The Body Shop Exfoliating Gloves
Advantages: Quality and do the job nicely
Disadvantages: None for me.
I just love The Body Shop and am often visiting their store or website spending too much money on their products. A few months back I saw a box set of different Body Shop items at a discounted price and just couldn't resist buying it, it contained a nice mix of products including some of my favorites and some which I had not yet tried. Included in the set was a pair of exfoliating gloves, I had seen them in store a few times but decided against buying them as I thought at £4 they were a little expensive. I have used exfoliating gloves for a few years picking them up for around £1-£2 at various retailers, it was my opinion that they would all be relatively the same regardless of price. Still, I was more than happy to try the Body Shops exfoliating gloves and was interested to see if they were indeed any better than the cheaper versions available.
The gloves look much like any regular gloves except they are made of a scratchy nylon material. When I first took the gloves out of the box set I immediately noticed that they were much more rougher than the gloves I had previoustly been using, I felt a little worried that they may be too harsh on my skin. However, I decided to put them to the test that afternoon. Once in the shower I put the gloves on and was happy to discover they became a little softer once wet, I also noticed that they began to look a little see-through. My hands are quite small and they fit very well, although they do have a bit of a stretch to them so they should fit most size hands comfortably. They are elasticated on the wrists and in my experience stay in place during use. I applied some of my favorite Body Shop shower gel to my hands and was pleasantly surprised by how much lather they created. I began exfoliating my legs by massaging in circular motions, I would say that these gloves are certainly more abrassive than cheaper gloves I have used, but thats not to say they are overly harsh on my skin. As with similar products it is important not to apply too much pressure anyways. Once out the shower my skin looked and felt amazing, it was silky soft to touch. I have been using these twice a week for nearly three months now and feel they have been a real benefit for my skin. I do feel they buff away any dead skin cells which leaves my skin with that nice healthy looking glow, it is also great at minimising any ingrowing hairs.
They each also have a little attached loop which is great for hanging them up by whilst they are drying. They do tend to dry quite quickly as well, maybe 5-10 minutes.
As I mentioned before, I have been using these gloves for nearly three months but will be replacing them in a few months. I have been really happy with the longevity of them as some of the cheaper ones have only last me around a month before fraying or stretching out of shape. The Body Shops gloves however are still in really good condition and I feel the need to replace them simply because I have had them for a while rather than any decline in quality. I will certainly be buying my exfoliating gloves from the Body Shop again especially when they are on offer.
The gloves I received were white but they are available in a multitude of colours including aqua, pink, lilac, orange and cream, so there is plenty of choice there. They are available in most Body Shop stores and on their website (delivery charges may apply), currently costing £4.
Summary: Great exfoliating gloves.
