“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Shower Cream „
I was in Tesco browsing around the shower gels when I saw their own brand ones on sale. I've got plenty of Body Shop ones left but seeing these for 25p for 300ml and 40p for 500ml (08/03/2013) I bought a few- they're even cheaper than Everyday Value which is 30p for the same amount. There wasn't many left but what was left was their Lilac and Silk Cream Shower Gel but only the 300ml bottle. It wasn't much more at full price which I think is around 50p.
It's made from clear plastic so you can see the contents. The bottle is curvy making it nice to hold it's easy to squeeze as the plastic is pliable. The purple lid has a flip top with pour control hole. The label is difficult to read because the shower gel is purple and the writing is dark pink. It just says 'Tesco Creamy Shower wash, Lilac and Silk' with the ingredients and directions on the back. The quality is quite good, this doesn't seem like a cheap product at all.
The shower gel is purple in colour with a slightly pearlescent sheen. It has a subtle smell, quite light it reminds me of Palma Violet sweets, sweet and floral but sort of talcy. It's a girly smell but would be okay for men as the scent doesn't linger on you once out of the shower.
The consistency is about medium but gloopy. One 50p size squirt on the bath thingy is enough get a good lather, plenty for my whole body. It smells nice whilst in the shower although the scent doesn't stay on the skin once rinsed off. Lilac and Silk is a cream shower gel and it is does produce a little creamier lather than clear shower gels but not enough to moisturise but enough to not dry my skin out.
I like this shower gel and would happily buy it again. It gets you clean, smells nice, feels nice whilst washing with it and hasn't irritated my skin.
I haven't got any complaints so 5 stars from me.
===Why I Got This===
I tend to like my Body Shop or Avon shower gels which I buy when on offer but I do buy the cheaper ones for my husband and son to use to try and economise. However they were decidedly unimpressed with the Value bubble bath I had bought recently so when I was browsing on the Tesco grocery website I decided to give this shower gel a try as at 50p it sounded very reasonable.
Made for Tesco but it is not quite as cheap as the Everyday Value range which is 30p for 300 mls..
Tesco Lilac And Silk Shower Creme.
300 ml opaque curved plastic bottle with cerise writing and flip top cap.
The shower creme is quite thick and a lavender colour.
Use within 24 months.
Produced in Croatia for Tesco.
* Sea Minerals (300 & 500 mls)
* Magnolia and Silk (300 & 500 mls)
There may be more but this is all that is listed on their website.
This is a semi transparent lilac coloured shower gel/creme.
These days everyone is trying to cut back on expenses and I find really nice bath products are wasted on men (husband and son) who just really want to get clean. However even they tend to complain if I downgrade my shopping too much - which is what happened with my very watery Value bubble bath the other day.
However for 50p I was pleasantly surprised when this shower gel arrived with my groceries.
It does not look cheap or basic in any way and would compare in appearance quite favourably with more expensive brands.
This shower gel feels really good quality to use and I only needed about a pea sized amount on a sponge when I had a shower and it was more than adequate. It lathers up very nicely and does not seem 'cheap' when in use at all. It was not especially creamy but then it was not drying either.
The smell - although slightly more feminine than masculine is not so sweet as to prevent it being used by the male members of the household, and so far I have had no complaints. the good thing is that so little is needed for each shower - or bath - as my husband will insist on using it in baths too.
The smell is slightly sweet and I can detect some aroma of violets - but this is so mild as to be virtually un-noticeable - it just has a slight smell but nothing that would offend or annoy anyone one way or the other.
The smell could be stronger for me but for 50p what can you expect.
I will definitely now be trying out the other fragrances in this range as we will continue to use them. A bargain product that does not look cheap.
