Advantages: Not fragranced, not coloured, lathered well, felt clean enough

Disadvantages: Made me into a greaseball

In my house we are constantly running out of shower gel lately! Me, my Mum and Step-Dad are all clean freaks and there's always someone in the bathroom! Personally if it's not a 'Lush' bath bomb or melt I don't mind having showers, particularly at the moment because I don't have the time or patience for a bath. I'd rather be out partying and doing stuff I shouldn't!! So Mum went out the other day and stocked up on a load of shower products and this was one of them. I'd always fancied trying it but had never had opportunity, so excited, I really was!

The Packaging....

250ml clear plastic bottle with frosted flip top lid at the bottom. On the front different shades of green writing tell me it's Simple, Refreshing Shower Gel. Under that I'm told that it has active ingredients, Cucumber Extract and Chamomile Oil. Then there's like some slashes of green colour and on the bottom I'm told 'Experts In Sensitive Skin, No Perfume, No Colour. On the back of the bottle there is a white stick on label again with shades of green writing on it telling me a bit about the product, how to use it for best results, ingredients, recycle symbol is on there, size is stated, contact details for Accantia Health And Beauty (manufacturers of Simple products) and a bar-code.

Using It....

You need a about the size of a 10p piece and that's all. Now the gel comes out like you would expect a gel to. It doesn't drip out of the bottle if you undo the lid at the bottom you have to give the bottle a gentle squeeze.

Now I disagree with Simple on the no fragrance statement and challenge you to sniff and tell me the gel doesn't smell. Quite simply it does. Not strong and not of anything in particular but there is a hint of something. It just smells clean and fresh.

I personally use a scrunchy in the shower but of course use it any way you prefer. A small amount goes a very long way and as you rub it over your body you are greeted with a very rich, white, bubbly lather and this happens rather quickly so no messing about and having to scrub at your skin. I did expect to feel this refreshing feeling as I used it but I didn't. It was just a shower gel, simple as that. It rinsed off easily and I did have fairly soft skin after usage (no more than usual though).

After Effects....

Well this was strange because like I said I did feel soft skinned. No doubt in my head I was clean and I liked the fact that I wasn't over fragranced. Skin felt hydrated and supple and I have had a bit of sunburn on my chest that was peeling a little and felt a bit warm to the touch and a bit dry and on my back and calves I am prone to grease patches. This soothed all of that to be fair (again though no more than usual).

However when I was completely dry I felt a bit sticky and clammy. I know I had rinsed the product off well enough as I take my time doing so but if I put say my hand on my leg I felt really tacky. This feeling went when I dressed and I was happy enough with that.

However the following day I was desperate for a shower as soon as I woke up and had me first cup of tea. I just felt grubbier than usual and my skin felt really slimy and greasy (I don't normally have this problem).

I have no idea what caused this and even my dry ends of my hair felt greasy to the touch where I had been asleep and my long hair had touched my skin.

Would I recommend this? To someone with dry skin, perhaps. I feel this is a little too moisturising for me. I have combination skin and I really thought that it would help with that or at least not cause any issues but it did and I know it was this product as nothing else had changed from my routine! Dry skin may benefit from such a product. It isn't awful but I found my sensitive skin was not amused and decided to seep grease out of my pores in defiance! It does clean you, though the no fragrance part actually for me made me not feel as clean as usual! It's ok to shave bits and bobs with due to the thick creamy lather. I won't be paying around £1.89 a bottle for it though for sure lol

Summary: Not for my skin and over priced in my view for what it is
