The Body Shop Wild Cherry Body Scrub
Advantages: Gorgeous product - Lovely aroma - Kind to skin..
Disadvantages: None whatsoever..
I absolutely adore the "Wild Cherry" range from The Body Shop and was gutted when it was discontinued by them a while back. I have since realised, however, that many items from this range are produced most times that The Body Shop has a sale on, and so I take the opportunity to stock up on my favourite products from this range at these times. I have also since realised that many of the products are available to purchase online at the brands website at www.thebodyshop.co.uk. The items from the range are generally available at a reduced price, as a result of the range being discontinued by the brand.
It was a few months ago that I was shopping in store in my local branch of The Body Shop when my eye happened upon a display featuring the familiar bright red packaging of my beloved Wild Cherry range. I made a number of purchases at this time, with this review outlining my experiences of using "The Body Shop Wild Cherry Body Scrub."
The Body Scrub is packaged in a large tub that is a generous 200ml in size. I believe that I paid around the £4 mark for the product which is a reduced price, and one that I think offers excellent value for money.
The packaging comprises of a sturdy tub made of robust plastic, with a screw off lid on top. The red lid details an image of some ripe-looking cherries complete with their stalks and this coordinates perfectly with the cherry red colour used elsewhere on the product. The bottom half of the tub is completely clear, so I can see the scrub product contained within quite easily.
The scrub itself is a red product with a consistency that reminds me of a thin and slightly runny jam or jelly. There are some assorted particles contained in the scrub product and most of these are quite tiny, being similar to grains of sand. There are larger particles peppered throughout the scrub too and these look to be similar to small pieces of seed or kernels, all of which adds to the appearance of the product. I think it really does look wonderfully enticing, and the colours used, together with the addition of the small particles give the impression that the product is quite natural and contains natural ingredients which I think makes it rather more attractive than the previous scrub product I used, which was a highly-perfumed offering from the Soap And Glory range.
To use, I need to 'scoop' a small amount of the scrub from the large tub and apply to wet skin. I find this easy to do, particularly as the consistency of the scrub is quite thin. I then apply the scrub to my skin, paying particular attention to what I describe as my 'problem areas' that suffer terribly from dry skin... my upper arms being one of the worst affected areas. Using a 'circular' type motion, I rub the scrub into the damp skin, smoothing it over the skin's layer right down to the elbow and then pay a little attention to this area which suffers from horrendously dry skin too. I repeat with the opposite arm, and any other problem areas such as my knees. I do find it beneficial to take a little time during this application process, really allowing the grainy particles in the product to work their magic; I find the feeling of the scrub feels rather therapeutic on my tired, dry skin and I find that using circular motions allows me to feel as though it is really being allowed to 'sink' into the skin's layers which feels quite lovely and as if I am rubbing a little life into my tired, aching joints!
I then rinse the product from my skin, which I find takes a minute or two due to the little particles contained in the scrub; these tend to 'cling' to the skin slightly and I find it necessary to rub the skin a little to rinse them all off effectively. It might be worth noting too that I do find I need to give the bathtub a good rinse out after the product has been used, mainly because said particles have a rather annoying habit of clinging to the corners of the bath. This is something that I have found to be the case with most other body scrub products however, and is not something that would deter me from repurchasing a particular scrub again; I find it to be a side-effect of using such a 'robust' product, in my experience!
The product's aroma is..... Wonderful. The rich, sweet aroma of fresh cherries is what attracted me to this range from The Body Shop in the first place, and the Body Scrub product does nothing to make this love affair dwindle... far from it! I find the scrub's aroma is entirely true to the scent of fresh cherries, and this feels wonderfully sweet and deliciously fresh which gives it a fairly uplifting feel, in my experience. This has made it a welcome addition to my bath time routine on the dull, cold winter mornings we have been experiencing of late! The freshness of the product's aroma makes it ideal for this time of year when it seems to feel very uplifting to use, but in addition, I do think it would be wonderfully suited to the summer months too, as I like fresh, crisp scents at this time of year. This versatility is not evident in every fruit-scented product that I own, and is another definite plus point for me.
After using the scrub, the end result is pretty impressive as it leaves my skin feeling wonderfully softened and free from dry skin, which is of course the point of using a product like this one. The scrub provides wonderful exfoliation properties to the skin, and I find that taking a little time during the application process really pays off as I touched on earlier, as this effectively removes dead skin cells and after rinsing, my skin feels rather rejuvenated and refreshed.
This result in itself is a marked improvement to the tired, dry skin that existed beforehand, but I find that applying a rich body butter or whipped body cream product directly after using the scrub seems to allow the softened skin to really absorb the nourishing qualities contained within such a product, and I find the end result is almost what I would describe as being 'baby soft', which is a pretty impressive result really, particularly for me as my skin is in such poor condition.
Due to the positive results achieved from using this product on my tired, dry skin, I have nothing but positive points to note about the Wild Cherry Body Scrub and it is a product that I have already repurchased, as a result. The scrub therefore comes with my full recommendation, together will full marks in the Dooyoo product rating score.
Summary: I will buy it again and highly recommend it!
