“ Brand: Sanctuary Spa / Type: Body Wash/Cleanser / What it does: Cleanses, „
We went on a holiday about a year ago, (luxury self catering it was) and it was a five star affair, to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my wife getting the all clear. We'd had a bit of a bad time and needed something to help to take our minds off things and cheer us both up. The accommodation was out of this world and the proprietor had left us fantastic little 'welcome packs' of various exotic foods and toileteries etc that we woudln't normally buy ourselves at home.
There was a hot tub, a power shower and a massive jaccuzzi tub in the triple sized luxury bathroom and they had left us some Sanctuary products that my other half was really eager to try out. The one they had left was a pack of three Sanctuary products in a little flowered orange and peach coloured plastic travel pouch called Sanctuary Spa Travel Trio and it was on the side of the bath when we arrived. We have seen the Sanctuary range in our Sainsbury's store when we go shopping and sometimes it is on special offer but we don't ever buy it, though I have bought my wife a small pack for a birthday once before and she loved it. I have no idea how much the Sanctuary Spa Travel Trio pack costs because as I say, it was part of our welcome gifts at our accommodation.
When we opened it, inside there were three things. There was a 50ml Body Scrub, a Foaming Bath Soak (50ml) and the same sized Body Scrub. I am very much a shower man but seeing as we'd paid a high price for our luxury week away and we had the use of the bath, hot tub and jaccuzzi, I was sure as hell going to make the most of it.
First we used the Foaming Bath Soak (together) !!! It was really foaming as we poured the hot water onto it and as the bath was filling up and we went to pour our Cava in the kitchen in our robes, we could smell the lovely smell of the Sanctuary Foaming Bath coming through the cottage - it was really quite strong but a nice smell and not too feminine, either. It made the water go a bit peachy coloured. We both got into the bath with our drinks and put them on the side with our crisps and fried onion rings and we soon felt how luxurious and smooth and creamy the bath foam was. It made our skins feel lovely and soft and smooth and got us both in the mood for a romantic night.
The next night we used the Body Scrub - seperately this time, though the shower was big enough for two if we'd wanted to. I wasn't so keen on this as I hadn't used a body scrub before and I found it a bit queer how all the little bits of stony things scratched my skin, but I'm told that's what it's meant to be like. I liked the smell but not the sensation and found grit between my toes after my shower!
After the shower we both used the body lotion. There was enough for two of us for about three nights on the trot. Again the smell was nice and it was rich and very moisturising but as a bloke, moisturising my skin isn't something I'm used to and it felt a bit alien and sticky to me. But my other half smelled delicious and I helped her to rub it in. Another successful night that was!
All in all a great little pack of products and something which I think would make a perfect little present for a woman. Very much recommended by the both of us.
As a Boots advantage card holder I love to stack up my points with all the nappies I buy and then like to treat myself once in a while. The Sanctuary is a range of bath and body products exclusive to Boots and also found in The Sanctuary spa. The Sanctuary Spa was created in Covent Garden over 30 years ago. Their philosophy is all about providing the time, space and expertise for women to renew that glow. I've never been to the Spa but friends have been and they do say that it is a wonderful experience and definitely a very upmarket product. I have used a number of their products over the years and actually received this travel set as a gift at a baby shower recently for my growing bump.
The Sanctuary beauty products were produced in 1998. Customers had been wanting to take the spa experience home with them without needing a therapist or special equipment so they came up with the idea of selling their products. The packaging of all the Sanctuary products is very distinctive orange colour. I think this gives the products quite an upmarket and classy look and makes you think to begin with that they are a very good product. This set is no different and features three Sanctuary Spa favourites. It comes in a nice little orange and white wipe clean bag which is perfect for using again for other toiletry products when you go away in the future after you have used the products inside.
Now onto the products. There is a bottle of The Sanctuary Body Lotion. This is described as a "wonderfully fragrant, super-absorbent lotion which nourishes and stimulates the body, smoothing away dryness and revitalising tired skin. I found this lotion to be really beneficial and left my skin really moisturised after I had used it. The lotion contains jojoba oil which is a naturally occurring substance which is said to be a great moisturiser. The lotion also contains Pro-Vitamin B5 which gives skin a super smooth finish. The cream itself is quite silky and does go on the skin extremely well. It does not leave your skin feeling greasy after application which is nice. The smell is an interesting one and I think its one of those smells that you either love or hate. It has quite a spa lotion smell to it. By these I mean it smells quite like a lotion in a massage that you would expect to get in a spa and not a fruity or flowery smell. It has quite a spice smell to it and is a rich, fragrant smell and if you like that sort of thing then I think you will definitely like this. The Body Lotion contains Ginger root extract which I think gives it its distinctive smell. The body lotion comes in a 75ml bottle.
The Body Lotion comes in a white bottle with an orange lid on the top. The next product is The Sanctuary Foaming bath soak. This has exactly the same smell as the body lotion so its nice to be able to layer your fragrance but first using the bath soak and then finishing off with the body lotion. The body soak allows you to, "Immerse yourself in decadently creamy cleansing bubbles with moisturising wheat proteins and fragrant essential oils." It also includes soothing aloe vera which I like a lot as it always seems to smooth my skin out. The liquid is quite thick and creamy in the bottle and when you pour it into the bath it really lathers up well. The bubbles do last for quite a long time in the bath too which is nice. I do feel like the water is then quite nourishing and I like to rub the bubbles on my skin because it really feels like they are moisturising it. The bath soak comes in a 75ml bottle.
The last item in the bag is the body scrub so this little pack really contains everything you need for a luxurious bath and body experience. Again the scrub is the same smell as the other two products. The Body Scrub is intended to rejuvenate, refine and smooth skin. It has little natural pumice beads in it which in my opinion gently rub away the dead skin and leave you feeling nice and smooth. This product has definitely worked for me. I find my arms are a lot smoother after use and I also find as soon as I get out of the shower after use my skin in rather invigorated and awakened, just like it says it would on the bottle. The body scrub comes in a 50ml tube.
Like I said I received this particular bag as a gift but it is available for purchase in Boots costing £7.66.
