“ Brand: Radox / Type: Shower Cream / What it does: Smoothes, „
Today I'd like to review this amazing shower peeling that I bought multiple times already because I loved it so much!
My reason for buying the Shower Smoothie was mainly the packaging! The bottle just looked so nice because you can see right through it! That already caught my attention and the content looked more than scrumptious!
I also found the descriptions of the Shower Smoothie on the bottle quite appealing and quickly knew that this would be the right product for me.
Everything about the packaging appealed to me.
The Shower Smoothie, as this shower peeling is called, is inside a bottle of 17,5cm that stands on its head. It is see-through and my bottle also has an extra sticker on the top claiming that in a survey with 12026 participants, the shower smoothies won in the "body wash" catergory.
The front of the bottle shows something resembling a drip of honey with a Radox logo which then again resembles a green leaf standing before it. Below that, there's green writing saying "shower smoothies - Natural Balance".
In a little text this specific edition of the smoothie is described further. The body wash is supposed to me made of luxurious joghurt and hones, combined with soft pieces of almond. The text claims that the Shower Smoothie is thick and creamy, made to pamper you and smell "yummy".
"Your skin will thank you" they say in the end and there is also some brown writing warning you to not drink the Shower Smoothie.
There is another little logo on the bottle as well, claiming that the Shower Smoothies contain healthy herbe and minerals.
Of course, the ingredients, a barcode, the manufacturer's address and a recycling symbol can be soon on the back of the bottle as well.
My experiences with it
The "Natural Balance" Shower Smoothie smells like heaven!! I can not bring up any criticism on it. You will love the indulgent yet airy scent of vanilla, almond and a bit of honey. When I shower with this little treasure, my eyes roll back in pleasure as I use it!
The scent makes me think of a wonderful creamy Vanilla-Milkshake combined with really fine ingredients. Perfect!
How does it feel - and does it peel?
It's really important that a shower gel or peeling wash feels good on your skin! That absolutely is the case. The little pieces of almond are perfect for a very gentle peeling so I would even recommend it to people with very sensitive skin - you will get along with this just fine!
The gel is easy to spread, creates a satisfying amount of foam and really cleans your skin without stressing it out.
My skin always feels soft and not dry after I used this. I am absolutely satisfied with that too!
I had no trouble with this regarding my skin's reaction to it, but of course sensitive people and people with allergies should check the ingredients before buying!
How long does it last?
The Shower Smoothie won't last you forever like Body Shop shower gels, but it is endurable enough and will serve you for about 10 to 12 showers. Maybe you can get more out of it if you don't take as much as I did. ;)
Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Triethanolamine, Parfum Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Meal, Hyssopus OfficinalisnExtract, Mel, Glycol Distearate, Sodium Chloride, Laureth-4, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Sodium Hydroxide, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Tetrasodium EDTA, Yogurt, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, BHT, Sodium Benzoate, Methylisothiazolinone, CI 191140, CI 16255.
You can buy the Shower Smoothies at Boots and Superdrug. I do believe pretty much every drugstore sells them but these two always carry them.
They are quite pricey at £2.49 vor 200ml, but then again they are special and I haven't had anything like it before. Plus they are often on offer, so watch out!
I love the Shower Smoothies by Radox. All of the varieties available are great, but"Natural Balance" really is the best of them. The scent is amazing and I willdefenitely buy it again and again!
I totally recommend it!
After trying (many moons ago) a shower smoothie and not being too impressed by it, I decided to give them another go, well this and the fact I had run out of shower gel and these were on offer at my local chemists!
I will now review - "Radox - shower smoothies, natural balance".
These particular products come within a stand upside down bottle, meaning the every last drop is extracted from the bottle as it is constantly dripping into the base/applicator end.
There is all the relevant information on the bottle, with the tube itself being translucent and showing the gel in all it's glory, I have to say it looks quite impressive so far!
The blurb states that this is a yoghurt and honey smoothie, with hyssop and soft almond pieces, which when this is opened smells very distinctively and strongly of a creamy honey concoction!
To use you squeeze a small amount onto damp skin, I normally advocate using a shower puff, but find the pieces of almond in the gel gets stuck in my puff, and it loses the point of having some type of exfoliating product (however pointless it maybe!) in there.
The gel is extremely thick, so a little really does go a long way. When rubbed onto the skin is feels silky in consistency, even with the almond pieces, this makes me wonder what the point is of putting them in, though they do look quite impressive within the tube.
The gel (once rinsed from the skin) leaves you feeling clean and refreshed, with the skin actually feeling nice and smooth, and surprisingly soft too, though I do always put some cream on my skin after showering/bathing.
The smell is very much like vanilla crème brulee after showering, and lingers on the skin for quite some time afterwards.
I really like this shower gel, and was pleased to get it for 99p, though I have only got to use it once as my daughter has nicked it, which again is testament to how gentle this product is as she suffers with eczema, and this has yet to cause any irritation to her skin.
These are available from most supermarkets, for more information visit - www.radox.co.uk.
Thanks for reading x
I'd seen Radix Shower Smoothies around for a year or two and heard quite a bit about them, pretty much all positive. I happened to see these in Superdrug on a 2 for £2 offer. I was quite taken aback as these normally sell for about £2.50 so to get two of these for less than the price of one was odd though great as I had been wanting to try them for a while.
I picked up two bottles. One was the Natural Balance. On the front was something that caught my eye - a Product of the Year Award for Skin Food, apparently it won in the body wash category in 2009.
It looks very appealing. It comes in a see though squeeze bottle with a flip cap at the bottom, a good thing as the product looked quite thick so it helps if it can drain naturally. On the front was a picture of a swirl of honey and the green Radox logo. I really like their handwashes so thought this would be good. The product inside was creamy yellow colour with dark brown bits. It contained yoghurt, honey, hyssop and almond.
It sounded great and it smelt it too, just so like what real honey is a jar smells like, thick and luscious. On the front, it says, 'please do not drink' and I can understand that they might worry that someone might want to try a little but hopefully no-one is that silly.
When I squeezed it out, I found it surprisingly thin, I expected it to be thick but it was quite runny, I suppose that is more in a line with a smoothie. It lathered very well and as I rubbed, the honey smell really came to life and it felt creamy on the skin due to the yoghurt I guess.
However, I was a bit disappointed with the scrubbing part. There were tiny brown particles, the almond meal, which is supposed to get rid of dry skin. I didn't notice it at all, maybe because the bits were too small, I was expecting more of a scrub effect but this wasn't it. Perhaps it is hard to make a good hybrid product but I think I would be happy to have this just as a body wash and something else as my body scrub.
Not quite as I'd expected, but if it was on offer, I'd certainly get it again but not at full price.
My sister introduced me to this wonderful product and I've been hooked on it ever since! The reason why I love this bath smoothie is firstly because of the originality and fantastic smell of it. This smoothie was an award-winning skin food, and apparently, from what I read, there were some great results following a survey consisting of 12 026 people who used this. No wonder has Radox smoothie been acclaimed as product of the year 2009! It is very rare that I gush over a beauty product in that way since I am usually one who looks for each and every single flawed element before trying it out, but this one has really passed my test with honors!
On opening the tube, I was very pleasantly surprised by a delightful smell. It truly was the mixture of yogurt and honey that it claimed to be, but the smell of honey and almond was more overpowering than the yogurt. Which is a good thing for me since I much prefer honey to yogurt! The tube claims this is a natural, thick creamy, indulgent and yummy product, and is followed by a note of warning: PLEASE DO NOT EAT. This is just as well- believe me when I say that this smoothie really does smell good enough to eat. Trust me: I couldn't resist the wonderful smell and touched a tiny dollop to my tongue and I can assure you that the taste is nothing at all like the smell!! It was quite disgusting in fact!
I would say that it was the smell that really got me addicted to using this at least four times a week. What I love more is that the smell lingers, I used mine last night and in the morning, I still had faint whiffs of honey all over my body. I would however recommend you to use this under hot water, rather than cold, because I have noticed that since hot water opens up your pores, the product is able to penetrate deeper into the skin, hence a better cleansing, and the wonderful smell will also linger. Of course, spray your body with cold water afterwards to close the pores and trap the honey-almond smell inside.
I have been trying this same routine with various other shower gels/exfoliants throughout the years but nothing worked as awesomely as this one did. In fact, yet another thing that I love about this smoothie is the originality of the exfoliants: instead of the usual beads that you get in most products, Radox offers almond chunks to scrub the dry and dead cells off the skin. I have to say, this genuinely impressed me and it certainly does look like a beauty product tried to be more in touch with nature for once! The almond chunks were not huge and hard in a way to damage your skin, rather, they were soft and quite small. The product also claims to use hyssop along with the almond bits to smooth the skin, but frankly, all I got in my bottle were the almond pieces!
The smoothie itself is of an extremely creamy consistency, which might easily lead one to go a bit overboard with the quantity required. I love it so much that I just keep pumping huge dollops during my shower routines. I have to say that it is an extremely luxurious feeling to ather yourself with such a creamy product with a divine smell! It really did moisturize my skin- I have normal to dry skin that tends to get a bit dry during cold weather. But when used under hot water, this product genuinely made my skin extremely soft and smooth, after just two applications (twice in the same week).
As main ingredients, Radox very boldly claims to use "A dollop of yoghurt, a spoonful of honey, a bunch of hyssop flowers, soft almond meal bits, a thumbs up from the skin experts, 100 years of Radox know-how". That's the good part. The bad part is written in teeny tiny lettering at the back of the tube. Some of these not-so-good ingredients are: glycerin, hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, tetra sodium EDTA, Prunus Amydalus Dulcis Meal...among many others. Thankfully, no alcohol though, so it can be deemed suitable to sensitive skin. The reason why I listed a couple of these ingredients that sounded like Harry Potter characters is just to show that while this is truly among the best beauty products that I have ever used, it is not at all a natural product. It does contain honey, flowers, almond and yoghurt, but it is also packed with chemicals.
Chemicals or not, however, I cannot deny the wonderful smoothing and soothing effect this has had on my skin after just a short time of using it. I will give this product a well-deserved five stars; and this is overall certainly one to recommend!
Available at Superdrug for £1.44
Thanks for reading!
These Radox shower smoothies are available from supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug and cost between 2 to 3 pounds each but I got mine for £1.60 as there was an offer on... I think they took a third off the price.
I've seen these in 5 different varieties and the one that I liked the most was this one as it smelt nice and sweet when I smelt them all quickly in store. I love the sweet honey scent this one has, it's like a dessert so couldn't wait to try this on my skin.
This smoothie is a creamy yellow colour and there's honey, yoghurt and tiny soft almond bits in there. I did notice these almond bits when I poured some of the shower smoothie on my hand but they're so sparse and few that it doesn't feel scratchy or anything, I think they're hardly noticeable so doubt they're there for exfoliating purposes... not too sure what they're there for but they don't bother me so that's ok.
This shower smoothie feels unlike any shower or bath gel/ soap/ foam I've ever used before. This one in particular is very rich, creamy and almost sticky feeling (but not in a horrible way) when it's concentrated and not rubbed in yet. I think this one is more suitable for people with dryer skins like myself as my boyfriend who has oily skin isn't too fond of this one (more for me LOL). It smoothes onto the skin beautifully, it feels so rich, nourishing and moisturising and the smell is just divine! It lathers up nicely and makes you feel clean yet nourisehed and hydrated, so I don't feel the need to cover myself in loads of moisturiser (if any at all) afterwards.
As this product is quite thick and creamy, I find that you don't need loads to achieve the clean, moisturised feeling you're looking to get from this. (Sometimes I feel like I need multiple uses or just more product from other shower gels as one layer or a little amount doesn't seem to cleanse my skin properly.)
The scent of this lingers on my skin for ages, my skin is left feeling soft, smooth and moisturised. This smoothie is even better than what I'd expected and I will definitely be repurchasing this. I just love the sweet scent this has, it's so comforting and goes beautifully with my favourite vanilla based perfume.
What a great product...and one almost good to eat!
I discovered this little gem when I was at the supermarket. It was on special offer and as I have been a fan of Radox products for some time I thought that I would give it a go. Radox have been producing quality bathroom products for a number of years and they are continually refreshing their variety of products available, whilst retaining a high quality brand name.
I chose the 'Energise' variety which conatins a blend of ginseng, guarana, lemongrass and mint.
I purchased it in a 200ml container that was made of plastic. It looks pretty durable but I have some doubts as to if it will be sturdy enough to go into my gym bag. The flip top lid does not look particularly strong and I think that it would break easily. This is one to be left in the shower at home for sure.
The liquid is soap free and has a very clean and fresh initial scent. I think that it is distinctively a Radox product, by this I mean that it has a familiar scent initially when opening the container that many, if not all of the Radox products have. It is a clean and refreshing scent that does energise the senses and gives an uplifting feeling...particularly early in the morning!
I enjoyed using this body wash. I used quite a lot of it initially and enjoyed the bubbles and the rich lather that it produced. There are small grains in the wash which exfoliate the skin and it easily washed off of my skin. The bubbles were not so much as to make it difficult to clean my skin, but were really well balanced with the scent.
The pleasant scent lasted for a longer period than my usual brand of shower gel and my skin felt soft and clean...which is obviously the result I wanted! I used it all over my body and also on my face, it was mild enough to do this, but would be worth checking if you have sensitive skin about using it on your facial skin.
There is a large range of Radox products and this addition is a really welcome one. It is a good quality product and one well worth trying, I think this would be ideal for a large family to use as a little does go a long way. I have found after a number of years that cheaper shower gels do not last as long as a quality product and this new edition to their range is really excellent and well worth a scrub down!
I bought this along with a couple of the other varieties of shower smoothie when I spotted them on a half price offer in Morrisons, putting them at just £1.12 each.
The shower smoothie comes in a clear plastic tube so that you can easily see how much you have left at all times. It stands on it's lid so the product is always ready for use and you don't have to spend ages squeezing it out of the tube before you can use it. The lid has a flip top, but it doesn't fasten very tightly and can easily come open so it's not really ideal for taking travelling or keeping in a wash bag.
The smoothie itself has a fairly thin consistency, which surprised me as from the name I had expected something quite thick. It's texture is smooth and creamy, and it feels lovely on the skin. It has soft almond bits in it, but you can't feel these when you use it, not like with an exfoliator.
The scent is hard for me to explain, it smells exactly like some kind of food that I just can't put my finger on, but it really does smell edible. It contains yoghurt, honey and almond, so you'd think that would be what it smells of, but it's not. It's a sweet, creamy scent that reminds me a little of cocoa butter, but it's much nicer than that!
You don't need to use a lot of this as it lathers up really nicely, and the lather it creates is thick, soft and luxurious, making it a pleasure to use. It feels really creamy and moisturising as I wash with it, as well as making me feel really clean.
After using it my skin feels softer than it ever has done, I'm really impressed. It's clean, soft, smooth, and all signs of dry skin have vanished, but the best part is that my skin still feels amazingly soft by the end of the day, which for me is amazing! My skin is healthy looking and so soft and smooth I can hardly believe it. I'll definitely be buying this one again!
When it comes to Radox as a brand I find it really hard to not sound snobby when I write about it! I don't mean to but I really do enjoy buying and using stuff like Ted Baker and Fcuk etc as I value luxury products even in the shower and don't mind paying a bit extra for really nice stuff. I appreciate my showers as much as I do long lazy soaks so I look for a lovely long lasting fragrance and soft skin etc.
The smoothie comes in a 200ml flip top, bottom opening tube. On the front in dark green and orange writing I'm told it's Radox Shower Smoothies 'Natural Balance' which is a 'Luxurious yogurt and honey shower smoothie with hyssop and soft almond bits. Smell me, I'm special. Thick, creamy, indulgent and yummy. Your skin will thank you'. At the bottom of the tube I'm told not to eat it and that it is a blend of natural herbs and minerals. On the back of the tube I'm once again told what it is, I'm told a bit about the product, ingredients are listed, contact details for Sara lee are given (the manufacturers of Radox products), the recycle and size of the tube are stated and finally there is a bar-code on there. It's a nice, easy to use tube of product which is well balanced to stick on a shelf in your bathroom if you want to. I like the fact I can see the creamy pale yellow liquid with orangy 'bits' in it so that I know when the tube needs replacing as well.
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Tube....
Treat yourself to something a bit special, you deserve it. This new shower smoothie feels as wonderful on your skin as it smells. It's a luxurious blend of natural ingredients for your body - like yogurt and honey, hyssop and soft almond - to help care for the skin.
Whats Gone Into It....
A dollop or yogurt - a spoonful of honey, a bunch of hyssop flowers, soft almond meal bits, a thumbs-up from the skin experts, 100 years of Radox know-how.
Well of course I use this in the shower with my long trusted scrunchy! You need a bit less than the size of a 10p piece coin to wash the entire body with. The smoothie runs out of the tube really easily, you don't even have to squeeze it if you don't want to and although then you think it's a very thin liquid when I look at it on the scrunchy it appears thick and creamy, a very light yellow colour with plenty of scattered orange coloured almond flakes in it.
Smell wise well what can I say? Think Lush shop! This would fit in well! It's amazing on the smell front and is the sole reason I bought it after sniffing it. It smells amazingly girly, and strong and I am massive fan of this fragrance and can totally understand why on the packaging we are told more than once to not eat it! It's that yummy smelling lol.
The smell to me is very much a vanilla yogurt smell drizzled in honey although nowhere does it say it's meant to smell like vanilla lol. It's sweet and feminine and very creamy indeed. I can't tell you how tempted I am to lick this or the stuff off myself after or when using it! Better still not only does it smell in use but it gently fragrances the skin all day long as well!
It lathers up quickly and richly into a thick white lather that feels so velvety smooth even though it contains 'bits'. Those bits I don't think actually do a thing because they are more flakes than they are exfoliating beads but whatever happens with these flakes when I have washed (and shaved my bits and bobs if I chose to) my skin is left feeling wonderfully hydrated, soft and supple in a none greasy way. Dry skin is banished and skin is left amazingly fragranced, fresh and natural feeling in a totally luxurious way I can't describe to you properly lol!
The orange bits are rinsed down the plug hole as is the lather and the bath or shower tray isn't sticky or slimy after use. Not only do you feel very clean and have a mysterious creamy smell to your body you look invigorated and the bathroom smells divine.
As I said at the top of this review I have never loved Radox but this really is something very special to me and I'm so glad I found it. So much do I like it that I use my tube on 'Special occasions lol. Not because I find it expensive to purchase but because I like it as an indulgent treat and when my skin feels a little on the dry, stressed out side. It really is a smoothing treatment!
At about £2.49 a tube yes you can get cheaper shower products but to me this is luxury on the cheap and it works out really economical as you don't need a lot per shower at all. Readily available in Supermarkets and Chemists and totally recommended from me. I bought my tube in Wilkinson's.
