I am a reasonably place person and I so desperately wanted that summer glow in summer and even all year round. I had tried a medley of different fake tanning products when I was younger and I was very put off as they all eventually turned me orange or streaky. I know its called fake tan but you don't want it to look fake, you want it to look quite natural. I tried this St. Tropez self tanner on a whim because one of my friends had the whipped bronzing mousse and it looked really good on them.
I am pleased to say I absolutely love this product! It is the best product out there in my opinion for the price. I think a lot of people are deterred by the price, although it is not shockingly expensive, there are brands out there that sell fake tanning products for half the price. In my opinion the price is good if you consider how much getting a spray tan is and essentially this bottle is like 7 to 10 spray tans in a bottle.
This fake tan does not leave me looking orange at all, it has a slight green undertone which makes the skin look more olive bronzed than orange, which is definitely a good thing.
Another great thing about this gradual tanner is that it does not smell too bad! Im not saying you are going to smell amazing but it is not the usual biscuit smell that usually comes along with self tanners.
Also as I mentioned before I am quite pale and this product worked perfectly for me, so I think if you were a little darker then you would just have to gradually keep building upon the layers you had put on.
I am a huge fan of this product! As someone who was used to gradual tan moisturizers rather than mousse, I was a little skeptical before trying this out. I didn't know what I was missing! This is the perfect gradual tan product for a number of reasons.
The first thing I love about St tropez tanning products is the smell. Say goodbye to smelling like biscuits and say hello to smelling fresh and subtle. The product itself has a nice soft scent which lasts, I find, about an hour on the skin then becomes completely unnoticeable so you can get away with pretending that bronzed look is all natural.
The mousse is clear so it is important to make sure that you go over each area a few times to ensure it is everywhere. No matter how much mousse you put on one area it will all develop to the same colour so there is no strange patchiness or streaking.
Even though this is a gradual tan it still has a developing time so I found that 4 hours after applying I was already noticing a golden glow to my skin. It was in no way orange and instead the perfect bronze colour to look natural. As I am pale, I had achieved my ideal colour after only 2 applications. I simply topped up every second day to keep it looking fresh. As the mousse works by reacting with the skin, It didn't dye my clothes or sheets orange which was a lovely surprise!
I found that with this tan I never had dreaded orange hands. I used a tanning mitt to apply the mousse and used the leftover from a pump to rub onto my hands. Thankfully it looked extremely natural!
I would definitely recommend st tropez gradual tan mousse for anyone seeking a natural looking tan.
I am normally quite happy with St Tropez products, but I found that this one was a let down. It took quite a lot of days to build up a noticeable colour, but then again I do have quite dark skin (Spanish olive), which meant that I had to use up quite a lot, causing it to be an expensive product. As well as this, I found that my hands went extremely orange, and I would have to wash them after I applied the gradual tan, which would mean that my hands are a different colour to the rest of my body. I also found that areas such as my elbows and ankles and knees were much darker than the rest of my body, almost glowing orange, not giving a natural tan look, but looking quite shocking. By the time I did reach a colour I thought was okay, some parts were so orange that I had to scrub off the rest of the colour. Overall, the product may be okay if you were paler skinned, and if you didn't mind having an uneven tan!
St. Tropez Gradual Tan Mousse is the best self tanner I have come across. I have very fair skin and this mousse gives me a lovely healthy looking glow. The mousse is so easy to apply and sinks into the skin quickly so no hanging around to get dressed. I don't really mind the smell and it definately doesn't linger unlike other self tans I have used.
My top tip would be to exfoliate well before applying so that you get an even coverage. Also, if you are not using mitts to apply the mousse make sure to wash your hands thoroughly immediately after applying. I usually apply before I go to bed as it is so quick and easy to absorb into the skin.
St Tropez is one of the more expensive brands on the market but in my opinion it is definatlely the most natural looking for paler skins. If you are looking for a really dark tan it may not be for you although I am sure it comes in light to dark shades so there will probably be a shade to suit darker skin tones.
For me, this keeps my skin looking very natural and sunkissed and nobody would know how pasty white I really am!
I can honestly say I could not be without this product in my bathroom, all year round.
I have used the product recently and found it has an awful biscuit fake tan smell associated with it. It does however give a great colour on the first application and is streak free. It is a great product if you just wish a light tan. The colour does not fade with showering/bathing and does last about a week. It is probably overpriced cheaper bottles do exist out there and have the same smell and give the same streak free coverage.
