      Malibu scented shower creme.

In our local Tesco there are couple of shelves full of random items being sold cheaply, this was where I spotted a 250ml bottle of Tesco branded Coconut & Mango shower crème for 50p. A quick look at the front of the bottle convinced me to buy because it claims to contain essential oils and have added tropical kick, and it had been a long time since I had purchased any Coconut based toiletries. The bottle is top down, which is always a perk as I don't have to balance the bottle precariously to get every last bit of shower crème out. The flip lid reveals a nice sized hole for the shower crème to be dispensed from; only a slight squeeze is needed to produce a generous dollop. The shower crème is a slightly translucent white colour, not the nicest looking shower product but it does smell nice. The Coconut scent hits me immediately, the Mango seems to be missing, the scent makes me think of Malibu. Do I want to smell like a Caribbean rum drink? Hell yes!! It smells gorgeous. The shower crème produces masses of creamy bubbles with the help of my shower flower and I am soon enveloped in a cloud of Coconut goodness. After the shower my skin is left feeling soft, clean and lightly scented with Coconut, what more could I ask for? I am very happy I picked this shower crème up off the bargain shelf; sadly it was the only one so other shoppers must know how good this is. It is comparable to a Radox or Original Source product but without the big price tag. Thank you for reading.

        cheap and coconutty

I've previously used the a couple of the Tesco 'Wake Up' range of shower gels, and really liked them. So when I was shopping in Tesco's the other week I decided to try another fragrance in the range - the coconut & mango fragranced shower gel. I chose this one as I'm currently using the Alberto Balsam Coconut & Lychee shampoo and conditioner. To be honest from a distance the Tesco Wake Up shower gels look just like Original Source shower gels, as the packaging and the logo is virtually identical. They come in a 250ml bottle, and they cost just £1.00 each. They have quite a few fragrances in the range; coconut & mango, lemon & tea tree, pomegranate, tea tree & mint, lime, and sea salt & samphire for men. The shower gel comes in a clear bottle, which I like because you can then see how much you have left at a a glance. The shower gel stands on its cap, which I also like because it makes it easy to get the last few bits out as they naturally settle at the cap end and so there's no shaking or banging of the bottle, or turning it upside down and waiting ages for the last few bits to drip down to the cap to enable you to squeeze them out. The bottle itself has a roughish feel to the exterior which makes it really easy to handle and grip in the shower as it doesn't slip out of my wet and soapy hands. The shower gel is an opaque white colour, and it has a really rich and creamy consistency. It smells absolutely divine, I wouldn't say that I can really smell the mango as such, but I can definitely smell the sweet coconut, the coconut does have a bit of a fruity twang to it, so I guess that is maybe supposed to be the mango. The front of the bottle proclaims 'wake up!' in huge letters, and the fruity coconutty fragrance does feel like a 'wake me up in the morning' kind of fragrance. The fragrance lingers on my skin for a little while after showering, and also the bathroom always smells wonderfully coconutty for ages after I've showered with this as well. This is a wonderfully moisturising shower gel, my skin doesn't feel dry or tight after using this, just refreshed and clean, and smelling gorgeous. It lathers up really well in the shower and it feels really creamy and moisturising on my skin when I'm rubbing it in. It rinses off easily, and it just leaves behind the gorgeous coconutty yet fruity fragrance. I've definitely been impressed with this, and I would buy it again. I think that I'll also try the other fragrances in the range that I've not tried yet as well.

you get what you pay for... unfortunately nowhere near as good as original source products :-(

A couple of weeks ago when doing my big monthly shop at Tesco I decided to invest in some shower gels - after moving into my house earlier in the year I have been having mainly baths, and purchasing just bubble bath for me and my daughter... It seemed easier as I just have a shower over my bath which at first I hated... but more recently its just becoming easier to have showers than baths (main reason being when Im in a bath I find it very hard to get back out again due to my laziness!). Since I was a teenager I have prefered the kind of shower gels with unusual wake up scents such as Original Source - which is my favourite - as opposed to the floral scents. However at the normal price that Original Source stocks at, I have to look for cheaper alternatives to keep my costs down. On the H&B aisle I came across the Tesco Wake Up versions of these bright type of scents and decided to give them a try! For the last couple of weeks Tesco have had an offer on these at buy 3 for 2 which worked out still cheaper than the Original Source range which was selling for £1.10 for 250ml at the time. There was 4 varietys of this range on the shelf at the time so I stocked up on all four to get a better idea of what I liked - I was also under the impression the products would be excellent as generally I am very happy with Tesco. The shower gel I am going to review today is Wake Up! Coconut & Mango - which is a more relaxed sutle scent as opposed to the mint and lime ones I like the best. ********** The overall bottle on the Wake up! range is a size of 250ml - this is the only size you can purchase... The bottle itself is transparent - which is always great for seeing how much product is left inside and gives product information on the front and back labels. The lid is black in colour and is situated on the bottom of the bottle - so the bottle sits up, upright on top of the lid like many other shower gels look like. The lid is firm and because its situated on the bottom makes spillages less likely. One thing I really like about this Tesco range is the rough sides on the bottle - theres nothing worse than when you are in a shower and you pick up a bottle and it slips out of your hands due to the water... The clever rough sides on these bottles make this less likely to happen! The Wake Up! range provide a variety of interesting combinations in the shower gels and as a result with the liquid inside and transparent bottles, they always stand out on the shelf. The back label gives directions on use along with ingredients and also advsies the product has a total shelf life of up to 24 months. ********** Compared to the mint scent I have previously reviewed (which I like the best as its more effective) - this scent is more relaxing and sutle. Although the scent is advertised as Coconut & Mango I can tell you first hand I don't get any hint of mango from the scent - it bursts with coconut flavour - so if you want this because you like mangos don't bother if you don't like coconut! The colouring of the gel is even like coconut milk - cream / off white in colour. The product is described on the label as a "shower creme" which to me, it is, it comes out very creamy and smooth and is nice to lather into your skin. I don't have sensitive skin but I have never noticed any irritation caused by using these shower cremes - however a few of the ingredients look chemical so it may be worth checking this before you purchase if you have any concerns. ********** My verdict I love the design of these bottles with the rough edges making it easier to grip when in the shower and how secure and unflimsy the bottles are. I do like shower gels which leave a pleasant scent on the skin after you step out the shower - this range leaves your skin scentless and doesn't do anything to leave your skin feeling any different ie. softer! The fact that it doesnt leave any scent on your skin afterwards is not a huge issue for me, as I do use a lot of highly scented body lotion anyway, but for those that don't and actually want to smell the product on their skin they might want to give this range a miss and just buy Original Source. I have found using it as a bubble bath is slightly better than using as a shower gel - at least the scent lingers on your skin that little bit longer. I am giving this particular one 3 stars out of 5 as opposed to the 4 stars I gave to the mint one - my reason for this is unlike the mint one after a bubble bath, you cannot smell this one on your skin as well. Therefore does not leave me feeling refreshed...

A nice bargain shower gel with a lovely fragrance.

Now, I'll start this review by saying that I am a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to buying shower gels, and bathroom products in general! I will only usually buy a product if it is on special offer, so I look for shower gels that are around the £1.00 mark. This product retails at £1.00, so I definitely can't fault it on price. The packaging is very basic, and comes in a clear bottle, so it's nothing fancy but it does the job. I can't say too much about the actual bottle, as it seems to change every so often! Even so, it always looks fairly sturdy, the one thing I do dislike about it is that it doesn't come with a hook. I would have much preferred it if it did, as I find that to be quite a space-saver. The smell of this product is divine, and I think it would be perfect for any coconut lover! You do get a hint of the mango, but I would say coconut is the predominant scent. It does leave my skin smelling really nice, and it's not one of those shower gels that will dry out your skin at all. I am just not overly fond of the formula, as I find it slightly too watery. You can't build it up into a lather very easily, which is a little annoying. I also don't find that it lasts as long as some of the well known brand products, such as Palmolive. I think in the future, I will wait until the more expensive brands are on special offer, and get those instead. I would say this is okay if you are looking for a cheap and cheerful product, and the scent is really gorgeous so it makes up for the formula a little!

          Disadvantages

Don't expect it to deliver that 'kick'

As a university student, I fit all the stereotypes, and especially that one where it states that all students are skint. Therefore, when I went looking for a new shower gel, and saw that the one I'd previously bought was no longer on offer, this £1 Tesco substitute seemed like a good replacement. The packaging The Tesco 'Wake Up!' range reminds me very much of the 'Original Source' range in terms of packaging. Both use a distinct black font and both bottles are designed similarly, with the black cap being at the bottom of the bottle. Perhaps this was done intentionally on Tesco's part in order to cash in on some of the success the 'Original Source' range has had. However, at a fraction of the price, you might be fooled into thinking that Tesco's option is the better one. The product The 'Wake Up!' includes scents such as Coconut & Mango (pictured), Pomegranate & Raspberry, Tea Tree & Mint, Lemon & Tea Tree or Mint. I have only tried the Coconut & Mango, as it was the only one on offer at my Tesco Express store. The 250ml bottle suggests that the 'tropical aroma' of the bottle will 'awaken you'. Sounds great - I'm in the middle of my exams, and I need something to get me up in the morning. Indeed, it even goes so far as to say that there's an 'added tropical kick!' However, although the smell was quite appealing to me when I smelt it in store, I found that, as a shower gel it failed to deliver. I don't think it lathers all that well, and I didn't get a sense of this 'kick' that was supposed to 'awaken' me. In fact, it just contains a very mild coconut smell (I can't really smell the mango at all). I found this to be quite disappointing, as I'd expected a wonderfully powerful scent that really brought my senses to life. The price I can't really fault the price. It's what attracted me to the product in the first place. At £1 for 250ml, it was the cheapest thing on offer in store, and I guess that's reflected in the quality of the product. Overall I wanted something cheap, and so I can't really expect to have found wonders in this product. However, when something suggests that it is a 'Wake Up!' product, I would have expected it to have a little more 'oomph' in its scent than it did.

          A Lovely Smelling Shower Gel!

If you have read any of my previous reviews you will already know I am obsessed with Shower Gel and any Bath product that I see. As my last review was on my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder who would blame me, I have to be clean. But the Shower Gel obsession seems to be more than that to me. If you read my last review (or my other Shower Gel reviews) you will already know that I suffer with a rare skin disease which is getting worse as the days go by and for a long time I was unable to use any perfumed prooducts at all. As my specialist has given me the go ahead to start using my favourite products again it has left me with an obsession to smell nice and feel clean. I suppose being OCD doesn't actually help this latest fixation though. After buying all the products that Supermarkets offer and generally any other Shower Gel that looked / smelt nice, I was starting to have a problem with finding ones I had never tried before. That was until Tesco finally arrived in my local town. Now I had a whole new 'own' branded items to try. So on the opening week I went with a mission of finding a nice, new Gel. And that is where I came across the Tesco Wake Up Coconut and Mango Shower Gel. The Tesco Shower Gel Range come in white bottle's with the lid on the bottom for easier use. On the front of the bottle is the Tesco's brand with the Wake Up logo in white letters on a black strip. Then it goes on to explain the Gel contains Coconut with added mango for that little bit extra. On the back of the bottle then, it advises you all of all the useful ingredients information, what to do if you are unsatisfied and also the usual barcode. I love the smell of Mango and Coconut as an individual smell but I was a bit apprehensive to start as I was sure the smell of Coconut and Mango together would not be the best combination, upon opening the bottle though I was shocked. The smell was delicious. It does smell more like Coconut but every now and again you do get the smell of Mango come through. All I could think of was Bounty Bars or Malibu. Yum Yum. I know eating Shower Gel is not a good idea but I really could have just eaten this all up. I will now add that I didn't. I must add aswell though that the smell is not too overpowering as I have found that some Coconut smells are really powerful. The next time I jumped in the shower I made sure I had the Gel in the bath room to use and off I went with testing my new product. As I opened the bottle the smell just enveloped me. It made me quite hungry. Squeezing the Gel into my hands was easy and the Gel itself was really thick, white and creamy. The bubbles and Lather that it produced as I proceded to wash myself were amazing. The Shower tray was full of the most scrumptious bubbles and my feet got a lovely massage of Coconut, all without using a scrunchie puff aswell. I couldn't imagine the bubble it would produce with the puff but I couldn't wait to find out. Upon drying myself once I'd had my half an hour under the steam I instantly noticed that my skin was so supple and moisturiesed. I am glad that the Gel didn't leave my skin dry as I am experiencing difficulty with using moisturising cream at the moment. It is related to my OCD and moisturising cream is leaving me feeling greasy which in turn makes me feel unclean. The smell left on my skin is amazing after using this Gel and if I have a shower at night I can still smell the scent after a 10 hour sleep which I like. I will certainly be using this Wake Up Gel again as it makes me feel so refreshed, moisturised andthe scent is amazing. I paid £1.00 for this in Tesco and certainly will again!

Try Tesco's Range Of Shower Gels To Save Money

I've been trying more out of the Tesco range of bath and body stuff and the best thing I've come across so far has been one of their Wake Up! shower gels that is the coconut and mango variety. I love the smell of coconut so was happy that this one smells proper strong of coconut and the mango isn't as strong but is in the background and makes the shower gel smell fruitier. It's a shower cream not a gel and it comes out of the bottle as a proper smooth and thick cream that lathers good when I use it with a scrunchie. You don't get zillions of bubbles but the lather is nice and thick and feels good to wash with. I love the way the coconut goes all round the bathroom and the smell lasts for ages because it's better than any air freshener and it does help me wake up in the morning so I reckon they've got the name of this range bang on! I thought my skin felt soft after I'd showered with this the first time so for the next week I just used this to test it out even though I usually swop my shower gels everyday and I realised that this coconut one does make my skin a lot smoother so much that I haven't bothered using a body lotion all week and I think that's mad for such a cheap supermarket shower gel. The coconut smell lasts on my skin as well and it smells just as good when it starts fading as when I first got out of the shower. I reckon the smell might be a bit strong for some people and blokes might think it's a bit girly but for me it's just right because I like having a subtle fragrence during the day instead of clouds of perfume like some girls so to smell of sweet coconut is lovely and I don't have to stress about invading everyone elses nostrils. The best thing is that this is only £1.00 for a 250ml bottle and that's wicked value because you don't have to use a lot of the cream to have a good wash and when you come out of the shower you'll feel proper squeaky clean and your skin will be softer too. Bonus!

I'll probably buy a different fragrance of the same product next time

This is a Tesco own-brand shower gel. ** The packaging** It comes in one of those upside-down bottles with the lid at the bottom so you can get the gel out straight away. The cap is a flip-open type so you don't lose the lid. The bottle is opaque so you can see how much gel you have left. You get 250ml, which is a nice size - not so big that you get bored with the smell before you've finished the bottle. ** Price ** £1.00 for 250ml - good value I feel. ** The product ** It is a quite thick smooth creamy gel that doesn't run off your hands. It lathers up nicely and feels good on your skin, but soapy enough that you know it is doing it's job. It is white, and smells strongly of coconut. It is a nice smell, if you like coconut! If I try really hard I can just about detect a faint mango smell underneath. The bottle says the product contains "essential oils" although I can't tell which or what, from reading the ingredients list. ** Summary ** A pleasant, cheap, shower gel that does the job.

A lovely coconut and mango shower creme which smells great

"Wake Up!" is a range of shower crèmes from Tesco made with essential oils. This shower crème is the coconut and mango for that "added tropical kick!" The shower crème comes in a curved plastic opaque bottle with a flip open cap at the bottom. Once you flip open the cap there is a seal to stop the crème from leaking out until you squeeze the bottle then it comes out quite easily. It's a good sized bottle that you can hold easily in your hand. I also like the fact that it has a flip cap rather than a lid it means you don't go dropping the cap in the shower and have to go trying to find it. The shower crème is a moderately thick creamy white coloured crème and smells wonderful. You can smell the shower crème right from the minute you open the cap. You get a real authentic coconut smell then the more subtle sweet fruity smell of the mango. It is a really nice smell and just makes you want to use it. The bottle contains 250ml of shower crème and is available only from Tesco stores and at the time of writing retails for 97p. This price is really quite good but I bought it when it was on offer for 2 bottles for £1.60 which made it even better value for money. I really like this shower gel. I have tried several of the shower crèmes from the Wake Up! Range and so far have liked all of them but this has to be my favourite so far. I think the smell of this one is just lovely the combination of the coconut and mango really work well together to give a refreshing tropical fruity smell. The crème foams up well and gives you a nice lather to wash in. Your skin feels clean and soft and refreshed after using. You can still smell the crème even after you have rinsed and dried your skin and the smell fills the bathroom too. I think it feels like a much more expensive shower crème. This shower crème is really good value for money, smells wonderful and is nice and refreshing to use. I will certainly be buying this one again. It's a little luxury at a budget price.
