I have a real thing for Scottish Fine Soaps. I find their products to be really high quality and reasonably priced, well reasonable compared to companies like Molton Brown and L’occitane who I also love but think they charge to much. I also like the fact that they are a bit different to all the others too in the kind of fragrances they put into their products.
Their soaps are gorgeous and when I was in a shop selling these tins of soap I browsed through them and thought they would make lovely little stocking filler gifts for people but they were too nice to just give away so I ended up buying myself some too.
One of my favourites was the Heather one just because I have never had anything heather scented before and it is a lovely fragrance.
I was almost reluctant to use the soap just because the tin it comes in is so pretty. It is heather coloured and really nice and makes the soap look even better. It cost £4.95 which is pretty expensive for a little bar of soap but I was happy to pay it because it looked and smelled so good.
Even before you use the soap you can actually smell it quite strongly as soon as you open the tin. This is an indication of the quality and it doesn’t smell like any old soap I think it smells luxurious and gorgeous.
Normally I only use soap on my hands but after using this on my hands and them not feeling dry or tight at all I decided to give it a go on my body and I have to say that Scottish Fine Soaps are the only soap brand that I would use regularly on my body skin as the soaps aren’t drying at all. In fact it felt as though it was actually moisturising my skin as well as cleaning it effectively. The smell was even stronger as soon as it hit water and it gave the most beautiful lather. I really loved the heather smell as it was different to what I normally use but gorgeous.
The soap also lasts for ages and ages and doesn’t melt to a mush when it has become wet like cheaper brands of soap. For me this is a gorgeus soap that I loved using and would definitely buy again if not for the fact that there are so many other lovely soaps from the company to choose from that I find it difficult to decide which one to get.
On day two of the 10 days of christmas Dooyoo competition, I was one of the winners . One of the little surprises I recieved in the mail was this cute little tin, containing a 100g block of heather scented soap .
I'm not really much a soap user to be honest - I don't have any real dislike of the stuff, but with a mum that works for a large manufacturer of cosmetics and toiletries, I have a bathroom stuffed full of lotions and potions, and the traditional bar soap has long since fallen by the wayside in favour of fancy shower gels, body scrubs, and all manner of other gubbins .
Still, I was pretty impressed with this little gift. The tin it is presented in is smart and stylish, and would not look out of place in even the smartest of bathrooms . In addition, it makes the soap handily portable for travelling should you need to, and helps to stop the soap itself from drying out. The tin itself is easy enough to open, yet secure enough that it wouldn't just pop open if you didn't want it to.
Opening the tin, the soap is then wrapped in thin monogrammed paper, which I promptly placed in my underwear drawer, as it had a lovely fragrance which would help freshen things up.Thesquare soap, with curved and rounded edges, is a lovely bright lilac colour, and has writing embossed on the top surface, informing us that this is a 100g bar of finest triple milled soap, made in Scotland. Now, I have no idea what triple milled means, but the soap itself has a lovely fragrance - a strong crisp clean whiff of heather.
I elected not to use this in the bath - I have a great love of bubbles, which unfortunately tend to be destroyed by traditional soaps . Instead, I kept this soap, in it's smart little tin, next to the bathroom sink for hand washing. And I have to say it does the job wonderfully, easily being worked up into a rich creamy lather and releasing that wonderful deep heather scent . The soap claims to be extra moisturising - I don't know if I actually noticed much difference in the softness of my skin, but I did note that this soap didn't seem to dry me out as much as other soaps had .
Although this soap has had multiple uses daily for washing hands, it seems to be lasting very well - I suspect the tin helps keep the soap in tip top condition . It's a lovely lathery bar of soap that doesn't dry out the skin, and has a wonderful fresh fragrance . At 4.99, I think it's probably something I would buy as a little pampering treat for someonem rather than as a soap for everyday home use, but I'll happily give it four stars .
