A luxurious honey based body care product from Marks and Spencer.

Marks and Spencer produce the Royal Jelly and Pure Honey Range which includes this Body Scrub in addition to a range of other complimentary products such as Cream Bath, Body Cream and Body Wash. I was recently given a few products in the range as a Christmas present. It was a lovely gift to recieve as everything looks and sounds so luxurious and chic!

The packaging of the brand is based on a gold and ochre design, with many of the tubes and tubs having sparkly gold lids. The Body Scrub comes in a fawn-gold 200ml sized tube. It stands upright on it's dispensing end for easy use and storage. The flip style lid is simple to open and also locks tightly shut. There is a small nozzle in the end.

The product information on the tube tells me that this is a "sugar body scrub". It also tells me that the ingredients in the range are royal jelly, a good natural source of vitamin B and honey. This scrub is "enriched with natural sugar" to exfoliate dead skin cells and leave new skin feeling smooth and moisturised. The liquid should not be used on sensitive parts of the body or the face.

The appearance of the scrub is like a thin clear honey which is mixed with tiny brown seeds, like chopped up kiwi seeds. I am not actually sure what they are - they might be little chunks of grit or sugary lumps. The texture of the liquid is more gelatinous and less runny than honey. It tends to lie in rounded globules in the palm of my hand. It is quite sticky and thick but easy to apply to the skin and rub on. It feels very nice on the skin - the little seed lumps feel hard and scratchy and it is similar to the feeling of sand on your skin when you are at the beach. It has the desired exfoliation effect of scrubbing away old dull skin. With continued rubbing the gel tends to go into a semi-lather and turn white. It does not bubble but is rather more like shaving foam consistency. I feel refreshed after rinsing the scrub away. The hard bits in the gel tend to gather in the bottom of the shower/bath and need to be rinsed away afterwards.

I thought the aroma might be quite powerful but it is actually very mild. It is like the smell of nectar or a particularly flowery honey. I sometimes get 'Heather Honey' to eat and this fragrance is similar. It is a natural aroma and makes me feel clean and cool whilst not being overpowered.

After drying my skin I do feel that it is a lot softer than prior to using the product. I also use the complimentary moisturising Body Cream afterwards and this softens my skin even more.

It does feel like a luxurious treat to use this gorgeous range from Marks and Spencer. I read recently that we should all be using honey products in an effort to get the government to realise that the recent reduction in the population of honey bees needs to be addressed and quickly. A great product to use alone or with the sister products in the range and I couldn't have asked for a nicer gift!
