Advantages: Affordable luxurious shower cream from a reputable Company
Disadvantages: Lack of lather...but that's just being picky! :~)
The Coconut Shower Cream comes in a 250 ml transparent hardened plastic container. The Body Shop's familiar logo is neatly displayed in the top corner of the label above the title of the product in straightforward deep brown Calibri font.
The reverse of the label has an inviting title, 'Made with Passion' which notes 'We searched the world far and wide for our coconut oil. Luckily for us we discovered it in the small Polynesian island of Samoa. Not only do they provide us with organic Community Trade virgin coconut oil, but many families are able to make a living and secure their future s from it too.' I dislike the thought that companies often use emotional language when enticing folk to buy their products, but, in this case, it is factual so why not boast about it I suppose!
Further on the label, the consumer is warned that if the product 'gets in the eyes, rinse with clean water'. The shelf life symbol indicates a twelve month usage time.
My Usage Experience
A simple flip top plastic lid is used to open/secure the contents. The cream coloured yogurt like consistency of the cream feels cool to the touch. The exotic aroma of coconuts hits the nasal cavity immediately. If you like the odour of this fruit, you are going to adore the fragrance that smells unadulterated with any other scent. The perfume gives the feel of a pure and sensual feeling to one's bathing experience. Ohhh 'ark at me, but really, this cream really is up there with the more expensive brands of shower gels and creams.
When I use this particular product I like to firstly stand under a medium to high temperature shower spray for a moment or two, enabling me to be thoroughly immersed in water. I then gently pour out roughly a ten pence piece in size of the lotion into the palm of my hand. Slowly I work the cream into the nape of my neck and around to my throat and shoulders, massaging the smooth velvety fluid into my skin. As the cream is used I replenish each time, around the same amount, until each section of my body is covered.
One very small disappointment that I find with this shower cream is that it does not lather but instead, produces fine soapy foam. But the resulting suds are certainly enough to cover the skin in a soft odour rich cream that makes me feel I am washing with a luxurious pricy lotion.
The after effects are gorgeous. My skin retains softness for a long while after. From time to time I can catch the fragrance of the coconut oil that is very under stated. I prefer this than being constantly overwhelmed as this fruit scent can inundate the senses and become a little sickly if one is submerged in the full on perfume!
Would I recommend
Most certainly! Though I will add that one really must like the odour of coconut and coconut oil because although this cream would feel wonderful on the skin, the user is definitely left with a lasting fragrance of the fruit, even if it is toned down!
This lavish impressive cream is available to purchase in most of The Body Shop's stores in the high street presently starting from £4.00 for a 250ml bottle, £5.50 for a 400ml size and £12.00 for the 750ml size. The Body Shop web site is a hassle free way to purchase the product also: http://www.thebodyshop.com
