I went through a phase last year of subscribing to a lot of beauty boxes and I am gradually working my way through my stash of products. One item I got was a small bottle of this Rituals Zensation Organic Rice Milk and Cherry Blossom “foaming shower gel sensation”. A full-size 200ml bottle of this stuff costs 8.50 in QVC, feelunique.com and other places that sell it (there are several online) so I was very happy to receive this as a sample.
Actually, ‘bottle’ isn’t really the best name for it. The product comes in a pressurised can, and you squeeze it out just as you would a shaving gel. This packaging is pretty innovative, as far as I know, where shower gel is concerned.
The packaging is simple but attractive, with a white background and a minimalist grean leaf design. To use the product, just squeeze some out onto your hand or sponge, and wash as usual. I tend to use my shower puff, as it means I get a good lather from my shower gels without using too much.
The product came out easily and lathered up with no problems. It didn’t lather straight away like a shaving gel, does, though – I had to add a little water before it would do so. Just like a normal shower gel, really. In some ways the packaging was a little unnecessary, as the product could have just as easily been put into a bottle. However, the pressurised container does heavily reduce the chance of leaks, so it would be ideal for travel purposes (not on a plane though I’d imagine!).
The shower gel had an amazing smell, fresh and floral, that I loved. It was really strong and made my showering a genuinely enjoyable experience. The scent lasted a little afterwards, too. The product didn’t dry out my skin, but it didn’t actively moisturise it afterwards, and I did have to use moisturiser.
Overall, this is a really lovely shower product from a brand I hadn’t previously tried. It’s pricey though, so I’d only buy it again if there was a really good offer on.
This is the second of the Rituals shower gels that I am reviewing that I have used for the past few years. I love using different products in the shower and particularly like to use foaming shower gels as I find that these are easier to use and create more lather than a normal shower gel. I was therefore really pleased to find these high end foaming shower gels in a range of different scents that are produced by Rituals.
Rituals was founded in 2000 and was the first brand in the world to pioneer a combination of luxury home and body cosmetics. All of the Rituals products use natural and organic ingredients and there are no harsh chemicals to damage your skin.
The shower gel comes in a pretty white container with pictures of green foliage on it which is pressurised and has a plastic lid on the top. When you take the top off the pump is displayed and it is easy to press down to make the shower gel come out. The gel uses unique shower foam technology which transforms into a rich foam on contact with water. You can see it changing in your hand and it seems to grow as well as become a foam which means that you only need to use a small amount at a time.
The shower gel includes the ingredients organic rice oil and cherry blossom. The scent is quite soothing and slightly mellow - a bit like warm milk infused with a soft fruit scent that makes it feel soft and gentle. The scent is not as strong as some of the other Rituals shower gels and this makes it a good shower product to use in the evening before bed.
I really like this shower gel and I would recommend it. You can currently buy it from House of Fraser for between £5 - £8 depending on whether it is on sale or not and it is definitely worth it
I first found out about Rituals when wandering through House of Fraser in Birmingham (UK). I saw that there was a new concession on the beauty floor, and went to go check it out. To my surprise it was a totally organic natural beauty company that makes products to die for. The first item I bought from Rituals was this shower foam, which I was able to try out in-store. The sales assistants were very knowledgeable and helpful.
The foam is in a gel form in a pressurized container. To use it you simply press the button on the top of the bottle and the gel dispenses onto your hand and slowly turns into a soft creamy luxurious foam when in contact with water. Because the container is pressurized you have to be careful not to push the button too hard or else a lot of the product will come out at a high speed!
The shower foam smells wonderfully of rice milk and cherry blossom, and you don't have to worry about any unnatural chemicals damaging your body as Rituals is all made from natural organic ingredients.
It is a little bit pricey compared to normal shower gels that retail at around £2-£3, but I would definitely say it is worth it at £7.00
A lovely shower gel, that leaves skin feeling super soft and smelling great! Definitely recommend trying the other products too!
I'd never heard of Rituals until I got this Rituals Organic Rice Milk and Cherry Blossom Foaming Shower Gel as a gift from a friend. It costs £6.50 for a 200ml can and you can buy it in some department stores or online.
It comes in a very nice and quite expensive looking can with a pull off lid. It has a dispenser on the top like on a can of shaving gel that dispenses the gel with quite some force when you press on it and it comes out very quickly meaning I often find I get more than I need.
The gel is clear and has quite a thick texture, but when you begin to use it it creates a really thick foam which is lovely and soft and fluffy. It feels great massaging it into my skin and it has a nice sweet floral scent to it. I usually use a shower puff but with this I prefer to just massage it in with my hands as I find it works better this way and feels nicer.
It rinses off my skin easily without leaving a residue or greasy feeling, and my skin is left feeling clean and soft. I was surprised at how long my skin stayed feeling soft for after using this, with most other shower gels my skin seems to feel normal again with a few minutes to an hour, but with this my skin is touch-ably soft and smooth all day.
I do think I use more of this than normal shower gels, mainly due to it coming out of the can so fast, so it is quite expensive for how many uses you will get out of it compared to the average shower gel, but I do really like it so I think it's worth it as a little treat.
