Advantages: Smells nice, looks pretty
Disadvantages: Dried out my skin, too scratchy, too expensive
It's a risky business, making a face scrub and calling it 'the greatest scrub of all'. People will expect it to be...well...great. Add to that an £8 price tag, and hopes will be raised even higher.
Two things attracted me to this beige coloured tube in the Soap and Glory section of my local Boots- first, the name. Must be something really special, I thought. Secondly, the 'smooth-boosting spheres that pop open when you press on them!'. That sounded exciting enough to warrant forking out the 8 quid, so I bought it.
The instructions are simple, smooth onto your damp face, massage in circles for 30 seconds and rinse. It says it can be used 2-4 times a week if your skin is oily, but a bit less for dry skin. Tending towards the dry side, I used this once a week.
The scrub looks and smells great- it's quite perfumed, but in a fresh sort of way. It's white with a pearly sheen, which I loved, and has little pearly spheres in it. The texture is very smooth (apart from the scrubby bits, obviously!) and quite thick. It's easy to apply to your skin, but once I started scrubbing I found it quite scratchy. And I couldn't feel any spheres popping on my face, which was a bit disappointing!
After use, my skin felt quite sore and was also very dry. The scrub claims to be for all skin types, but it certainly didn't suit mine. I'm not sure exactly what the problem was- maybe the exfoliating particles in the scrub are just too small and gritty. But having used half the 125ml tube, I gave up on it, and the rest has remained on my bathroom shelf until I got it back out for this review (what can I say, I'm a hoarder!).
So I can't really recommend this product myself, although looking at he other reviews it seems it has worked well for some people. I would say that if your skin is prone to dryness, maybe give this one a miss. At £8, it's quite expensive, and for the results you get, not really worth it. And don't believe the name!
Summary: A fairly average scrub- don't expect anything special!
