St. Ives is a brand that I have heard and seen of before but isn''t really a brand I am very familiar with as although I have seen their products in my local Boots store, I have never purchased any of their products to try. When reading reviews about their range of products the majority of the products seem to sound very good. Ciao are currently paying some extra pennies for any new reviews in the face category and seeing as I hardly ever win any competitions I thought I would focus mainly on face reviews to try and earn as much as possible. The St. Ives brand was founded over 25yrs ago and they set out to create a quality line of skin care products inspired by nature. Since then St. Ives has been dedicated to bringing you the best of nature with formulas that delight the senses and they leave you skin with a soft, fresh feel. Today St. Ives products have a presence globally in over 100 countries, and woman all over the world love its flagship Apricot scrub. In the UK, as in many other countries St. Ives Scrubs are the No. 1 Scrub brand. I am reviewing the St. Ives Scrub for sensitive skin. This scrub is finely textured, so it''s less tolerant to environmental factors such as the heat, cold, wind and pollution. These factors can cause irritation, leaving your skin red and blotchy, with visible surface veins. This gentle scrub will gently exfoliate away the day''s grime revealing fresh, glowing skin. The scrub is non-irritating, dermatologist tested, has 100% natural exfoliants and extracts and is formulated without Parebens and Phthalates. The Facial scrub comes in a tube which is white in colour and stands on its lid. It clearly states on the front of the tube what the product is and a pink stripe across the tube stating ''Sensitive'', tells you that this particular product is for sensitive skin. There is a picture of half an apricot on the front of the tube. On the back of the tube it tells you a little about the product and how to use it. You can also find a list of ingredients as well. I purchased the facial scrub from my local boots store for 4.29 which was for a 150ml tube of the scrub. You can also purchase this from Superdrug and may also be able to purchase it from some supermarkets. To use the product moisten face with water. Dispense the product onto fingertips and massage all over the face. Rinse with water. Ensure you avoid direct contact with the eyes and in case of contact flush them thoroughly with water. I tied my hair back and filled the sink with lukewarm water and splashed my flash with the water to ensure it was wet. I flipped open the lid to the tube and squeezed it slightly to dispense some of the scrub onto my two fingertips. The scrub is a beige colour and there are small dark grains in it, almost like grains of sand. I gently massaged this into my face and dispensed some more of the product as and when needed. I found that a little of the scrub goes a long way. As I massaged the product into my skin I noticed the fruity scent of the product which I quite liked as it smelt refreshing. Although the scrub has grains in it, it felt gentle on my skin. As I rubbed the scrub in circular motions it felt as though it was doing a really good but gentle job of exfoliating my skin. I spent a good few minutes massaging the scrub into my face in circular motions all over until I was happy that my skin had been given a good scrub. I then rinsed the scrub off by splashing my face with water. A few splashes later and all of the scrub had been removed from my face. I found the scrub came off easily without me having to rub at my face with the water. After removing the scrub from my face I patted my skin dry with a soft fluffy towel. When looking in the mirror as the results my skin definitely looked radiant and it felt smooth as well when touching it. My skin did feel a little tight shortly after patting my skin dry but I intended on applying a moisturiser anyway. After applying a moisturiser my skin felt extremely smooth and soft and it also looked great as well. My skin no longer looked dull and it was now looking radiant and had a slight glow to it which made my skin look healthy. Although the moisturiser I use makes my skin feel soft anyway, when applying the moisturiser shortly after using the scrub it felt even more moisturised. As the scrub has small grains in it to exfoliate your skin it didn''t feel harsh on my skin and didn''t cause my skin to look red. I do sometimes have slightly drier skin on my forehead and it was good to see that this product didn''t irritate the skin or make it sore. The product didn''t dry my skin out either which was good. This is the first product I have used from the St. Ives collection and I wasn''t disappointed. I have heard of this brand before and have seen it in my local Boots store for years running but never even thought about trying the product until recently, when I decided to have a bit of a pamper session. I don''t often use a facial scrub but after using this one I need to get back into the habit of using one on a regular basis. The packaging to the product is simple but nice and because the tube stands on its lid it means it stands up nicely in the bathroom cabinet. Although I have read many reviews about St. Ives scrubs I still wasn''t 100% sure what to expect from it. I chose the sensitive skin scrub because my skin can sometimes react with products and my skin can also get a little dry to, more so in the winter. Although you can see the dark grains in the scrub and they look very small you can feel them working as you massage the product into your skin which makes it feel as though they are doing a really good job at exfoliating. I know some people aren''t too keen on the scent of the product but I quite liked the fresh, fruity smell of the product. The product was easy to apply and was just as easy to remove and left my skin feeling really smooth. I wouldn''t have said that my skin felt a huge amount softer but it did feel much smoother and also looked better. I don''t use this product every day due to having sensitive skin but I do use it a few times a week to keep my skin looking and feeling great. In terms of value the scrub does seem a little pricey, especially if you use the scrub every day. I''m really glad I purchased this scrub to try and I will definitely consider purchasing it again when I have run out. PLEASE NOTE: I have tried adding paragraphs to this so apologies if it doesn''t work and the review is in one huge block!!!
I have followed a strict facial care routine since my early teenage years where I will cleanse, scrub, tone and moisturise. It is important that I use different products as my skin ages because whilst it was once oily, it can now be described as combination where I suffer with oily patches on the T-zone, ie my forehead and nose with dry areas on my cheeks.
It is necessary for me to use facial scrubs a few times each week in order to remove any dead skin particles, which can look unsightly especially under foundation and powder. A brand that I have been using for the past six months is St Ives especially as I was thrilled with the quality and results of their body scrub.
The scrub is presented in a 150 ml squeezable tube and is described as gentle due to the inclusion of 95% naturally derived ingredients, which include Swiss glacial water and Swiss botanicals. Whilst I wouldn't describe my skin as being particularly sensitive, I have used many products over the years, which have been too harsh and as a result, my skin has reacted where I have suffered with temporary soreness and redness.
Only a 5p size amount of the scrub, which offers a subtle apricot scent, is required and it is easily dispensed from the tube. It should be applied to damp skin and gently massaged over the surface. Unlike some brands of scrubs that contain rough particles, the texture is far more delicate although it certainly does its job of exfoliating dead skin cells, which subsequently make way for new healthy growth.
There is a noticeable different immediately after using, as my skin feels soft and smooth and offers a healthy and natural glow. Whilst the scrub is suitable for daily use, I don't feel this to be necessary for my personal needs, so I use on alternate days. As a result, the 150 ml tube lasts for a good few months, which deems it to be excellent value for money especially as it generally retails at around 4.29 GBP.
Some brands of scrub can be considerably drying on the skin and whilst I always use a moisturiser to complete my skin care routine, I cannot speak of suffering with any dryness following use of the scrub.
Due to the reasons discussed above, I can highly recommend this product.
All of us differs in skin types but for me this products really works. I'm personally using the St. Ives Apricot for quite a long period of time and until now I still reap the same benefits. I've tried using other products but they are often too stringent and could harm my skin. I couldn't use them as often as I need to as they dry out my skin. But with St. Ives, it is safe for everyday use. I could scrub my whole body with it and I so love the feeling after bath - so smooth and I feel like it has cleaned the deep side of my skin because of its small granules. But I wouldn't recommend using it on face more often especially if you have larger pores as the scrubbing would just make them larger, based on my personal experience. In total, what I love most about it is that it makes my skin look brighter over time!
I have very sensitive skin. Trying to use facial scrubs in the past has often left me with a face looking like I have been stung by a hive of bees, so discovering St Ives has been a revelation for me. Despite my face being so sensitive, I am also prone to patches of dry skin that even my lovely moisturiser won't tackle, so a facial scrub seemed to be the only answer. Luckily St Ives brought out a gentle version of their Original scrub and I have never looked back. I use it once or twice a week to keep my skin fresh, supple and healthy, and without trying to sound too much like a commercial for Loreal, it really is worth it. My skin quite literally glows, and not like a bright red beacon for once! Overall, thoroughly recommend this product. The only possible disadvantage is that you might invest far too much in it.
First of all wow!
I love this scrub, it leaves my skin feeling baby soft and gets rid of any dead skin cells.
Although it's the gentle formula, it's not too mild and there is a good amount of exfoliating beads in it, but it doesn't feel really harsh.
I use it once a week, so that I don't over exfoliate and irritate my skin, and it just renews my skin and smooths out the surface of the skin! The scent doesn't irritate my skin and this has not broken me out.
I'd highly recommend it, especially considering how affordable it is. You can find it everywhere! Boots, superdrug, tesco, Waitrose you name a shop they probably will stock Saint Ives!
A great product that I recommend to everyone to try. A gorgeous smell, an affordable price. What more could you ask for.
Go and buy it as soon as you can!
I used this product mainly as face wash on my face but also on my body. The exfoliator beads are so fine but small enough to remove dead and dry skin. Leaves the pores on my face clean and tight. The apricot smell is deliciously fresh and scents your skin. My face looks brighter, moisturised and softer. The products I use have to be mild as my skin is really sensitive and I have eczema. St Ives exfoliator does not burn my skin like some products. This product was great on my legs before shaving to give ultra sleek smooth legs.
Want a smooth and glowing complexion!? Well if so this product is for you! I have a very oily complexion and I am prone to spots and blemishes. Over the years I have used many facial washes/scrubs that have either dried my skin up or made it more oily. Not with this one though, it's perfect for me and suits my every need. My face just feels so clean and fresh after using it and blemishes are significantly reduced. My spots have become less since using it. I swear by this product and I'm sure a lot of other people do too. I would 100% recommend and I will keep using it for a very long time. My favourite face wash of all time and it's reasonably priced and smells luscious :) perfect! Thanks for reading and please buy and take my word for it :) you won't be disappointed!
I've only recently tried St Ives apricot body scrub but now that I have I will not be going back to my old body scrub! I've used the st Ives apricot face wash/exfoliator for some time and i love that product, its really good for my skin and this is what prompted me to try the body scrub. As with the face wash the body scrub smells amazing, this may sound silly but I believe that if something smells almost edible you are more likely to enjoy using it and to continue using it. It also makes your skin feel seriously soft, almost like you've used an oil. I suffer from eczema so I'm always wary of trying new products as I don't want to aggrevate it, but I'm glad I tried this as it is helping with dryness that I get left with after a flare-up. I noticed from the first use how soft my skin felt and it's getting better each day. it's great :)
This apricot scrub, after using it for only a week, made my skin feel soft and silky! I was shocked at how quick it started working. Normally other scrubs irritate my skin but this work like a dream! I have sensitive skin and i was worried it might hurt my skin but it exfoliated the dead surface cells without and damage to my skin. I am not afraid to show off my skin anymore because it is something I am definitely very confident about! The only thing I would change about this product is the smell of it. It does not smell bad, but it would be nice if it smelled like berry's or something fruity (other than apricots or grapefruits). This works like a high end product, and i my opinion works more efficiently and just plain better than other products. Over all this is a great purchase and is not expansive even though it works amazingly!
I didn't like st ives..i have tryed a few other of their products and they were ok but nothing to write home about...this felt alittle gritty when applied and i wasnt much for the smell either to be honest..i thought it would be a silky feel but it wasnt so i was quite dissapointed as it wasnt exactly cheap to buy..so if you dont want that gritty feel to your skin i wouldnt recomment it..its quite strong smelling as just not to my taste could smell it linger for awhile later too..3/10 i would give it im afraid..
i know i wanted a scrub but this literally did scrub if you get my meaning, just didnt like it and i think its put me off buying anymore of their products also which is a shame
very dissapointed i spent my money on this product unfortunatley, just not nice i thought myself anyway.
The first thing you will notice about this product is the smell. Its natural, gorgeous, fruity and not overpowering, just a lovely fragrant apricot, which lends itself to a higher end product that you might find used in a health spa.
Next the consistency - creamy but with substantial exfoliating pieces that really work to remove the dead skin with minimal scrubbing effort required. In fact it is advisable to use a light hand when using this product as too harsh a pressure may cause discomfort, this is not to say that this makes the product in any way bad, rather it gives it a more rustic, natural consistency as a pose to more of a man made, refined texture that many others on the high street have.
Finally is how it leaves your skin feeling. In my opinion? Baby soft, smooth, touchable and supple. Your skin feels renewed and conditioned, of course you will want to apply moisturiser after using this product, however the way it leaves your skin feeling its like you don't even need any.
All this combined with the very reasonable price makes this product an absolute steal! It really does feel like a much more expensive brand product, and i'm sure if it were to be used in any health spa it would only receive compliments.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. Even if you are someone who tends to splash out on higher end products I don't think you will be disappointed with this one. It is a staple in my bathroom cabinet and the only thing I would say is that I wish more of the St Ives products were available on the high street, as I find them extremely good value for money.
This facial scrub really does leave your skin feeling softer and smoother - and more importantly it removes any dead skin. It is a lot harsher than most facial scrubs but you can really notice the difference when you use it. I notice this most when applying makeup after using it. I can apply the make up and it look flawless. More importantly visible pores, seem reduced in size after a few applications. Although it might be a tad expensive for a daily non-premium brand cleanser, it is well worth the money.
I would say that due to its harshness I would use this 2-3 days a week, rather than everyday. I find that using it everyday drys out my skins and causes it to be irritated. This one is a particular favourite for my oily-combination yet somewhat sensitive skin-type. Definitely would recommend to a friend or relative. Good buy
This is one of my favourite facial skincare products. This facial scrub really does leave your skin feeling softer and smoother - and more importantly it removes any dead skin. This is a perfect product for making applying flawless make-up, that much easier. More importantly visible pores, seem reduced in size after a few applications. Although it might be a tad expensive for a daily non-premium brand cleanser, it is well worth the money. Although I have on occasion used this product on a daily basis, this product is more of a 2-3 times a week product, interchanged with another less abrasive cleanser as I find my (sensitive skin) becomes irritated. The whole st ives scrub facial range is worth taking a look at, with different strengths to meet a variety of skin concerns. This one is a particular favourite for my oily-combination yet somewhat sensitive skin-type. Definitely would recommend!
This product is wonderful, I have been using it for about 6 months now three times a week, and I can honestly say it leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and clean. It is a great scrub if you don't want anything that is too gritty or can rub too hard on your skin. As it is a softer, more gentle scrub it feels as if it is lifting and refreshing your skin more than anything.
You only need to use a small amount a few times a week to feel the benefit of the scrub, therefore it lasts unlike some scrubs where you need to use loads to feel like you are able to actually use it all over. It smells nice, the packaging is good quality and even though its lasts (I have has the same one now for 6 months almost) it hasn't gone hard round the plastic on the lid.
I would definitely recommend this product if you want to give your skin a lift and I think that it is well worth the money!
This product leaves your face feeling nice and fresh. I have been using this product for approximately 6 months. Other people in my household also use this product. It is really worth the money but I must say it depends how you utilise it. Some people use too much in one go. Using a pea size amount on separate intervals or different times during the weak is enough and ensures no damage to the skin and face. The product and so has a good fresh and tangy smell to it which is from the ingredients, it's a nice smell which also adds to the freshness. The tube is well packed and this is a high quality product and worth the money.
