Advantages: Delicious scent, lasts a long time, non-drying

Disadvantages: Tad expensive

In the post-Christmas sales I bought a toiletries bag from The Body Shop containing several products from the Strawberry range. Strawberries are my favourite fruit and I've had my eye on this range for a while.

One of the items included in the set was a 250ml bottle of shower gel. This normally costs £6 (a 60ml travel size is also available at a cost of £2.50). The bottle is clear plastic so you can see how much you have left, with a label containing a picture of strawberries, the name of the product and information including an ingredients list. The bottle has a flip-top lid for ease of opening in the shower. The gel inside is the normal slightly runny consistency of most shower gels, and is a lovely bright red in colour.

The ingredients of the product are too many to list here, but include strawberry juice, which presumably is the cause of the delicious strawberry smell the gel has. It is very sweet and sugary - just like strawberries with a dusting of sugar! Some people may find it too sweet. It doesn't smell as fresh and fruity as the matching body lotion, but slightly more artificial. It also contains real strawberry seed oil, which helps to moisturise.

The gel lathers up really well using a shower puff and only a small amount is needed at any one time, so it lasts for ages. The gel cleanses well and doesn't irritate my skin at all. The lovely strawberry scent wafts around the bathroom. The shower gel doesn't actively dry my skin out, but I do need to use moisturiser (I've been layering up with the matching body puree). Someone with normal or oily skin may be able to get away without moisturising. Sadly, the scent of the shower gel doesn't last on my skin, though this isn't a problem for me, as I use the matching moisturiser which DOES smell nice.

Overall, this is a really nice shower gel which has a lovely strawberry scent and layers up well with the other items in the range. It is a little on the pricey side, but The Body Shop have so many special offers on these days - particularly online - that it is relatively easy to obtain it more cheaply. Also, only a small amount is needed at any one time so it is reasonable value for money. I am sure I will be buying this again at some point in the future, as I do love strawberries!
