Advantages: Fab fragrance; lovely colour; ethically sound product

Disadvantages: Limited edition

I've been a fan of the handmade soaps from online retailer Soape for some months now and have steadily been working my way through the different varieties the company makes. Unfortunately the company no longer offer the free samples they did previously, you now have to pay 50 Pence for each one, so if you commented on my earlier reviews that you wanted to try the soaps, you will now have to fork out. That's the bad news. The good news is that there's currently a sale on the full size soaps AND there are two limited edition soaps to try. I've been so impressed by what I've tried so far that I snapped up one of each immediately.

The Ruby Red Grapefruit glycerine soap - 'Grapefruit Punch' - is the first one I've tried. I still have the other - 'Oriental Lotus' cream soap to look forward to. Although the soap came wrapped in cellophane in a box with the oriental lotus soap and another product, its zingy fragrance was instantly noticeable when I opened my parcel. The cellophane packaging is great because it shows off the fabulous colour of the soap. I was tempted to use it immediately but managed to hold back and used it for a morning shower.
For this product Soape use the same base they do for their other glycerine soaps. The company doesn't use artificial ingredients and describe its glycerine soaps as being suitable for all skin types. Soape doesn't use products that have been tested on animals and say their products are vegetarian friendly. That's the ethical stuff out of the way.

If this soap has a distinctive fragrance before use, it only intensifies with use. This is a brilliant wake up product to use in the shower, a really vibrant way to start the day. The fragrance is really fresh and citrusy and very long-lasting. When I emerged from the shower my partner could smell the fragrance my across the room and when he followed into the bathroom for his shower the room was full of the smell of zesty grapefruit. That was at seven in the morning. At six in the evening when we got home from work, the bathroom still smelled of grapefruit.

Although the colour is really intense there is no bleeding of colour as there has been with one or two of the stronger coloured soaps I've bought from Soape. Although the colour suits the fragrance, it reminds me more of watermelon than ruby grapefruit. However, little 'chippings' of a slightly lighter colour at one side of my block reminded me of the shredded flesh of a grapefruit.

Like the other glycerine soaps this one leaves my skin feeling soft and doesn't dry the skin like some soaps do. It lathers nicely but not excessively and makes me feel really clean and refreshed.
I'm not sure how long Soape will be selling this particular variety but I like it a great deal and will stock up in case the edition is discontinued. I do hope that Soape will consider adding this permanently.

It's currently selling for £2.50 for 100gram block. Be sure to purchase by first going through topcashback.co.uk which offers a brilliant 20 per cent cash-back on all purchases at www. soape.com
