The Body Shop Moringa Shower Gel
Advantages: Great fragrance, luxurious foam.
Disadvantages: Bit pricey.
I have been using a lot of Body Shop products lately as I always feel like they give me the ultimate pampering experience. The latest thing I bought was a gift set of Moringa themed products. I already knew I liked the fragrance of the Moringa products as I have purchased and used their solid soap bar before, so I was really looking forward to layering up the products and really treating myself.
One of the items in my gift set was a bottle of Moringa Shower Gel. Mine is sized at 250ml but you can also get a smaller 60ml sized product. Although the smaller size might seem very small for a shower gel I have discovered that a little goes a long way with this gel so I think either size bottle would be a good buy. My 250ml bottle is made of transparent plastic and has a flip top. This lid is very safe and secure. I would be sure that it wouldn't leak if I put this bottle into a travel case.
The bottle has a descriptive label attached to it. This includes a list of ingredients and basic instructions for use. There is also a lot of information about the product and it's qualities. The Bodyshop describe this as being "delicately floral" and state it is soap-free but that it contains "moisturising moringa leaf extract" as well as Fair Trade Community honey. Furthermore they call the fragrance "heavenly" and say the tree from which the moringa flowers and leaves are harvested is a "miracle tree".
The gel is a deep oily yellow colour and is very rich and thick. When I first used this I realised it lathered up to form a very dense foam and that these bubbles were capable of cleaning the entire body without needing to add more gel. I apply the gel to a shower puff and literally only need a few squirts. This is plenty and is enough to clean every part of my body. It never feels like the foam is dying away - it remains rich and luxurious. It leaves me feeling so fresh, thoroughly clean and new and I love that the fragrance is so prominant on my dry skin.
The fragrance of the Moringa gel is very beautiful and I'd agree with the brand when they describe it as "heavenly". It's a very unique fragrance that makes me think of golden cores of tropical flowers and fields of golden rapeseed. There is definitely an untertone of plant oiliness which smells really natural and wild. There are also notes of bitter hops, sweet, fresh lemonade and spring daffodils. The finished fragance is very feminine and very beautiful. It fills up the bathroom with this glorious scent and makes me feel calm and wonderful. I think it's the kind of fragrance that is nice enough to please most women.
I'm very pleased with this shower gel and am thoroughly enjoying using it. Since I purchased a gift set I'm able to use it alongside other products like the solid soap and the body butter. This makes it feel extra special although I'm certain it would be just as pleasurable to use without these complimentary products.
I would definitely like to keep buying this but I think it's fairly expensive. This 250ml bottle is £4 and the 60ml is £2. As I bought mine as a gift set it worked out slightly cheaper for me so I think I will aim to buy it when on offer. I think you have to accept that to get ingredients of this nature you have to pay a bit more than usual. I also like the fact that the Bodyshop are one of the more ethical brands out there and they don't test on animals. I think the Moringa range would make a great gift too.
