This is one of my first Soap and Glory products and I got it for Christmas along with a couple of other things from Soap and Glory.
The smell is amazing; often I unscrew the lid just to get a sniff of the stuff.
The product is also very creamy and rich, it lathers quite well and my skin felt soft straight after.
However, the good ends there. I used it once and as soon as it went on my kin it smelt very different though still quite nice, about half an hour getting out the shower you couldn’t smell it. Because of the creamy texture you needed quite a bit, although I know some people prefer creamy textured body washes it’s not for me.
The packaging is very pretty like other Soap and Glory products. It was also a fairly good price and Boots often for three for the price of two offers on Soap and Glory products.
When I tried to use it a second time I twisted the pump to open it (it has a screw top pump lid) but the pump wouldn’t work and I was already broken, I and others have tried to fix it but to no avail, I have to unscrew the whole pump and tip some into my hand to get any product out now.
Overall I wouldn’t rebuy it or recommend it to a friend and as it’s now so difficult to use I probably won’t even finish up the bottle.
I am a massive fan of the Soap & Glory products and I own nearly all of them. For Christmas I had one of their newest inventions called Rich & Foamous.
What does the product do?
The product is essentially a body wash which promises to clean your skin leaving you fresh and clean. It is described as being super creamy and smoothing on the skin. It contains some lovely natural ingredients to soften the skin including a special moisture boost complex, some delicious honey, almond milk and a supersoft skin conditioner, whatever that may be. It has been given an 'irresistible' fragrance of almond, oats and brown sugar which is also included in a lot of their newer products.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be applied generously to damp skin and massage it into the skin until it makes a lovely lather and then rinse the product off generously. It can be used in both the shower and bath.
Packaging and Price
Mine comes contained within a large plastic bottle which has a pump dispenser in order to release the product. The front of the bottle has a retro feel that is common with this brand and on the front is a vintage photo of a lady up to her neck in bubbles. The packaging gives you some extra information about the product. The body wash will cost you around £6 for a fairly large 500ml of the wash. It can be bought from department stores such as Boots and also from a range of online websites.
Application and Performance
This product really does smell completely delicious and it smells good enough to eat. It smells a lot like the Whipped Clean Shower Butter by Soap and Glory which is one of my current obsessions at the moment. It is a lot like syrup being deliciously sugar and sweet, and a little bit like porridge with syrup or honey on top. Yummy! The body wash has a creamy white colour and the consistency of the product is quite thick and luxurious. Even though it's quite thick, the product is easily dispensed and you don't need to pump the bottle too many times to get a reasonable amount of the product out of it. It feels rich and creamy on the skin and when you rub it into the skin it almost makes a thick white paste which I guess is the foaming benefit of the product.
If start to bubble a little bit but nothing too much but it certainly feels like it's getting you nice and clean. The aroma is very evident the whole time that you are using the product which makes this a lovely treat to use. The product feels completely comfortable on my skin and it hasn't caused me any irritations or discomfort. It feels very hydrating and feels like it's making my skin soft and smooth. It is easily rinsed off and it leaves your feeling clean. Once the skin is dry, it feels moisturised and that lovely aroma lingers on skin for some time after use. I wondered how this works as a bubble bath as it said it was suitable for use in the bath but it doesn't really work this way. It bubbles a little bit bit it doesn't work in this way.
All in all, this is a lovely body wash which smells completely delicious. It is thick and luxurious, foams nicely on the skin and it makes you feel really fresh and clean. The aroma stays on the skin and it makes the skin feel nice and soft. Although this is a bit expensive, you do get a lot of it and a little goes a long way. I really like this product and I would happily repurchase once it is all gone.
I have been using a few Soap & Glory products lately and I particularly loved one of the shower gels I had got from them, Foam Call, so when I needed to get something else as my free gift on the Boots 3 for 2 a while ago I decided to try another Soap & Glory shower gel. It is always worth looking out for that sort of promotion or deal on the range, as they happen fairly often. At full price, this costs £6.50 for a large 500 ml bottle.
=== Packaging ===
The 500 ml is a very generous size. It is a round bottle with a pump dispenser on the top. The pump can be turned sideways to turn it on, so that it will dispense the liquid shower gel when pressed, and when you turn it back it locks into an "off" position, meaning you cannot accidentally knock it and spill the contents out. I find this very practical as it is easy to get the right amount out and means the product will last a long time, with waste being avoided. I use one or two pumps on a shower puff.
The bottle has typical Soap & Glory retro styling, with a pink background, black and white retro photos and quirky comments and puns on it. Personally it's not really my cup of tea, but since I like the products I put up with the slightly cheesy look they have, and I know the design does appeal to a lot of people. Anyone who knows Soap & Glory will know what to expect from their design and branding!
=== Use ===
I generally dispense 1 or 2 pumps of the product onto a shower puff. As the name is Rich and Foamous, I was expecting a generous lather and I was not disappointed. It comes out as quite a creamy liquid and really does lather up very well, producing plenty of foam and bubbles. I like a lot of bubbles as it helps me feel cleaner. It feels great to use when you really want to feel scrubbed clean. I have also tested it out by lathering it on wet hands, without a puff, as I know some people don't use shower puffs. This also produces a good amount of foam, but obviously not as much as with the puff, as the puff keeps on producing more foam as you use it.
Soap & Glory say Foam Call is formulated with "M-SUDS moisture system". I have no idea what M-SUDS are and I do find it a bit unneccessary that they create their own name rather than telling you what is actually in it, but it is not a big deal. Rich and Foamous does leave my skin soft and in good condition, but I have to admit I don't really have any problem with dry skin on my body anyway and never feel particularly dried out after a shower. So I can't comment on how well it will moisturise if you do have dry skin.
The scent was one of the reasons I really wanted to try this shower gel. It is supposed to have the scent of almonds, oats and brown sugar. This sounded lovely especially as almond is one of my favourite fragrances for body products and I love my almond body butter. I thought it would be quite a drastic change from the refreshing and fruity "Fruitigo" scent of my other S&G shower gel. Personally I felt a bit disappointed by the fragrance when I used it, as I don't really get much in the way of almond and oats from it. It really smells strongly of sugar to me. This is quite nice in a way, and reminds me of baking and is a nice comforting smell, but it is not particularly refreshing and I expected something a bit more rounded and natural.
=== Over all ===
This is a great shower gel which lathers up very well, doesn't dry out skin and I really enjoy using it. Personally I was a bit disappointed by the smell as I don't love it as much as the Foam Call, but it does smell quite nice and some will love it - just a matter of taste. It will last ages and the pump bottle is practical. I would recommend it if you like very sweet scents.
I do like Soap & Glory products and every now and again I like to take advantage of Boots seemingly never ending three for two offer on such products. Included in my last purchase was this Rich & Foamous Body Wash which picked up purely because of its unusual but pleasant scent.
The body wash comes in a big 500ml plastic bottle which costs £6.50 from Boots. Whilst this may seem a little pricey for such a product I can say that this bottle lasts for ages, although I have been swopping between different shower gels I've been using this one pretty regularly for about three months now and I'm still not even half way through the bottle.
The packaging is presented in that usual Soap & Glory retro style type of way, a black and white picture of a glamorous looking woman is present on the front and the pink and silver colour scheme has been kept. The Soap & Glory logo is printed on the front as well as the product name and description which raves about how brilliant this is. There's a nice warning on the back of the bottle which tells us not to get this in the eyes but 'we have nothing against contact with As, Es, Os, Us or even sometimes Ys' which did make me chuckle a little!
The thing I usually like about Soap & Glory products is that 'Soap & Glory scent', a light and floral scent which seems to be shared between nearly all of their products. This particular body wash, however, has a completely different scent. The bottle states this is an 'irresistible almond, oats and brown sugar scent', personally I find it to smell like popcorn whilst a friend of mine said it smelt like cookies and cream to her. It's a rich, sweet and quite warm scent which doesn't get sickly. It's very unusual of a bath product, particularly a Soap & Glory one, but it smells absolutely beautiful all the same.
The product is dispensed via a pump nozzle at the top of the bottle. I just hold on my sponge underneath this nozzle and press down twice which dispenses plenty of body wash to wash my entire body. The body wash lathers up really well into a rich white foam which releases that beautiful scent again. I then just need to rinse the lather off which is easy to do and doesn't leave my skin feeling clogged up or full of residue.
This not only cleans my skin and leaves it smelling nice (that scent is detectable on the skin for about an hour or so after washing) but it also leaves it feeling extremely soft to the point where I don't even feel the need to moisturise after using this. It's an all in one type product really which just makes the price of it seem even more reasonable. I absolutely love this body wash and would recommend it anyone who wants clean, fragranced, soft skin just by taking a bath!
