I do most of my shopping at Tesco so I buy a lot of my toiletries from there and I do find that the Tesco own brands are usually very good. I bought this Tesco pomegranate and raspberry shower gel a few weeks ago and paid just 95p for it. It is a 250ml clear plastic bottle so you can clearly see how much shower gel is left in the bottle. It has a flip top lid which it stands on so the gel always settles down at this end making it easier to use especially when there is only a little bit left.
The gel is a pretty pink colour and it has a lovely thick and creamy consistency but it still comes out of the bottle easily with just a little squeeze. The smell is absolutely delicious and is so fruity you could almost eat it. It has the words WAKE UP in large black letters and I can say that it certainly does do this.
As soon as you squeeze the gel out you get a lovely fragrance of raspberries which seems to get stronger as you are using it and I can still smell it for some time after I have showered. I find that I only need about a 50p sized blob on my sponge and this is enough for me to use. It bubbles up well and the lather stays on my body until I rinse it off.
This is a lovely fresh fruity shower gel which leaves my skin clean, soft and moisturised. For less than £1 it is really good value and as it is fruity rather than floral it is suitable for men and women. I have been very impressed with this shower gel and will definitely buy it again. They also do several other fragrances in the Wake Up range including a creamy exotic coconut and vanilla which I would like to try next.
This is a lovely shower gel which goes a long way as I find that I only need the one blob for a shower, compared to two or even three from other own brand shower gels. This one looks and feels like a far more expensive one and I highly recommend it and will definitely buy it again
On a visit to Tesco's I spotted this shower gel, I hadn't bought it before and thought was worth a go. Some cheaper gels are good value and are nice smelling ones too and sometimes much strong smelling than the branded ones.
The gel comes inside a transparent plastic bottle which has a flip top. The tops snaps nicely back into place after opening it. The name is clear on the front of the bottle and so easily spotted on a shelf. Immediately I flipped back the lid of this one, I could smell a very strong smell of raspberries and a really strong fruity smell, I cannot smell as much of the pomegranate as the raspberry and it is much milder than raspberries but I think the 2 fruit fragrances work extremely well together and make for a good mix. I thought it was an amazing strength since it was so cheap. The gel is a nice pink colour and quite rich, it doesn't have a runny consistency as I imagined it would have. It is extremely smooth and very soft. It flows well from the bottle too without it dripping all over the shower.
Not much is needed to create a lot of lather and bubbles, this one lathers extremely well and feels really soft on the skin and very creamy. Also it is quite creamy while showering and glides across the skin nicely. It is really revitalising and a refreshing gel. I like to use this one for my morning shower because I find it wakes me a little bit more and one I prefer for mornings or other times of the day but not for my night time shower. I much prefer a more soothing shower gel to help me unwind before bed and I find this one is more of an awakening shower gel.
Rinses well from the skin and I have found it to be suitable for my sensitive skin and found I haven't had an irritations since using it or any rashes. My little grandson loves this one, it is suitable for his more delicate skin and he also hasn't had irritations since using it. When he had his last shower and used this one, he said he could smell raspberries and was any in the bathroom lol, I told him it was the shower gel which had a strong fragrance of rasberrries.
The smell of the fruit has a lingering smell on the skin for quite some time after showering, that shows to me this one has staying power and not one that loses the smell after towel drying the body.
I think this is a super family shower gel and one which all the family could use, even though it is a pink colour, it certainly isn't one just for the women but for males too. teenagers and the little ones.
It cleans the skin really well and it removed children's paint from my grandson's legs when he was painting and dropped some on his legs. It just dissolved the paint and left his legs looking clean again. It isn't a harsh gel but a gentle one and one which is more than suitable for any skin type.
Because you don't need to use much to get a good lather, it means a little does go a very long way and the bottle does last for a long time. No wastage with it and one which is a credit to Tesco's own brand of shower gels. The bottle size is 250ml and it costs just a £1, I think this one is absolutely worth every single penny and a fabulous shower gel. I love the fragrance and it is much better than I imagined it would be. I am so pleased I bought this one to try and I will for sure buy it again in the future. I love it. So affordable for a good shower gel for any budget and I think this one is going to be a firm favourite as I love it a lot. I have paid a lot more than a pound many times for a shower gel and it hasn't been as good as this one.
I highly recommend this one if you love the smell of raspberries and pomegranate or just love a fruity fragranced shower crème. This one would be more than suitable to give a go and save some money if you are wanting to drop a brand and buy a cheaper one. I don't think you would be at all disappointed at all.
The bottle can be recycled after use.
I give it 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
The Tesco Wake Me Up range of shower gels is something I have used for a while now. Different types of products react differently with my skin, and some can bring on bouts of eczema that resurfaces and has me scratching incessantly. This range curiously hasn't reacted with my skin in a negative way, and this particular scent is one that I quite like.
Some may say it's quite a feminine scent, the fruitiness of it, but after you've washed with it there's a faint sweetness that lingers but I don't think it's particularly feminine. It doesn't linger like a perfume would, for example, and if it did then I suppose it would seem somewhat out of place on a man.
The contents are easily dispensed from the 250ml bottle, which is something I think is very important when it comes to shower products. The flow of running water and only having two hands means that if you have a screw top or it doesn't sit well in your shower then you can lose quite a bit of the product down the drain. This however, isn't an issue with this one. The click lock lid is a stand up one, meaning you close it by standing it on the lid. Make sure you do close it properly though, as if you don't it'll ooze out slowly and you may find a red trickle down the side of your shower and an empty bottle next time you come to use it.
The gel lathers up nicely, which helps loads when it comes to washing properly. The nozzle dispenses about the right amount with a small squeeze, and there is no slimy sheen left with a simple rinse. I find it cleans very well, and while with some products this means a higher concentration of sodium laureth sulphate (sls) and therefore increases the itch factor for me, with this there is none of that. There is of course a certain amount of sls in this and it sits quite high up in the list of contents, but it doesn't have the negative impact on my skin other products do, so I wonder if the composition of the other contents balances this effect out and negates it.
When you first step out of the shower after using this, there is a strong and almost sickly sweet smell, but luckily this doesn't linger to an excess. The smell is rather pleasant once you're out of the bathroom and the fruity combination of the flavours makes you feel a whole lot cleaner for quite a while. After any kind of working up a sweat later on, the scents come out a little bit again which is a nice touch too. Better to smell of pomegranate than sweat I guess!
Overall then, this is a product well worth getting. I don't usually like to try new products and I stick with what I know won't have a negative impact on my skin, and this is certainly one of those. It's a pleasant scent if a little sickly to start with, but after this fades it remains at the right level and is a complementary one. At only £1 or so for a 250ml bottle and easily dispensed, this is a good value product. Recommended.
I came across this range of shower gel's a couple of weeks ago while I was doing the weekly grocery shop in Tesco and I decided to buy a few different ones to try as they were on offer - buy two get one free.
They are part of Tesco's range of affrdable own brand cosmetics and toiletries and they can be purchased in store or online via Tesco's website. At just £1 per 250ml bottle of shower gel, I think that these are brilliant value for money. They are marketed as 'shower cremes' which makes them sound a little more luxurious and original, but in simple terms they are shower gels. There is quite a wide range of different scents available, most of which are fruity - for example lime, coconut, mango and so on. One of the three scents that I chose was the pomegranate & raspberry one as I thought that it sounded quite unusual and would make a nice change.
The shower gel comes in a sturdy plastic bottle which is transparent. The bottle reminds me a lot of the 'original source' shower gel packaging as it almost excactly the same shape. The bottle stands on its black plastic lid and the lid flips up to expose the little hole which the product is dispensed from when the bottle is tipped upside down and squeezed. The bottle when full is a bright shade of purperly pink and as the shower gel is used the bottle obviously starts to become clear. The branding on the front of the bottle is very minimalistic but has all of the information that a consumer would want to know on it including the scent, which is written in pink writing on a sqaure black background.
The back of the bottle has directions for use, warnings (eg keep away from eyes) and a lengthy list of very chemical sounding ingredients. It is worth mentioning that Tesco do not support animal testing so the product is cruelty free. The shower gel is deramtologically tested and it is suitable for all skin types. I have very sensetive skin which is prone to ezcema flare ups so I am always careful with the products that I use on my skin. I must admit that I was a little worried at first about using this but as it was so cheap I couldn't resist getting some! As it is, my skin has had no nasty reactions to this and it actually leaves my skin feeling noticeably smoother.
The shower gel itself is pink in colour which is a nice change and it is quite runny in consistency when compared to my The Body Shop shower gels, although not so runny that it drips off of my hands or loofah when I'm applying it to my skin. The shower gel can be used in the bath or shower and I use mine mainly in the bath. I usually put some in while the tap is running like I would a bubble bath and it bubbles up a little and makes the whole bathroom smell gorgeous. This smells like a Lush shower gel - it smells just as strong and good enough to eat and in my opinion it is not a synthetic or overlly powerful scent, despite it being a very sweet and fruity smell. The raspberry is definitely more noticeable than the pomegranate and I really like the smell.
The shower gel lathers up well when I apply it onto my skin with my hands or loofah and it becomes quite thick and rich. It washes off of my skin easily, leaving no residue behind. It doesn't make the bath water feeling milky, however my skin does feel noticeably softer and moisturised once I'm dried off which I think is brilliant considering how cheap it is. I also like that the sweet, feminine scent lingers for some time even once I am dryed off and dressed, it's a nice subtle scent which doesn't clash with perfumes or deodrant. Most importantly, the shower gel does what it claims to do and after using this in the bath or shower I always feel nice and refreshed and awake, as well as feeling clean and smellng gorgeous!
The perfume that I'm currently wearing is Marc Jacobs Pomegranate Splash. So I've been on a mission recently to buy pomegranate fragranced body products to complement my perfume.
I spotted this shower gel in Tescos. To be honest from a distance I thought it was an Original Source shower gel, as the packaging and the logo is virtually identical.
This is actually a pomegranate and raspberry shower creme, it's a 250ml bottle, and it costs just £1.00.
They did have quite a few other fragrances available as well; coconut and mango, lemon and tea tree, lime, and tea tree and mint. All 250ml bottles, and all priced at £1.00.
The shower gel comes in a clear bottle, which I like because you can then see how much you have left at a a glance. The shower gel stands on its cap, which I also like because it makes it easy to get the last few bits out as they naturally settle at the cap end and so there's no shaking or banging of the bottle, or turning it upside down and waiting ages for the last few bits to drip down to the cap to enable you to squeeze them out.
The shower gel is an absolutely gorgeous vibrant shocking pink colour, and it has a really rich and creamy consistency. It smells absolutely divine, I wouldn't say that you can really smell the raspberry as such, but you can definately smell the fruity pomegranate. The front of the bottle proclaims 'wake up!' in huge letters, and the fresh fruity pomegranate fragrance is definately a 'wake you up in the morning' kind of fragrance. The fragrance lingers in on your skin for quite a while after showering, and also the bathroom always smells wonderfully fruity for ages after showering with this as well.
This is a wonderfully moisturising shower gel, my skin doesn't feel dry or tight after using this, just refeshed and clean, and smelling gorgeous. It lathers up really well in the shower and feels really creamy and moisturing on your skin when you're rubbing it in. It rinses off easily, and just leaves behind the gorgeous pomegranate fragrance.
To be honest I hadn't had high hopes for it initially, as I'd never used Tesco shower gels before, and as it was only £1.00. But I was actually really impressed. I'm definately going to buy it again, as my Marc Jacobs Pomegrantate Splash is a huge 300ml bottle so I'll be using it for ages. I may also try other fragrances in the range as well.
For Christmas I received a basket full of various toiletries, mine had a pink theme to it. One of items I received in my basket was Tesco Wake Up with Pomegranate and Raspberry Shower Creme, it was brought mainly because of the colour (pink) but it also had a lovely fragrance, I have tried some of the other Tesco Wake Up Shower Creme and so far have loved all of the fragrances so far so I was sure that I was going to like this one.
The Tesco Wake Up Shower Creme comes in a clear plastic bottle which allows you to see the colour of the shower creme inside, there is a black plastic lid which forms the bottom of the bottle, this has a flat base to allow you to stand the bottle up, there is a small flap in the middle of the lid which pulls open and clips shut again, the base (the lid) is the widest part of the bottle, it then narrows slightly as you move towards the top. The bottle has a clear label stuck in the middle of it, the word Tesco is written at the top of this in red writing, in the middle of the bottle are the words "Wake Up" these are written in black writing which really stands out against the coloured background of the shower creme, just beneath this is a black box with the fragrance of the shower creme written inside, this says "Pomegranate & Raspberry Shower Creme Added Fruit Twist", this is written in different shades of pink. The back of the bottle has the same clear label on it, this is covered in small black writing which is made up of a statement about the product, the ingredients and the directions of use, this is not set out particularly clearly, whilst the writing is easy to read all of the information is written in one paragraph making it harder to separate the different sections.
The Shower Creme
The Wake Up Shower Creme is quite a vivid pink to represent the Pomegranate and Raspberry fragrance, personally I really liked the colour of this shower creme as it also matched the other pink items I have in my bathroom. The shower creme is of a reasonably thick consistency, however this was not so thick that it the made it hard to squeeze the product out of the bottle. When I opened the bottle the first thing I noticed was the lovely fragrance, the Raspberry was the dominant fragrance, to be honest I couldn't really smell the pomegranate, however the Raspberry smelt good enough to eat, its the sort of shower creme you have to keep smelling just to see how good it smells. I squeezed a small amount onto my shower puff and lathered it up with some water, the shower creme produced a lovely creamy white lather, although the pink colour had disappeared the raspberry fragrance didn't. After I had rinsed the shower creme off of my skin it felt extremely clean and fresh, once dry I could still smell the lovely fragrance of the shower creme on my skin, this lasts for some time afterwards, once this had faded my skin still felt fresh and clean. The shower creme is described as having essential oils, I didn't really notice that my skin felt particularly moisturised after bathing with this, but it certainly didn't dry my skin out, another claim of the Shower Creme is that the fruity twist is supposed to awaken you, again I agree the fruity raspberry fragrance was evident, however I didn't feel particularly awake once I had used it, it had no effect on this for me at all, but I didn't actually expect it to, for me the main the main thing was that it left me feeling clean and fresh.
Directions of Use
We all know how to use a shower creme but they still feel it necessary to put instructions on the back of the bottle, these state that you apply the shower creme to your hands, flannel or a wet sponge, work into a lather and rinse well. This is pretty basic and what you do with most products like this but I guess they have to put this information on the packaging.
This is another quite self explanatory thing which is described on the back of the bottle, the back of the bottle states that you should avoid contact with your eyes and if this happens rinse well. The only thing I would add to this is that if a reaction occurs stop use immediately, this is not listed on the back of the bottle, however the shower creme makes no promises about being suitable for sensitive skin so if you are sensitive to certain products you should be mindful about this.
As I have said this was part of a gift, obviously the Wake Up Shower Creme comes from Tesco, a 250ml bottle is sold for £1.00, this is very good value for money, it is quite similar to the Original Source products but half the price. I have tried a lot of these fragrances as well as the Tesco Wake Up and personally I cannot really find any difference, they both have a lovely strong fruity fragrance for me the only noticeable difference is the price. I will definitely be buying this product in the future, it also proves to be long lasting as a small amount of shower creme really lathers up well, I have used mine several times now and only a tiny amount has been used out of the bottle. In my opinion this is well worth the money.
Personally I love the Tesco Wake Up Pomegranate and Raspberry Shower Creme, it smells good enough to eat, whilst in my opinion the Raspberry is the dominant fragrance here this really doesn't bother me, the strong fruity fragrance lingers on your skin for quite some time afterwards and after use your skin is left feeling clean and fresh. This is definitely a product suitable for the whole family and one they will all enjoy using. It is very well priced and worth the money, this is one I shall be using in the future.
I bought this item because it was £1 & I liked the colour of it. Tesco also had some other choices of this shower gel, but I immediately liked the look of this pink one.
The bottle is easy to open, it's just a flip lid which doesnt get stuck like some of these bottles do. When I put the shower gel onto the sponge, I noticed that the colour is even more vibrant than it looks in the bottle. It smells delicious & seemed to foam really well when I was washing, so I felt like I didnt need to put a lot on the sponge.
It rinses off very easily too & still leaves a lovely smell. My skin can be quite sensitive to some products but I didnt seem to have any problems with this product. My skin feels soft & often after I've had a shower, I can still smell the fragrance of the shower gel a few hours later on my skin.
I've since stocked up on this shower gel as it's so cheap so i've now got a large stash of shower gel in m bathroom cabinet.
A few weeks ago I did my shopping on line at tesco.co.uk I haven't shopped with tesco for years so ended up with quite a few products that I had never tryed before, this shower gel at a £1 a bottle was one of them.
It comes in a easy to grip flip bottom bottle so you won't have any poblems with it slipping out of your hands when they are wet, the flip is easy to open and the shower gel is always there ready to squeeze out which is especially good towards the end of the bottle as you can get the last bits out with ease.
The shower gel it self is a little more watery than i would have liked but it lathered up well and a little goes a Long way, the smell is lovely and strong filling the whole bathroom which makes you feel realy refreshed espcially first thing in the morning.
It rinses easly and doesnt leave my skin feeling dry but neither does it moisturiee it. The smell does linger but only subtly on my skin so doesn't effect anything else I use after.
This is a nice shower gel but deinately a girly one.
Mornings are horrible especially for me! I find it really hard to wake up but finally TESCO have saved me with this beautiful shower gel.
The packaging is in a clear bottl with a black lid. The liquid is a very shocking pink thats partly why i bought it in the first place as love pink! Wake up is written on big letters on the front andit dos jst exactly that!
The liquid is very gooey and thick and I cant describe how beautiful it smells! I love pomegrammetes and sweet fruit and thats what it smells like. I find myself spending ages in the shower when using this. A little goes a long way. A dollop on a loofa lathers up really well and can cover your whole body very easily.
Thi shower gel is also extremely moisturising my skin feels really soft after using it. Also the smell stays on for ages and it just makes me feel fresh and clean. Well done tesco!
The shower gel comes in many other varieties which I have yet to try but I really recommend you do as it is not expensive at only £1.
Great product seriously recommended.
Thanks for reading
I purchased this product when I had run out of shower gel and wanted something cheap and cheerful- this definitley did the trick! It cost only £1 in Tesco for 250ml- I think this price is really reasonable in comparison to other shower gel products out there and can be conveniently purchased along with your weekly shop.
The packaging of the product is a clear bottle so you can see the bright red colouring of the product and it has the product title emblazoned on it. I like the fact thet you dispense the shower gel from the bottom of the bottle as then when it comes to nearing the end of its life you can squeeze it all out.
The shower gel is neither too runny or too thick and is bright red in colour- it has the most amazing scent- I would say on a par with shower gels in the Radox range. Its sweet and nice and fresh without being too over powering. After use, the shower gel left me feeling very clean and the scent also lasted on my skin for a little while.
I tend to use it with a bath scrunchie and thus not much is required to get a good lather of product and so this shower gel has lasted me 3-4 weeks of daily usage. Though I'm sure it wouldn't last as long if the bath scrunchie was not used.
I would definitley recommend this product- it is one of the best smelling shower gels I have used in a long time :-)
Tesco Wake Up Pomegranate & Raspberry Shower
When doing the weekly shop I realised that we needed to get quite a few bathroom items, the curse of everything running out at the same time. As I was getting more and more stuff I was aware that the weekly shop was becoming more and more expensive. I wanted to cut a few corners and that is when I noticed the Tesco wake up shower gel range.
It does have a pleasant sweet fruity smell to it, however, I'm not certain that it specifically smells of pomegranate or raspberry, it does smell a tad bit synthetic rather than natural. However, I don't mean to be overly negative as it is quite a nice fragrance. I also find that unlike some more of the expensive brands the smell doesn't stick around, when I am all dried I can't smell the fragrance on my skin.
This is also a tad watery and if you don't get it rubbed in quickly or onto the cloth or sponge then it is easy to lose most of what you squirted out down the drain. The colour of this shower gel is quite a strong reddish / pinkish colour, which is rather pleasant, it is lovely and feminine.
As a shower gel this does lather up quite well and my skin always feels clean and never dried out after I use this. The only thing I would point out is that I often need more of this to get the same level of bubbles as I get from a much smaller amount of a more expensive product.
I paid £1 for mine and it did last a good couple of weeks before it needed replaced. The packaging is simple but works very well and looks more expensive than it costs. There are also quite a few different varieties of this shower gel to try out, there are enough variations that both my hubby and I find something to suit us.
It is a reasonable alternative to some of the other shower gels that are available, however, it is clearly a cheaper equivalent to some of the more well known brands. This is a pretty average shower gel and it gets a well deserved firm three out of five star rating from me. I would recommend this product to people, but I would also tell them that in regards to this product you get what you pay for. Overall, it does what you want from a shower gel and for the price I think that this is a real bargain. I don't think I will be buying this all the time, but it is great to replace the more expensive stuff when money is tight. I also find that this makes a great shower gel for the gym, if I leave it or forget to pick it up then it doesn't cost enough that I get that upset.
Cor blimey, this is Deelish!!
Tesco have certainly got it right with this one, in all respects, packaging and product.
The packaging is a take off of a highly popular but more expensive brand of shower gels, in the hope of making us think that this is the same quality as that product. It can't quite live up to that but it gives it a damn good try.
I hate mornings, and the only thing that makes me hate them a little less is by having my senses snapped awake by the particular product I have in my bathroom on that particular day.
This is not a product that slaps your face and shouts wakey wakey, but it gently massages your little ( well in my case anyway) brain cells with its fruity and enlivening scent. It does have a great smell, although even though they may have waved essential oils past the bottle I wouldnt like to see how much of it actually made it into the bottle. This is not a safe bet for those of you who like to shower without SLS's or parabens as this does contain all those "nasties", but for the price, this does the job.
This is a Tesco own-brand shower gel.
** The packaging**
It comes in an upside-down bottle with the lid at the bottom, which means that you don't have to wait for the gel to slide down. The cap flips open, which prevents me from losing the lid. The bottle is opaque so you can see how much gel you have left.
You get 250ml, which is a nice size - not so big that you get bored with the smell before you've finished the bottle.
** Price **
£1.00 for 250ml - good value I feel.
** The product **
It is a quite thick smooth gel that doesn't run off your hands. It lathers up nicely and feels good on your skin, but soapy enough that you know it is doing it's job.
It is a pinky-red colour. When I looked at the bottle I thought "pomegranate? what does that smell like?" and then I smelt it and thought "oh! yes, pomegranate". It does smell of pomegranate, but I'm not sure what happened to the raspberry - perhaps that is all in the colour?
The bottle says the product contains "essential oils" although I can't tell which or what, from reading the ingredients list.
** Summary **
A pleasant, cheap, shower gel that does the job.
Tesco "Wake up!" are a range of fruity shower crèmes made with essential oils. These products are Tesco's answer to the well known (and considerably more expensive) Original Source fruity shower gels. The shower crème I am reviewing is the Pomegranate and Raspberry shower crème.
The product comes in a plastic bottle with curved edges so it fits neatly into your hand. The lid is on the base and is a flip open lid, there is also a clever little seal so that even if the lid is open no product will drip out unless you squeeze the bottle. This avoids the shower gel going everywhere when you open the lid.
You can see the bright pink shower crème through the slightly opaque bottle so you can see how much is left. The bottle holds 250ml and costs 99p but is currently on offer for 2 bottles for £1.60. This compares to £1.96 for a bottle of Original Source shower gel on sale in Tesco currently.
Directions for use are simply to apply to hands, a flannel or sponge and work into a lather on your skin then rinse. The combination of the pomegranate and raspberry scents are meant to refresh you and give you a good start to the day.
The smell is a lovely sweet fruity smell. It is definitely a berry smell but because there is a mixture of pomegranate and raspberry its hard to pick out the smell exactly. It certainly doesn't just smell of raspberry but I really couldnt describe what a pomegranate smells of! Suffice to say its a nice smell.
The crème is a nice thick jelly like consistency I wouldn't really class it as a crème but it's thicker than a gel, jelly is the best description I think but I guess that wouldn't sound so good to customers reading the bottle. It lathers up really well and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. After I am out of the shower or bath I can still smell the scent lightly on my skin.
I like this product, it smells nice, works well and is great value for money. Yes the Original Source products are perhaps a bit more luxurious and perhaps have stronger scents but for value for money you cant really beat the Tesco Wake Up range. I have bought this one a few times and would certainly buy it again but am also keen to try some of the other scents in the range, the orange one is next on my list to try!
With essential oils, this refreshing formula the perfect start to your day /
