Advantages: very cheap, pretty colours in the bottle, lots of bubbles.
Disadvantages: didn't like the lilac smell, quite slippy in the bath.
I love nothing more than a long soak in a hot bath with a book. I like to add something to the bath water, but the price of these things can be quite a lot. So when I was picking up some bubble bath on a recent shopping trip for my kids, I spotted a bottle of this lilac creme bath, and I saw a price of just 69p for a litre, I thought I would give it a try. At that price, even if you need to use a lot each time, I didn't feel I could go wrong.
The first thing that attracted me to the product was the bottle. The packaging must have been altered a bit recently, as although it s still a clear bottle, it now has a deep purple lid. The combination of the light purple product against this dark purple was quite attractive.
When I got it home, it wasn't long till I decided to try it out. On opening the bottle there is quite a strong floral scent. I am not a massive fan of floral scents, and this one reminded me a bit of fabric conditioner rather than bath products, but I still gave it a try. Like a lot of bubble baths, the scent is less apparent when it is in the bath. It is a lot more delicate and subtle.
Using this product, a capful produces lots of bubbles. They sit on top of the water until you disturb them, and if left to just run, these pile up under the tap about a foot high. The bubbles look really dense and quite pretty. They are a brilliant white which looks a bit iridescent. It reminds me of the appearance of Kendal mint cake.
I usually stay in the bath for at least an hour, and these bubbles will last the whole time until I start to put in other soapy products which cause the bubbles to disperse.
My overall impression is that these are not the best bubbles product I have ever used. They are not really suitable for the kids as it is a bath creme with silk, and I find the bath feels quite slippy with this in. I think it would lead to an accident if I let my kids use this. The scent is ok, but not really something I enjoy. On the positive side though, they are fantastically cheap, it hasn't dried out my skin using it (though I might avoid it in the Winter months when my skin is more sensitive to drying out) and it doesn't really linger on my skin once I have got dressed again.
So, it is great for a cheap treat in the bath, but I think I would rather use something else personally. Worth a try though at the price it is, and if I was really feeling the pinch I might buy it again. However, there is also a Magnolia and silk and a Sea Minerals bath creme in this range that are the same price, and I may try these. I like the Magnolia and Silk handwash tesco do, so this one might be better for me.
Summary: A very cheap treat for the bath, but not one I will rush to get again.
