      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A pretty average pleasant scented shower gel that is rather overpriced

Body Shop Cherry Blossom Shower Gel

I am not the Body Shop's greatest fan but somehow I still cannot walk past the shop when they have their 50% off sales and that is when i get tempted by products that I have not seen before in their range. I find their products over priced at full RRP so 50% off is about right for me and they are then affordable little treats.

Back in the day when Anita Roddick first started Body Shop I used to visit regularly but now it is only during a sale. I do like to try new things so when I saw the Japanese Cherry Blossom range in the sale I grabbed a shower gel and the matching body lotion too.

      PRICES
I have to admit I bought these a while back so I am not exactly sure of the price but I believe I paid about £4 for the 250 ml bottle but I notice it is around £6.50 at present which to me is far too much for this one.

      CHERRY BLOSSOM

Cherry Blossoms are so popular in Japan and they have festivals around that season. The scent in the bottle is floral but not too over powering and quite a subtle pleasantly sweet floral and a but fruity aroma. I do like the smell of Cherry blossom trees when in flower and they look so lovely on the trees too, a real sign of Spring for me.

      MY EXPERIENCE

This comes in a tall clear plastic recyclable bottle but with a hint of pink colouring and pink cherry blossom flowers decorating it. It is very feminine and pretty and makes a nice gift. It is nicer than the original plain chunky bottles that BS use for the normal range of shower gels and shampoos etc.

I am not fussed on the bottle as you have to invert it and squeeze quite hard to get the stuff out. I much prefer upside down tubes now as they are so much easier to use in a shower or bath.

This shower gel is a pretty cloudy pink colour and also is a pretty feminine floral sweet scent. It really won't appeal to many men I would imagine. The fragrance does become evident as soon as you squeeze a small amount out. I don't like showers so I tend to use mine as liquid soap in my bath. I have also used it sometimes as a bubble bath and it works pretty well as that too filling my bathroom with the lovely sweat, floral aroma.

It lathers well using my hands, a face cloth or the netty scrubby thing too. As it lathers it does give off its gentle floral aroma which although it isn't strong it is very noticeable in the batn when it mixes with warm water. Strangely I find despite not being 'in your face ' strong this does last on my skin even after I have dried myself.

This is a nice enough shower gel which doesn't promise any extra benefits such as moisturising or relaxing or stimulating. It doesn't either dry out my skin nor moisturise it. It cleans and smells good and that is about it.

IS THIS A NATURAL PRODUCT THEN?
Being a Body Shop product you might imagine this would be full of lovely natural ingredients but sadly no. This has Sodium Laureth Sulfate (Surfactant), Cocamidopropyl Betaine (Surfactant), Polysorbate 20 (Emulsifier), Parfum (Fragrance), PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate (Emulsifier), Sodium Benzoate (Preservative) and I have just picked a few. In fact I struggled to find anything natural until I got to honey which presumably is there for its sweet scent and positive skin benefits. So hardly a natural product but I guess it is still not tested on animals at least.

      RECOMMENDED?
Yes it is a good enough Shower gel but don't expect an all natural product. At £3/4 I would say it is okay value but there is no way I would pay the full price as it really is not that amazing. There are just as good shower gels from original Source, Boots naturals etc that would compete well with this.

Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same user name.

The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel

        Size 250ml

Japanese Cherry Blossom is one of the Body Shop's current ranges incorporating body care, face products and EDT and here I am reviewing the Shower Gel. The packaging is pretty pink and definitely Japanese inspired with the range having pretty pale pink background fronted with a lovely branch of slightly darker pink blossom and a temple watermark image in the background.

The container is the usual type of tall thin plastic bottle with an easy to use black flip top lid, this black lid links the Shower Gel in Nicely with the Body Butter which also features a black lid.

To use, I simply squeeze a small blob out onto my fingers or a shower scrunchie and rub gently all over my body, whilst enjoying the soft fragrance. The gel is quite thick opaque and silky to use. It makes the showering experience a much more pleasurable one and fills the bathroom with its gentle scent. The gel is moisturising and when I am in a hurry in the morning, I don't need to worry about body lotion or butter, however, when I have the time I apply the butter to my elbows, knees etc which helps strenghen the fragrance. Without the butter though the fragrance still lasts and my skin is still eft feeling soft and nourished. I believe this is gentle enough for young children, but my grand kids have their own fun products!

The fragrance is light, subtle and floral with sweet undertones. I would describe it as a soft floral subtle fragrance. I honestly believe this fragrance will suit any female, it is soft, light and feminine, so although some may prefer a stronger fragrance, there is nothing to offend here. Maybe a bit too floral for males to wear though. The fragrance lasts well and I usually layer the fragrance by using other products in the range at the same time to gain maximum benefit and to save wearing a separate perfume. The fragrance is long lasting and is strengthened by layering with other products from the range meaning that the lovely fragrance lasts well and it is lovely to receive the right sort of comments and even ego boosting compliments

        Conclusion & Stars:

I recommend The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Shower Gel, it has become one of my favourite Body Shop ranges and the Shower Gel is much more expensive than the other products that I tend to use, so I hope I find some in my Christmas stocking! I like it so much though that I tend to stock up if I can when I spot it on offer. The Japanese Cherry Blossom is my choice of luxury shower gel. The fragrance is light and fresh and uplifting to wear and the gel softens and gently cleanses my skin.

        5/5

        Price & Availability:

Usual price is a whopping £8.00 although Body Shop do sometimes do 3 for 2 on their ranges and I stock up when I spot it on offer to treat myself. From Body Shop in store and on-line.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Possibly my favourite shower gel of all time.

The Body Shop's Japanese Cherry Blossom range is one my absolute favourites. The Eau De Toilette in this range is one of my favourite perfumes and the body butter is a product I never get tired of using. As well these two items there is also a perfume oil, body lotion, fragrance mist and a shower gel in this range and on days where I combine all of these products to layer that beautiful scent I love so much it's difficult not to feel as gorgeous as the scent! As expected, this Japanese Cherry Blossom shower gel is also one of my favourites.

Not too long ago this range was revamped with new packaging causing me to nearly cry with happiness when I found all of the items in the old packaging in the half price sale! The picture displayed by Dooyoo shows this old packaging and the new one is pretty similar in bottle shape and colour scheme but has more of an orential theme about the bottle rather than just the cherry blossom tree creeping down the side of the bottle. It comes in a tall, thin plastic bottle with a pink tinge to it and a black flip top lid. The bottle is recyclable; the shower gel isn't tested on animals and contains community fair trade honey, another friendly product from The Body Shop then!

The 250ml bottle of shower gel costs £8 from The Body Shop which I will admit I find a bit steep even though I love it so much! Fortunately The Body Shop, particularly on their website, offer many good money saving offers meaning it's pretty easy to never really pay full price for anything! I got my current bottle in the sale where it cost a much more reasonable £4 and this is a price I'd happily pay for it over and over again.

The shower gel is clear in colour and is quite thick for such a product although easy enough to squeeze out of the bottle and onto my sponge where it lathers onto my skin nicely. The smell is amazing. A very delicate floral but slightly fruity scent which is subtle and feminine, this shower gel smelling exactly the same as everything else in the range. It's just a perfect scent which gets all the senses tingling when it fills up my bathroom whilst I'm washing my body with this. It's a very luxurious feeling!

As usual from The Body Shop's shower gels, this one is soap free so doesn't dry out my skin or cause any reaction to my sensitive spots. It just leaves my skin feeling refreshed, cleansed and clean whilst lightly fragranced with that gorgeous scent which lingers on the skin for a few hours waiting for the inevitable matching body butter to be applied.

I absolutely adore this shower gel and highly recommend it. I think at full price it is probably too expensive for what it is but it is easy enough to get cheaper if you keep your eye on the offers. I make it known how much I love this range which ensures I'm greeted to a gift set every birthday and Christmas so, if all else fails, try that!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

avoiding all Body Shop shower gels from now on!

The Body Shop (BS) is a beauty company which aims to find natural ingredients for their products. They have ethical values including not testing their products on animals and supporting Fair Trade and other charities.

The Body Shop offers various beauty treats from make up to shower gels and perfume to body butters. Their body products are mainly based around scents or specific ingredients. You can purchase a shower gel plus matching butters, perfumes etc in scents such as strawberry, mango and coconut. There are lots of options to suit your personal tastes.

          *~*Japanese Cherry Blossom*~*

The Japanese Cherry Blossom (JPB) range offers an Eau de Toilette fragrance, a shower gel, body puree, body spray and body butter. The items are available individually or often enough, as part of gift sets. They can be used seperately or together to build on the scent. The JPB scent reflects the natural beauty of the cherry blossom tree. The scent is described as being a floral and fruity musk on a bed of sandalwood.

The shower gel is the first step in layering up the scent. The gel is soap free designed to cleanse the skin and wrap it in a hint of the cherry blossom scent. It contains Community Trade honey which is from Ethiopia which whilst soothing and moisturising the skin, supports bee keepers in Africa.

          *~*Design*~*

The bottle containing the gel is tall and made of a thick plastic. It has a black, flip top lid which places itself at the top of the bottle. The clear plastic is decorated with a light pink label with a cherry blossom tree design emblazed on it. White writing confirms the product name, ingredients etc. The bottle can be recycled and can be safely used for 12months from 1st opening.

          *~*Availability and Price*~*

This shower gel can be bought from the Body Shop website www.bodyshop.co.uk or at your local store. A travel size 60ml bottle is priced at £3.00 and the 250ml fullsize is £8.00.

          *~*My Thoughts*~*

I find Body Shop a hit and a miss for products due to previous experience where I have been let down. I find them to be very overpriced but they do lovely giftsets. I picked up a Japanese Cherry Blossom gift set from a local charity shop for £3.50. I would never pay full price for the sets but I would guess that due to this containing a 50ml EDT, a 250ml shower gel, 50ml body butter and a body puff, it would have been around the £20.00 mark.

I do love the choice of scents you can get in Body Shop though Japanese Cherry Blossom wasn't one I had considered..I much prefer the fruity offerings! I decided that I wanted to use these products together if I liked the scent but things don't always go to plan. The rest of this review will confirm why I tend to avoid Body Shop and moreso their shower gels!

*~*Whispering Floral Nothings In The Shower*~*

The bottle is pretty in design and sturdy though the flip top cap is a nightmare to open especially with wet hands! The shiny, pink gel is a beautiful sight but it turns slightly transparent with only a hint of pink colour when dispensed. I now apply my shower gels with a body puff to make them last so my experiences are based on this. The scent on dispensing is light floral with a hint of subtle sweetness. It isn't overpowering as many are but offers the right concentration.

Ensuring my skin was thoroughly damp, I applied a blob of this to my puff and got to work. Immediately on contact with my wet skin, a beautiful, thick and indulgent lather begins to form. It is fluffy and quite heavy covering every inch of my skin in its exceptional creaminess. Despite being soap free, the mass of bubbles forming was surprising but not unexpected as I have used a BS shower gel before and discovered this.

The scent was gentle and quite soothing. The cherry blossom wasn't too floral but more of a subtle, pleasant fresh aroma sweeping around an infusion of sweet fruits and just a hint of musk. Its scent would certainly not be out of place on a man or women making it very vesatile. Once I felt clean, I rinsed my skin under the shower and the foam ran off with ease. Feeling clean, I stepped out and dried off..this is where it gets annoying.

          *~*Tingle, Burn, Wash It Away!*~*

Now I remember why I avoid BS shower gels! My last experience involved the Shea one which left my skin feeling tight and warm. The JCB one followed suit. As soon as I had dried off, my skin felt clean but no where near moisturised. For £8.00 a bottle, I expected some softness and hydration. My skin is sensitive but surely products with no soap shouldn't aggrivate it?

My skin felt too warm and this continued. I applied the matching body butter and it soothed it so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried it again the next day. The same results followed so I jumped back in the shower and basically scrubbed my skin to get rid of it. The scent didn't even last the first time and had it not been for the body butter and perfume following, you couldn't even tell I had washed with it.

Perhaps I just don't get on with BS shower gels? I can handle highly perfumed and expensive shower gels but not soap free ones for some reason. It must just be the shower gels though as my skin is fine after applying the body butters and perfumes etc so it must be one the ingredients within the gels that causes a reaction. As a result I will be offloading this to my Mum or sister as I'd rather use something that doesn't abuse my skin!

          *~*Conclusion and Recommendation*~*

Fair enough, I know lots of people who speak highly of Body Shop shower gels so perhaps its just me but I don't appreciate the way they make me feel. They smell nice, lather up well and make me feel clean but for the price, I expect better results so this gets a thumbs down from me. Further reviews on the perfume and body butter will follow this week.

          Thank you for reading :)

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

If you're feeling flush, worth a go for nice smelling skin

            The Cost...
A bottle of this costs £8 for 250mls. This product is only available in the Body Shop, online or in store.

I have a Body Shop loyalty card and over the summer i went in during a promotion and i got 6 sample pots, which were great. One of them was this shower gel. I have since bought a bottle for myself and a gift pack for a friend who was having a baby.

            The Packaging...
I really like the packaging for this range. I have been lucky enough to be in Washington DC when they have their Cherry Blossom festival, and when i saw the Cherry Blossoms on this packaging, it totally reminded me of this trip. It is very pretty, has little Cherry Blossom pictures in pink all over it and white wording.

This is one of the more expensive ranges in Body Shop. None of their stuff is cheap, but this one is pricier than your rasperry or dewberry shower gel.

It is lovely. If you're looking for a gift for your sister or mum for Christmas, give it a go, nice stuff.

            The Brand...
If you don't know of the Body Shop - where have you been?

Known for its ethical practices, from the fair trade in making products to the 'not tested on animals' in developing them, Anita Roddick (founder of the Body Shop) developed an amazing chain of stores, now on line. Very smelly, very pretty and generally good for the world.

The Body Shop is now owned by the international giant - L'Oreal. Kind of takes the shine off of it, but outwardly the Body Shop still stands for its founder's moral's and principal's.

            This Product...
The fragrance is Cherry Blossom. It isn't sickly sweet. It is floral, but not intense. Not 'old lady' smell.

Wash with water, rub this in and rinse, lathers nice.

The Body Shop staff are normally pretty clued up on their products and they will give you advice on skin types, there is also info online.

Enough to last you about three weeks if you shower at least once a day - possibly more.

More of a cleansing lotion than a moisturiser type gel, although it doesn't leave your skin dry

            My opinion...

            Light, good for daily use.

A very good product from a very good company.

            Nice gift range.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Doesn't deliver toThe Body Shop's usual standard.

I am a big fan of Body Shop bath and body products, so decided to try out Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath and Shower Gel instead of my usual favourites. Unfortunately I've been left disappointed.

I like fragrances from my bath and body products to linger on my skin, but I don't get this result with this product. I smelt the tester in the store before purchase, and liked the uplifting floral fragrance. I have a tendency to bathe rather than shower, so my first use of this was in the bath. I poured it in, and the scent just seemed to diminish. Then I used it whilst in the bath as a body wash, but the scent that lingered on my skin seemed more chemical than floral. The next time I used it was in the shower, and the effect was still the same.

I was not only disappointed by this because of my usual positive experience with Body Shop products, but because the 250ml bottle I had purchased was £8.00, so not cheap.

There are some plus-points to this bath/shower gel. Firstly, anyone who is familiar with The Body Shop will be familiar with their ethics, so you can be assured that this product is animal cruelty free and vegetarian - it is not vegan however, as it contains honey.

Secondly, the packaging is attractive. The gel is a very pale pink colour and it comes in a translucent pink bottle. The floral design on the label is also very pretty.

Thirdly, using this product felt ok on my skin. The gel rinsed off well and my skin didn't feel dry or tight after use. Lastly, this product is easily available online, at The Body Shop's high-street stores, or via Body Shop at Home parties.

I won't be purchasing this product again as it didn't deliver the lingering fragrance that I had hoped it would. Perhaps this would suit people who prefer much gentler fragrances.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A luxurious shower gel worth the price tag

I've been using this shower gel from Body Shop for a couple of months now and I absolutely love it.

The bottle is very pretty, as is the colour of the gel itself. When used, the gel lathers up very well (I have used it both with a puff, and without when I was on holiday and didn't bring one with me). While you are using it, it has a lovely smell. It is a sweet and fruity smell without being sickly sweet, and seems very luxurious. I really like products like this to have a strong smell without being overwhelming and I think this is perfect, it is feminine and sweet without being like candy.

After your shower, not only does the bathroom smell fabulous, but the gel leaves a nice smell on your skin that is again just the right amount. It lasts a long time without being overly strong, so it wouldn't clash with any other products you might want to use. It leaves my skin feeling very clean and soft for a long time after use. I have a problem with lots of shower gels that my skin feels tight or dry after using them, and by contrast this leaves my skin feeling simply clean, fresh and pleasant.

This is quite expensive for a shower gel, but a little goes a long way. I have been using it for just over two months now and am only now about to finish the bottle, as it lathers up so much, so I think it works out to be pretty good value. I have just bought a new bottle for when mine runs out, and will be continuing to use it as it really makes showers extra nice!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Id Buy It Again.

I have only two things left from my Bodyshop set that I haven't reviewed and well to be honest they are annoying me as they have been on my reviewing list for ages so I thought Id try and get them off there today starting with this "The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath & Shower Gel" which I have literally just finished and so I thought Id write about it before all the information just leaves my head! I am a big fan of pretty much everything from this range as their stuff always smells so amazing and they really do work wonders on my skin and I don't think Ive yet to try a shower gel from The Bodyshop that I don't like so that keeps me going back for more....and more. This one was no different!

              Useful Information:
Price: £8 - 250ml bottle - which to be fair is much bigger than it sounds.
              Stockists: The Bodyshop & www.thebodyshop.co.uk

This product comes in a thin, large transparent bottle that although it looks pink is actually totally clear. The one problem I do have with may shower gels from this range is that its hard to grasp the bottle when your in the shower thankfully I didn't have that problem with this one as it taller rather than fat so wet hands or not you will be able to get some out! The bottle is quite large so I think it will last quite a long time - Ive been using mine on and off since April and its only just ran out so although it is quite expensive it will last a long time.

When I first got this and read that it was soap free I automatically assumed that meant it wouldn't lather up very well at all but again thankfully I was proven wrong. In fact Id say this lathers up the best out of any Bodyshop shower gel Ive tried and a small bit on a shower puff produces LOADS of lather - Id guess a 10p piece worth is more than enough to wash your whole body so again one bottle will last ages.

Now the smell of this is very unique and not something I expected from this range. Normally their shower gels are very fruity and sweet but this one is surprisingly floral and has a really light, but equally lovely fragrance that lingers on your skin for ages afterwards so it is very different but just as nice all the same.

My skin does feel great after I have used this, really refreshed, nourished and luxurious but best of all squeaky clean. My skin feels amazing for ages after Ive used this and it looks and smells pretty fantastic as well so I don't have any complaints at all with this shower gel as it does everything I expected and smells beautiful. I would definitely buy this again - regardless of the price tag - because it does wonders fro my skin and these great results last until the next time I use it and I definitely recommend this to others as well.

              Thanks For Reading

                recommended.

                **** Introduction ****

This is a a flavour that I have never tried before, which is very suprising as I am a massive body shop lover. My friend bought me this as a treat and to my amazment this was one I had never heard of.

After researching the Japanese cherry blossom, I soon realised why. This was a limited edition flavour that proved very popular so they have brought it back as the customers demand for it was so high.

Anyway I was so excitede to take a shower with my newly found body shop product and I have this did not fail to impress me.

***** The Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath & Shower Gel ****

For me this cam in one of the nicest bottles I have ever seen the body shop product, it is a clear 200ml plastic botle that allows to to get a full view of the pale pink gel contained within the bottle. I found it very applealing as the lable was covered in tiny pink cherry blossom flowers, so on the packaging front this gets full marks from me.

As for the gel itself this also impressed me as the fragrance was to die for, it is a soft but very sweet smell which lingers all day long. granted this is very strong at first but after you rinse you body it smells great.

You only need a small bead of gel to get a very foamy lather, which is also great as some showere gels need a massive amount to get you foamed up.

I am not sure how much this exact gel was as it was a gift, but i can assume it costs the same as any other body shop gel, so you can expect to pay roughly £6.50 for it.

                ***** My Views *****

I am very impressed so if you like the body shop this is a must in any shower cubicle, I am over the moon that my friend introduced me to this range from the body shop.

if it is something you like you can also get the body butter and perfume, which are both equally as nice os the shower gel

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

Excellent for relaxing in the bath

                  Purchased from: The Body Shop

For my birthday, I received a Cherry Blossom set from my fiance's mother containing:

                  Body butter
                  Bath and shower gel
                  Eau De Toilette

Having already got the eau de toilette in my perfume collection I was really excited to see the other items and to give them a try.

The item was neatly presented in a beautiful gift box complete with scrunchy! I took the bath and shower gel out of the box, lifted the lid and had a smell. The scent was fantastic, just like the eau de toilette. A sweet, soft cherry musk smell (in my opinion).

I love this range. Fabulous scent but not overpowering like some can be, and great for any occasion. Also containing community trade honey is great for soothing your skin.

The Body Shop does a lot of products with community trade which I think is great, helping out other countries. Also:

The Zambian honey we use in our products comes from the remote tropical forests of north west Zambia, where it's farmed using traditional methods that preserve the forest and beekeepers' way of life. By producing just four buckets of honey to sell, a beekeeper can put his or her child through junior school for a year.

                  In the bath:

Started running the water and squeezed some cherry blossom shower gel into the bath and wow the aromas were exquisite. It filled the whole room within seconds. The gel is a soap free cleanser which is great for me as a lot of soaps I've used have irritated my skin. I stepped into the bath, with lots of bubbles and great aroma wafting up it was very easy to relax! After about 15 mins of lying in ecstasy, I decided it was time to give myself a scrub down. I used the scrunchie that came in the set put a little of the gel on, which a little really went a long way I have to say, it left my skin feeling super clean, fresh and smelling delicious

                  Getting out bath:

After my scrub I stayed in the bath for at least another 15 minutes soaking up the fragrance! As soon as I stepped out of the bath I noticed how soft my skin felt. The only thing I was disappointed with was that the smell didn't last very long on my skin after getting out.

                  Appearance:

The bottle is 25ml (8.4 US FL OZ), tinted in a very light pink so you're able to see how much is remaining. The label is a little bit of a darker shade of pink with a branch of a cherry blossom tree coming from the top left corner. The writing on the front contains the normal, giving you its name and a little description. The back label states all the ingredients used, also with The Body Shop's statement; 'Against Animal Testing'.

                  Ingredients:

Aqua (Solvent/Diluent), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (Surfactant), Cocamidopropyl Betaine (Surfactant), Cocamide DEA (Surfactant), Parfum (Fragrance), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), C12-13 Alkyl Lactate (Emollient), PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides (Emulsifier), Sodium Benzoate (Preservative), Mel (Natural Additive), Hexyl Cinnamal (Fragrance Ingredient), Glycerin (Humectant), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Benzophenone-4 (Sunscreen), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Sunscreen), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Fragrance Ingredient), Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde (Fragrance Ingredient), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Prunus serrulata (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Sodium Chloride (Viscosity Modifier), CI 17200 (Colour).

                  Price:

The Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath & Shower gel cost £8.00 which is very pricey for a bubble bath, but a little really goes along way. Great when it's in the half price sale!

                  Overall:

To some everything up, it is a fabulous product and a definite recommendation for the bathroom collection
