulsion, body scrub and a shower gel. I will be reviewing the shower gel which has the full title of 'Amazing Grace Perfumed Shampoo, Bath and Shower Gel'.
This shower gel is an award winning shower gel infused with Philosophy's best selling fragrance 'Amazing Grace'. This shower gel has a milk based formula and is enriched with milk proteins which claim to moisturise and condition your skin.
In true Philosophy style, this shower gel is presented in a simple, clear plastic bottle which is of a chunky nature. A 'poem' is written on the front and the back of the bottle offers the essential product information. The bottle is complete with a flip top cap.
~Price and Availability~
A 480ml bottle is available from www.philosophyskincare.co.uk priced at £19.00. A smaller bottle can be bought as part of various gift sets.
~My Thoughts~
I am a big fan of Philosophy products. I received a gift set containing lots of miniatures earlier this year. Whilst Amazing Grace wouldn't have been my first choice of Philosophy shower gel (they do Vanilla, Cinnamon etc), it is one that I have enjoyed using. It is expensive and not an everyday sort of shower gel in my opinion but I like shower treats for my evening showers and this fits my requirements.
This shower gel is lovely to use. The consistency is fantastic due to the milk proteins - quite thick and beautifully soft and creamy. The shower gel has a pale pink tint to it which enhances the girly appearance of the overall product. I use a body puff to get the most from my shower gels and only need the tiniest of drops of this pearly pink gel to fully cleanse my skin.
This shower gel lathers up beautifully and a soft and creamy lather is formed with very little effort on my part - quite luxurious. The lather feels gentle yet cleansing and despite being perfumed, I have experienced no irritation from this product. The scent of this shower gel is pleasant and not overpowering. Amazing Grace has a light, fresh and floral scent and this is upheld in the shower gel. The overall scent reminds me of a sweet rose and is quite clean and fresh smelling.
The lather rinses effortlessly from my skin and leaves no residue. Once dried off, my skin feels clean, refreshed and quite soft to the touch. I would say this shower gel does moisturise more than cheaper alternatives and I do not feel the need to slather on a lot of body butter after my shower. A sweet floral scent lingers on my skin for a short while after I dry off and I could imagine the matching products in this collection would enhance and prolong the Amazing Grace scent even further.
I mainly use this product as a shower gel but have used it as a bath gel and find it produces some gorgeous bubbles which last well. I do not favour using shower gels on my hair as my hair is thick and dry but this shower gel did perform well at cleansing my hair and scalp. My hair didn't feel as dried out but I still needed a conditioner so feel this shower gel is wasted on my hair!
~Conclusion~
I do like this shower gel but I wouldn't buy a full size bottle as the Amazing Grace floral scent is not my favourite from this brand. A little bit of this shower gel goes a long way and one bottle is long lasting. This would make a lovely gift and is lovely to use so I can recommend it to all.
Thanks for reading :)
Summary: nice but pricey
