      Ok as a convenience product

I am a big fan of the St Tropez brand although it can be expensive I am always on the lookout for it! I found a 50 ml trial bottle on the cover of a magazine recently and snapped it up to try. I had heard it was not highly rated online with the beauty community but that did not put me off. I still wanted to find out for myself what it was like.

      In Boots, a 200ml tube is £14.50.

      The claim
Just 3 minutes as part of your daily shower regime, St.Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower Lotion is a convenient way to build a sunkissed, gradual glow, that provides up to 24 hour moisturisation.

      First impressions
This is golden coloured product with a shower gel consistency and it can make the floor of the shower a bit slippery.

      In use
I followed the instructions in shower, washing my body before turning off the water and rubbing in this product then leaving for three minutes before rinsing. Pat body dry then dress and watch as the tan develops (or not if you're asleep as I was). The tube does remind you to wash your hands (palms) to avoid a tan developing where you don't want it to! You are advised to use regularly to build up some colour.

      My thoughts
It can be hard to clean your hands in the shower when you are trying to let tan develop so I would advise a dry and rough flannel to use while you are waiting. I got most of mine off but was left with a nicotine yellow style streak on my index finger! I think I have a light golden glow after using this product.

      Final word
I don't think this product is to be feared. I think I used an overly generous amount in application and could have got more uses from my tube. I will look out for this again in the future as it has given subtle results and I blame myself for the smudge on my finger. One other thing to mention is that it has a light smell straight after but it is not detectable on my skin 24 hours later. It's not an offensive smell either.
