“ Brand: Tesco / Texture: Cream / Type: Shower Gel / Suitable for: Body / What it does: Cleanses, „
Well the things I do for reviews! I am not a fan of having a shower and absolutely love having my daily bath as it gives me time to my self for some much needed peace and quiet. As we have recently bought this shower gel then I thought I would give it a go so I could give my perspective on it and not just the views of the men in my house.
The gel comes in a clear plastic bottle which for me is great as it allows me to see how much we have left and on the front in white writing is the product name and a picture of what to me looks like a small green bush. The back of the bottle, again in white writing has the product info, the ingredients, directions for use and the bottle size.
The size of this bottle is 300ml and it usually last a good two weeks in my house with Daddy and William using it. The top of the bottle has a green plastic flip lid which makes it much easier to squeeze the bottle and get the gel; out and ten with one hand close it back up.
~~USE AND RESULTS~~
The gel is a good thick consistency and is green in colour. When opening the lid of the bottle the smell comes across as being nice and pleasant and not too strong. To me is smells nothing like herbs but of pine toilet cleaner! This smell does last whilst using the gel.
For me I rub the gel to my hands to get the start of a lather and then rub it into my body. We do the same to William and he absolutely loves it as it turns his body a green colour. We are encouraging him to shower himself now as he is 7 and he finds it much easier to do so with shower gel and not soap so this is an excellent product for him, It also encourages him to wash the whole of his body as he enjoys seeing all of himself green.
The gel does make a good lather and for me I noticed how clean I felt after rinsing it all off and for some reason it made me feel like my skin was refreshed. After the gel has all be washed of I was still able to smell it and for me it was slightly too much as I was not too keen on the smell and for me it was also a bit masculine but my boys love it and it is nice when they comment on feeling clean and smelling fresh!
I did not find that this dried out my skin at all and I do have normal skin so this was no great result but as hubby has sensitive skin I was keen to see how he found it and he too has not suffered any irritation or drying effects from it which for me is a great bonus. It also left my skin feeling nice and soft and I also found this on William as well.
The product ingredients for those wishing to know are:-
Aqua, Sudium, Lautreth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride,Cocamidopropyl Bethaine, Parfum, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydrantoin, Treithylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Benzophenone - 4, Benzyl Alcohol, Citric Acid, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Rosmarinus Officinalis, Magnesium Chloride, Magnesium Nitrate, thymus Vulgaris, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinione, Sodium Benzoate, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Hexylene, CI 15985, CI 42090, CI 47005
There is a warning on the back of this bottle and I do have to agree with it as it has happened in our house, if this gel does go in the eyes then it will sting and it should be rinsed immediately with clean warm water. It is not nice and does sting when got in the eyes so do try and avoid contact with them.
~~PRICE AND AVAILABILITY~~
This is made by Tesco so it is only available in their stores and it comes in a 300ml bottle with a price tag of 48p which I felt to be a great price as we have to buy several as my boys like different ones each. The bottle lasts in our house around two weeks so this really is a good buy.
Overall after testing this out for a few weeks on the rest of my family and then finally taking the plunge and using it myself I do have to recommend this as it has a good lather, it cleans well, leaves skin soft and is a very good price. I will drop one star from it though as the fragrance is very masculine and does remind me of pine toilet cleaner!
I thought I would try a different type of shower gel for a change and as I saw this one on the shelves in Tesco. It is described as Herbal Extracts Shower Gel.
The bottle is see through in colour but appears green as this is the colour of the contents. Although it is a very basic bottle no fancy picture or writing it is quite nicely shaped. It has an easy to use flip lid. The bottle is recylable and contains 300ml of the shower gel.
When you first open the gel there is a nice fresh herb like smell. The shower gel is a nice consistency - It stays on you hand nicely and you do not lose the gel between the fingers when you are trying to apply it to your body. It is a pretty green colour and smells very pleasant. It foams up quite nicely especially if you use the gel on a sponge. It made my skin feel clean and soft. It was refreshing to have a change from the usual fruity smells. It was also great because the whole family could use the one bottle as it was not too girly or too manly!
The shower gel is a great price and cost just 49p. It is available from Tesco.
They do other shower gels in the same sort of range. I saw a sea minerals one which I am going to try next.
Tesco Herbal Extracts Shower Gel is one of Tescos cheaper shower gels retailing at only 49p for a 300ml bottle. I always like to try something new and I like an excuse to write another review so the last time I was doing an online shop I thought I would give this one a try. I have used other shower gels in the range and have found them to be quite good and certainly good value for money so was keen to see if this would be the same.
The product comes in a 300ml clear plastic bottle which is curved slightly so that it fits neatly in your hand and is easy to hold. There is no hanging hook so it has to sit either on a shelf or on the side of your bath. I like the fact that the bottle is clear as it lets you see exactly how much is left and when you need to go and buy some more. There is a flip top lid at the top which is fairly easy to do, I can do it with one hand. The top does get a bit sticky with the gel but it doesn't spread down the sides so the rest of the bottle stays clean.
The gel is a lovely bright green colour. It contains natural extracts of Rosemary and Thyme and these are listed in the ingredients on the back of the bottle. I was expecting a kind of Radox bath smell but instead I would say it was a pine fresh smell that greeted me on opening the bottle. I can't honestly say that I can pick out the Rosemary or the Thyme it is just a pine smell that reminds me of toilet cleaner! That's not to say it's a horrible smell it does have a fresh clean smell but it wouldn't be my choice for a shower gel.
The gel is quite a thin consistency. I found when I squeezed some into my hand and then rubbed my hands together to get it to foam a lot of it just fell off my hand and into the shower. I would prefer it to be a thicker gel, I think you wouldn't use or lose so much. The gel does foam up well (once you get it to stay on your hands!) and it cleans your skin but that's about it. My skin doesn't feel any softer after using and of course has a pine fresh smell about it!
All in all I have to say I was a little disappointed with this shower gel. It's too thin and I don't like the smell. It isn't one I would recommend unless you like the smell of pine. I am off to try another one!
