Advantages: Smells gorgeous, effective and leaves my skin feeling silky soft and smooth

Disadvantages: None for me

As I have mentioned in many of my previous reviews of The Body Shop, I absolutely adore so many of their products because as well as being extremely effective, they are all so brightly coloured and look adorable when on display. I am a real fan of the lemon range and my first purchase was the body butter when it was introduced approximately 12 months ago. As the product was a joy to use and left me with beautifully soft and fragranced skin I made further purchases within the same range with this review discussing my experience with using the matching body scrub.

APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT

The appearance of the entire range is so very clean and fresh with its' bright lemon packaging and the body scrub is presented to us in a circular transparent plastic tub with a lemon screw top lid. The majority of the body products belonging to The Body Shop show images of the specific fragrance and as this scrub is lemon scented there are two images of luscious looking lemons displayed on the label on the top of the lid.

USING THE SCRUB

On removing the lid I was greeted with an extremely fresh and zesty lemon fragrance, which was very natural and can be described as a perfectly uplifting aroma and I learned that this is due to the natural lemon seed oil and lemon peel. The scrub is yellow in colour, but not quite as vivid as the packaging and contains both Community Fair Trade soya oil and Community Fair Trade organic cane sugar. Although The Body Shop advise that the scrub can be used in both the bath and shower it is very rare that I will use these type of products in the bath, particularly as I find it impossible to effectively rinse them away, so I always keep them for the shower. Another downfall for me when using in the bath is that I usually end up sitting on the grains, which is a rather uncomfortable experience!

For the most effective results it is recommended that the scrub be used two or three times per week, so I stand underneath the shower head for a couple of minutes to sufficiently dampen my skin. I then move away from the shower spray and take a small scoop of the fairly thick scrub, which is easy to spread and I gently massage it over my entire body with the exception of my face, using a circular motion. What I love about this scrub is that it is non-greasy unlike some other brands that I have used and whilst it is effective at removing dead skin cells I find it very gentle. I always choose to use a net body polisher when bathing or showering, as the slight rough texture of the net stimulates the surface of my skin and in combination with this scrub it leaves it feeling silky soft and smooth to the touch.

The scrub is easily rinsed away without leaving any sticky residue and I am able to witness the wonderfully refreshing lemon aroma for a good while afterwards. Whilst this scrub contains soya oil I often feel the necessity to moisturise, particularly during the colder weather and as I favour layering my fragrances, I will either use the matching body butter or body lotion. Regular use of the scrub leaves my skin both looking and feeling clean and healthy and I cannot speak of any adverse effects, such as itching or dryness despite me frequently suffering with dry patches on my knees, elbows and feet. Consequently, I cannot recommend this product highly enough, so it receives 5 stars from me.

OTHER INFORMATION

As with all products of this nature there is an extremely lengthy list of ingredients, which for obvious reasons I do not intend copying into this review. The scrub should be used within 12 months of opening and the tub can be recycled once empty.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Sweet Lemon Body Scrub is available in two sizes, namely a 50ml tub for £5.50 and a 200ml tub for £12.50.

I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
