      Very helpful

      Well worth trying.

We have a lovely gift shop in Chelmsford which stocks unusual and pretty bath treats, and recently I saw a range which caught my eye in there which was a collection of products based on Lavender including a bath soak.

I decided to purchase this, as I quite like lavender as long as it isn't too strong, as it can create a relaxing bath. I actually purchased a rather dinky little travel size bottle of 60mls for £2.99, but you can purchase the 200ml size online for £5.75. I thought I would take advantage of the travel size bottle as I didn't want to purchase an entire container, as sometimes I am allergic to bubble baths.

The company who make this bath soak, Snowshill Lavender, are actually a third generation of farmers who up until the year 2000 were farming sheep and arable crops in the Cotswolds. They diversified into lavender production, as they realised they had perfect growing conditions being 1000 feet above sea level and having a free draining limestone soil.
So the product is truly a British one, and they have 250 acres of lavender and 250,000 plants which must look a picture in the summertime.

I was attracted to this product also because it is paraben free. I am trying wherever possible to seek out more natural products as often as I can, so was reassured to see this fitted into this category.

The bottles are fully recyclable and have a screw top making dispensing the liquid very easy indeed. The bubble bath is a lovely shade of deep violet, and unscrewing the top reveals a gorgeous lavender scent. It is identical to the lavender bath oil fragrance which was so popular in The Body Shop some years ago, that range having been inspired by the lavender fields of French Provence.

Pouring some of the liquid into the bath I did notice quite a lack of bubbles to what I suppose I had been expecting. This is only lightly foaming and I was a little disappointed, although to a certain extent this was more than made up for by the scent which really was beautiful. I had expected to be wallowing in bubbles for an hour, but instead found myself immersed in an oily and fragrant soak. It was incredibly relaxing and the scent filled not only my bathroom on the top floor, but the entire lower section of our house which is built over three floors. It permeated the air and my husband commented as he came up the stairs saying how lovely it was.

It was very softening on the skin too, and I was pleased not to need any lotion on my body afterwards. I did notice that they sell a wide range of toiletries including a body lotion, which I may be tempted to purchase in due course. I had no problems at all with skin sensitivity after using this product, which is a good point as I often react badly to many bath products, which is why I have become so loyal to Lush over the last few years as their products rarely irritate.

This bath soak has never been tested on animals, which is the ethical policy of the company, and you must ensure that you don't store it on the bathroom window, as the contents may be affected by sunlight. As well as lavender the soak contains coconut and sea salt, though you would never discern these in the scent, which is dominated by the Lavender. As this is a natural product I did notice in the shop that the bottles were all slightly different shades, which I think made my purchase more appealing.

I notice that this product is for sale through Amazon as well as through the website at the farm, so you have two choices for mail order if your local gift shop doesn't stock it. If you live locally you can visit them during the spring and summer months, where they have a tearoom and shop which is open from Easter onwards. Details of opening times can be found on the website.

I really like this product, but I think it should be renamed "Bath Soak" as the foaming element is somewhat lacking. It is however a very comforting product which I really enjoyed using and which certainly has relaxing qualities.
