“ Brand: The Pink Cow / Type: Shower Gel / Suitable for: Body „
I discovered The Pink Cow bath and shower gels in Boots when they were on offer at £2.00 each instead of £2.99 each. They do 6 different fragrances; vanilla biscuit, coconut creme, strawberry sundae, lemon cheesecake, mint candy and gingerbread. Each bottle is a huge 500ml size.
I sniffed them all and decided on 2; vanilla biscuit and gingerbread. I bought the gingerbread fragrance as it is really Christmassy, and also because I have approximately half a bottle of Philosophy gingerbread girl body lotion left, and so I figured that it would compliment this nicely. I bought the vanilla biscuit fragrance because I am currently wearing Marc Jacobs biscotti splash perfume, and I figured that this would be the perfect shower gel accompaniement to the biscotti perfume. To be honest I wasn't actually too keen on most of the other shower gel fragrances, the only other one that I liked was the mint candy - this smelled just like mint chocolate, I thought that all the others just smelled a bit too sweet and sickly and synthetic for my liking.
I've been super impressed with both of the Pink Cow shower gels that I bought, I love the smell of both of them. The vanilla biscuit smells just like freshly baked vanilla biscuit cookies, and the gingerbread smells just like spicy gingerbread. I have both of them on the go at the moment, alternating depending on my mood. You do not need much of the shower gel at all to create a gorgeous, soft, creamy, moisturising lather on your skin, so they are going to last me for ages. They both leave a hint of the fragrance on your skin, not so much that it is overpowering, but enough to catch a whiff occasionally.
All in all I've been really impressed with these, especially at just £2.00 each, even at the full price of £2.99 each. I will definately buy both of these again, and I will also give the mint candy fragrance a go as well. They are superb quality for the price, they actually remind me of more expensive bath products - Philosopy bath and shower gels.
I found this range of products recently in Boots. I thought they seemed a really good price and spent ages smelling them all because I could not decide which one was nicest! I can't remember the exact price because I used the my Boots points to pay for it, but I remember being suprised how cheap they seemed for such a nice smelling, well presented product.
The bottle was a nice size, with funny statemements written on it. I opted for the Gingerbread bubblebath and took the product on holiday with me. This proved to be a big mistake because I was highly allergic to it and I came up with a rash all over my body and spent most of the day itching!
Regardless of this, I would say that it is a really nice product. The bath water actually smelt of the product (unlike some cheap bath products, where it doesn't smell of anything once it's been poured into the water.) I could also smell it on my skin for quite awhile after use. It was a nice consistency and provided lots of bubbles. If I was not allergic to the product, I would definitely buy it again.
I had run out of shower cream and I was in Boots looking for a cheap one that smelt great. When I stubled across these, I thought I'd died and gone to a (vanilla biscuit!) heaven!
~Packaging and Appearance~
The Pink Cow Bath And Shower Gel come in large bottle (500ml) so they'll last you for ages. On the front of the bottle is the title of the product and a funny little piece of writing (it says stuff like, "Paint freckles on your teddy today!" or "Why do vanilla biscuits bring back childhood memories?") and these really lift my spirits and make me laugh. Each flavour is also named "Very happy" or "Very quiet" depending on the mood of the flavour. On the back of the bottle is an ingredeints list.
The gel I'm reviewing from the range is Vanilla Biscuit, because it smelt amazing and it literally smells like liquified shortbread (as disgusting as that sounds!). The gel itself is a lovely cream in colour, and it's quite thick too - I needed a 50p-sized squirt to clean the whole of my body. After the shower I felt very clean and smelt subtly of vanilla biscuit!
One 500ml bottle of Pink Cow Bath And Shower Gel is £2.99 usually, which is amazing value considering that this is possibly the best shower gel ever made and you get a lot in the bottle.
The Pink Cow is a relatively new company as far as I know, and their range of colourful products has turned up on the shelves at Boots in recent months. They sell a range of bath and shower gels in yummy fragrances - coconut crème, strawberry sundae, lemon cheesecake, vanilla biscuit, mint candy and the one I am about to review, gingerbread.
The reason I bought this is that I am simply a bit of an addict when it comes to gingerbread! In fact it was yummy Greggs gingerbread men that caused my last diet to go astray! The thought of bathing in gingerbread really appealed to me, so when I saw this product I pretty much grabbed it off the shelf and skipped to the checkout with it!
This is two in one product, so can be used directly onto the skin as a shower gel, or poured under running water to create a bubble bath. I like the fact that it is dual purpose, as not only does it make the product economical, but it means that you can save space in your bathroom too.
The packaging this comes in is the same style as the Philosophy brand, and one that you may recognise as it has been quite widely copied. Brands such as Treacle Moon, N Spa and I love... have all adopted a similar style, with clear bottles filled with brightly coloured liquids and adorned with black writing across the front. The lid of the bottle is a basic flip top cap and I've found it to be very durable and shows no signs of breaking, despite the fact that this is a relatively large 500ml bottle and has been opened and closed numerous times.
I'll talk about this products merits as both a bubble bath and a shower gel separately, starting with how it performs as a bubble bath.
The gel is a pale orangey brown colour, and pouring it under running water, the beautiful, warming scent of gingerbread immediately comes out. It's a perfect ginger scent - neither too spicy nor too sweet, and it's both warming and nostalgic even, the scent taking me back to my childhood and thoughts of my uncle bringing my sisters and I a gingerbread man from the bakery each Saturday afternoon. The scent is strong and fills the room, yet at no point do I find it overpowering or sickly at all. I am also using another gingerbread scented product at the moment (which I'm yet to review but no doubt will at some point), which is the Nspa gingerbread latte bath syrup, and I personally think this Pink Cow product is ten times better scent wise than Nspa's version.
I find that the gel quickly foams up producing lots of frothy white bubbles, and you don't need to use a huge amount of the gel to achieve this result. I found that both the bubbles and the scent of the gel tend to last the entire duration of my bath (and I'm a big fan of long soaks!), and I find that the scent is incredibly relaxing.
I have found in the past dual purpose products tend to work well as either one thing or the other and are rarely brilliant at both jobs, but as a shower gel I am pleased to say I have found this to be equally as good.
The gel is a lovely consistency, not so runny it drips through your fingers, but not too thick either, and I find it glides across the skin easily, foaming up into a thick lather as it does so. Again, only a small amount of the product is needed per use, and if you use a shower puff you can get away with using even less. The gingerbread scent again is fairly strong and definitely noticeable and the product rinses away easily.
After use, I find that my skin feels soft and supple and there is a hint of gingerbread scent remaining on my skin. Having dry skin there is always a worry when using new products that they will strip what little moisture is left from my skin and make it even drier, however this hasn't been the case with this product and nor have I found that it has irritated my eczema in anyway (and yes I know I shouldn't be using scented products on my eczema in the first place, but where's the fun in unscented?!).
I have only ever seen this product available in Boots and a 500ml bottle of this costs the fantastically low price of £2.99. What's even better, is that over the past few months this range has frequently been on offer at just £2, so you may be able to pick it up even cheaper if you're lucky.
Overall, I am absolutely thrilled with this product and there is no question that I will be buying another bottle when this one has run out. This is an absolute dream for a gingerbread fan - it smells delicious, it works well, it's dual purpose, it's cheap as chips, I could go on! What's not to love? My advice would be to get yourself down to Boots quick and get a bottle of this, before I get there and buy them all up!
I put in a suggestion for the Pink Cow Vanilla Biscuit shower gel but dooyoo said that I have to write it here, so this review is about the Vanilla Biscuit shower gel specifically.
I'd never even heard of The Pink Cow before but when a friend bought me this as a gift it sounded lovely so I was very eager to try it out. It's usual price is £2.99 in Boots but it's on offer at the moment for £2 which I think is good value for the 500ml bottle.
The bottle is clear plastic so you can see the creamy coloured shower gel inside. It has a flip top lid that opens and closes easily but mine snapped off pretty quick after I started using it. The bottle is also pretty chunky so it can be a bit difficult to handle.
The smell of this is seriously addictive. It's like sweet vanilla cookies straight from the oven and it really does smell good enough to eat. I love the smell so much that I can't wait to use it everyday and sometimes actually have an extra bath or shower just so I can use it!
It has a lovely smooth creamy texture and it feels so good on my skin when I use it. Normally I use a shower puff with my shower gels but with this one I find it better to just use my hands as it seems to have a more intensive effect on my skin. It feels really moisturising and it's lovely just to massage over my skin and pamper myself with it. My skin feels so smooth and well moisturised after using it that I don't need to use a body lotion afterwards.
You don't need to use a lot of this to get a good lather but I like to use handfuls of it at a time as it feels so lush and luxurious. It works well as a bath foam too making loads of bubbles and leaving my skin feeling soft afterwards.
