Advantages: Smells gorgeous and effectively removes dead skin
Disadvantages: None for me
If you have been following my reviews you will be aware that I have been discussing various toiletries within The Body Shop Moringa range. What I love about this subtle floral fragrance is that whilst it is delicate it tends to linger on my skin for a considerable amount of time, particularly when I layer the different products. I have looked after my skin since my teens and always take time to exfoliate; a task I carry out twice a week and this review discusses The Body Shop Moringa Body Scrub.
APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT
The thoughts that fill my head when looking at the packaging is clean and peaceful, as we are presented with an eye-catching pale yellow sturdy plastic circular tub. The entire surface of the tub is covered with displays of the beautiful moringa flower with its' appearance similar to a daisy with considerably larger and smooth looking pearly white petals. The familiar Body Shop logo is located in the centre and we are advised that this product is suited to those with normal/dry skin. Whilst some areas of the skin on my face can be prone to excess oil, my body tends to be a little on the dry side, particularly on my elbows, knees and feet, so it is essential that I pay extra attention to these areas.
There is considerable information on the sides of the tub where we are advised that the scrub contains exfoliating moringa fruit powder, walnut shell and ground rice, so this product is not suited to those people who suffer with a nut allergy. It is only since I started scrutinising products for review purposes that I have realised extremely important information is provided in the smallest of print and I am of the opinion that The Body Shop should clearly highlight the nut content in a prominent position. As with the majority of The Body Shop products we are provided with a peel back label on the underside of the product, which when opened reveals a rather lengthy list of ingredients.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH USING THE BODY SCRUB
Whilst The Body Shop hygienically seal their body butters for some reason there is no seal on the scrub, so I simply needed to unscrew the lid, which was when I witnessed the delightful and absolutely stunning aroma. The scrub is oatmeal in colour and I could see tiny grain sized pieces in an array of different colours, such as yellow, purple and orange. I scooped a small amount of the good consistency scrub into my fingers and applied to dampened skin in a circular motion. The grains were evident, but not harsh on my skin and when I rinsed the area with warm water I could feel its' effects, as my skin was wonderfully soft and smooth. What I love about using this scrub is that it is not oily unlike others that I have tried, which make standing up in the bath a near impossible task! The scrub effectively removed the small fragments of dried skin that had accumulated on my elbows and left no sticky residue when rinsed away.
In my opinion this scrub is mild and gentle and I am pleased to advise that I did not suffer any adverse reactions when using, such as dryness or itching. I have been using this product on a twice-weekly basis for a couple of months and in doing so I know I am keeping my skin in tip-top condition. Whilst this scrub is perfect for your body we are informed that it should not be used on your face. The gorgeous Moringa fragrance is left lingering on my skin for several hours following use, which is a real bonus with this product. Whilst I tend to swap and change with many of my toiletries, the Moringa range is a firm favourite of mine due to its' beautiful scent and the fact that the products within the range are extremely effective. Consequently, this product receives a huge recommendation from me together with 5 stars.
OTHER INFORMATION
As you are probably aware, The Body Shop does not test any of its' products on animals and they use Community Trade ingredients. The scrub needs to be used within 12 months of opening and the tub can be recycled once empty.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
You can either purchase online or in store and if you own a Love My Body card you can receive 10% off your purchase. The scrub is available in two sizes, namely a 50 ml tub for £5.00 and a 200 ml tub for £12.50. I always tend to ask for a sample when trying out a new product, so that I can try it out in the comfort of my own home and if I am happy I will opt for the larger sized tub, as it works out considerably cheaper.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
