Advantages: Dense, cleanses
I hadn't come across body puffs until several years ago and I wasn't sure of the concept at first, I thought they were a bit odd but now that I have one I find it great and much prefer it to using a flannel or a sponge.
I bought this Puff for £1 from Tesco in the bath section. There were several other colours available too but I opted for pink! I didn't think that spending £1 was too much for this item at all.
A puff is a big ball of a plastic mesh type material which is used to help wash whilst in the shower. It not only washes but exfoliates too as the various parts of the mesh makes it quite rough so it helps to remove the old skin cells. This is what makes it different from a flannel or sponge which are usually too soft to be able to have this effect. Because it is a ball of mesh it also means you can manipulate it into shape quite easily- so it will fit under your arms, between your toes...wherever you want to wash you can with this whereas with a sponge I think you may have problems getting into smaller spaces.
When you add some shower gel to this puff it will lather up amazingly and seems to ooze soap which is great it means that you can easily wash yourself without having to keep adding more soap or shower gel and that you can spread it around easily.
Because it has the mesh it isn't a particularly relaxing way to wash, instead it is more invigorating so that after you have washed with this you feel as though you have done more than just wash but you have also cleansed your skin to a certain extent too.
It comes with a rope loop which you can use to hang this over your taps or shower head which is quite useful but actually I prefer to keep this away from my bath as I don't want it to end up getting water in it when it isn't being used. A negative of these puffs is that they are really hard to actually get all of the water out of as it's quite hard to squeeze. If this is left hanging off the tap so that every time the tap is turned on it drips through this then it can quite quickly go rotten. I remember my house mate having one of these and I watched it over time turn from being white into a rather off-white dirty looking colour so I am always very careful with how I use this! Keep it away from water when you are not using it and do try to get as much water out of it as possible!
You should replace this frequently so spending £1 is reasonable. I replace mine once every 6 months to ensure that it is as hygienic as possible and so do not mind spending £1 especially as it works well too.
It is rather dense with lots of folds in it which is a good thing as it means you get good lather and also a good amount of 'roughness' to help exfoliate your skin so if you are looking at buying a puff I do recommend this one or one just as dense as it.
You can buy it in a variety of colours and there are always plenty available whenever I am in Tesco so you shouldn't struggle to get hold of one! I definitely recommend it, I now no longer find flannels or sponges as effective. After I have washed with this I feel as though my circulation is buzzing around and I am invigorated.
