Advantages: Smells gorgeous, effective yet very gentle on the skin
Disadvantages: None for me
APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT
The packaging of this range of products always appears clean and refreshing and the 200 ml of body scrub is no different, as it is presented to us in a transparent tube, which sits neatly on its' bright orange flip top lid. There is an image of a swimming fish located on the upper section of the tube and underneath we are able to witness the familiar Sanctuary logo together with the words Spa Covent Garden. We are informed that the scrub contains natural pumice, rejuvenating patchouli and soothing orange oil.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH USING THE BODY SCRUB
I love to be able to pamper myself and whilst I have never visited a beauty spa I enjoy using various products at home, particularly as there are so many from which to choose. The flip top lid is easily opened to allow me to dispense a small amount of the scrub, which is a little runnier than I could recall. The scrub is bright orange and its' appearance through the tube looks as if it contains tiny bubbles. I am able to witness tiny white particles, which when touched, feel slightly gritty, so I presume this to be the natural pumice. Whilst the scrub contains both patchouli and orange oil, I am unable to detect any zesty fragrance, as the most prominent aroma is definitely the patchouli, although I would state that it is not overpowering. I absolutely adore the calming and very relaxing fragrance of patchouli, so the omission of the aroma of the orange oil is neither here nor there as far as I am concerned.
As with all products of this nature, I gently massage into my wet skin using circular motions and what I particularly like is that it creates a slight lather. The sensation of the scrub on my skin is always extremely favourable, as whilst it is gentle it is clearly removing any dead skin, as the area in question feels silky soft and smooth to the touch. I can instantly feel the oil content and the first time I used this I thought my skin felt too oily, but it was soon rinsed away with no remaining residue. As the scrub is intended for the body it should not be used on the face and I use the scrub on my entire body including my feet, then rinse with warm water and towel dry as normal. This is an adorable scrub, particularly as it effectively smoothes and softens my skin as well as removing any loose particles and it leaves its' gorgeous, yet delicate fragrance lingering on the surface for a considerable time afterwards. A real bonus with this scrub is that it does not leave the base of my bath feeling oily or slippery, which is something I have experienced with other brands in the past.
Whilst I favour using moisturising creams and butters, particularly after I have bathed or showered, for the purpose of this review I omitted this process for a period of 7 days to ascertain whether this scrub leaves a drying effect. Fortunately, I suffered no adverse reaction when using the product itself neither did my skin feel dry or itchy. Although the scrub left my skin feeling soft and smooth, it does not really moisturise so it is necessary to use a moisturising lotion or cream afterwards. This is something I always favour, particularly as I love my skin to be silky soft and smooth, which only butters, lotions and creams can offer. Although this scrub can be described as gentle and is suitable for daily use, I only use these type products two or three times a week, which in my opinion is sufficient to keep any rough skin areas at bay. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and as a result, it receives five stars from me.
INGREDIENTS AND OTHER INFORMATION
There is an extremely lengthy list of ingredients contained on the reverse of the tube and for obvious reasons I do not intend copying them into this review. The scrub should not be applied to irritated or damaged skin and Sanctuary does not test any of their products on animals. The scrub should be used within 12 months of opening and the tube is recyclable once empty.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
A 200 ml tube will cost you £5.10 in Boots, but they are currently running an offer where you are provided with a free gift if you spend £10. This offer is well worth taking up and I made two x £10 purchases in order to receive two beautiful gift boxes with each containing four "Me Time Spa Treats". I was lucky enough to receive a 75 ml body wash, 50 ml body scrub, 50 ml body butter and a 30 ml hand cream, which in my opinion is excellent value for money. Unfortunately, there is no information contained on the Boots website giving details of the expiry date, so I would grab them fast whilst they are available.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
