Advantages: Nice packaging, easily available, ethical brand

Disadvantages: Disappointing fragrance, expensive

I am a big fan of Body Shop bath and body products, so decided to try out Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath and Shower Gel instead of my usual favourites. Unfortunately I've been left disappointed.

I like fragrances from my bath and body products to linger on my skin, but I don't get this result with this product. I smelt the tester in the store before purchase, and liked the uplifting floral fragrance. I have a tendency to bathe rather than shower, so my first use of this was in the bath. I poured it in, and the scent just seemed to diminish. Then I used it whilst in the bath as a body wash, but the scent that lingered on my skin seemed more chemical than floral. The next time I used it was in the shower, and the effect was still the same.

I was not only disappointed by this because of my usual positive experience with Body Shop products, but because the 250ml bottle I had purchased was £8.00, so not cheap.

There are some plus-points to this bath/shower gel. Firstly, anyone who is familiar with The Body Shop will be familiar with their ethics, so you can be assured that this product is animal cruelty free and vegetarian - it is not vegan however, as it contains honey.

Secondly, the packaging is attractive. The gel is a very pale pink colour and it comes in a translucent pink bottle. The floral design on the label is also very pretty.

Thirdly, using this product felt ok on my skin. The gel rinsed off well and my skin didn't feel dry or tight after use. Lastly, this product is easily available online, at The Body Shop's high-street stores, or via Body Shop at Home parties.

I won't be purchasing this product again as it didn't deliver the lingering fragrance that I had hoped it would. Perhaps this would suit people who prefer much gentler fragrances.

Summary: Doesn't deliver toThe Body Shop's usual standard.
