This product is five stars for so many reasons! It is simply the nicest smelling bath/shower gel I have ever used. Having originally nicked a sneaky squirt from my housemate's bottle of Coconut Island for a soak in the bath, I became hooked on this tropical burst of coconut tastiness in every bath and had to buy my own in order not to risk depleting their bottle at a rapid rate they might *just* notice... The top feature of the product is the delectable coconut-ty scent which bursts out of the product as soon as you open the bottle and which makes it stand out from alternative products in the market. I highly recommend this product for a relaxing soak in the bath or for a tropical shower and as it's currently on special offer in Tesco, there's no reason why you shouldn't treat yourself in the next big shop!
--Where to buy--
I originally thought it must be a special designer brand because it literally smells *that* good! The packaging is quite stylish too. However, I did a quick Google search for Treacle Moon and it turns out you can buy them from the Tesco's cosmetics section. During my next big shop, I popped a few in the trolley and it turns out they were on a special offer at £1.99 a bottle which was fantastic value.
You can also get them from their own website but they are far more expensive on there, which is the original reason why I browsed around to find the best price. If you want to take a look at their full product range, then have a look at www.treaclemoon.net for more information. I had a sniff of each of the bottles of the Raspberry Kiss (smells just like Calpol!) and that Vanilla Moment (smells delectable) which I bought for my best friend as a birthday present because she loves vanilla scented products.
Also featured in the range are ginger and lemon versions. These products also come in body scrub (I bought the coconut one) and body butter (again I bought the coconut one!) so if you don't need any bath or shower gel then get the deeply nourishing body butter to moisturise and lightly perfume you with that succulent coconut paradise scent that you can almost taste or the scrub is great for exfoliation!
--How to use--
Use as a bath gel by squeezing a little into your bath, closing your eyes and relaxing back into the waves of your warm coconut island paradise! Perfect way to relax after a long day in the office...
Or as a shower gel, lather up all over you and rinse off, leaving subtle tones of coconut on your body.
Bubble rating: Only 6/10 as it's not really a bubble bath.
Scent rating: 10/10 - so yummy!
Value for money: 10/10 if you buy it from Tesco's on discount. I would be less inclined to buy at £3.03 plus postage and packaging but you can always get it at Tesco's for a good price.
Full price: 8/10 I would still buy it at £3.03 but it's slightly more of a spend, £1.99 is the ideal price!
Birthday present -ometer: 10/10 If you're a little strapped for cash, one of these would do the trick for a special friend. At £1.99 you can't complain, and neither can they once they've had a bath!
--How does it compare with similar price range products in the market--
As I was sold by the unique scent, it definitely wins over similar options such as
I was originally using the tangerine Body Shop shower gel, which I also bought on a deal, and this Coconut Island gel was so much cheaper and I actually preferred the scent.
The size of the bottle is substantial and will definitely last a while, even if you're a Treacle Moon addict like me! I'd estimate there are around 50 baths or showers worth, though I have yet to get to the end of the product.
Treacle Moon are a subdivision of the Blue Orange company. Treacle Moon donate a portion of their profits to the Khandel charity which support education of children in absolute poverty in India, which I think is a great cause. So, a portion of the sale goes to charity too, another reason to treat yourself!
Sneak one into your trolley and you won't be disappointed. Five star product, delicious scent, grab a bargain at Tesco.
I love coconut smellies and my latest coconut product is Treacle Moons My Coconut Island bath and shower gel. I hadn't tried Treacle Moon products until recently and I'm fast becoming a fan. They are reasonably priced and you get a lot of product for your money.
They are available from Tesco where a 500ml bottle will cost £2.97 ( currently on offer for £2.00) so quite good value really. I have also found them on www.Treaclemoon.net/ where they are the same price +p&p which is £2.28 for just 1 bottle!
My Coconut Island comes in a clear plastic bottle with a black flip top lid. It has a small piece of txt on the front:-
I'm going to a faraway place she said....
just for a while.... her toes wriggled in the warm sand
and a silly seagull laughed and danced in the sweet wind.
All the Treacle Moon products have a small verse in the front of them, apart from this they are quite plain and simple.
The back of the bottle has the ingredients printed on it, none of which are tested on animals. Treacle Moon products don't contain any animal products either making them suitable for vegetarians.
The bath and shower gel is white and smells divine. Its just like a sweet white coconut sauce. It actually smells good enough to eat, in fact there is a small warning on the back of the bottle saying " please do not eat" I used my coconut bath and shower gel in the bath. It squeezes from the bottle easily and it didn't take much to create a nice bubbly bath when poured under running water.
The lather is rich and as with the raspberry kiss bath and shower gel it lasted well. I hate bubbles that disappear before I get out of the bath. The gel left me feeling clean and refreshed and as with most coconut products I've tried it seems to moisturise too. My skin felt lovely and soft not tight and dry. I always think coconut has this effect as it always seen creamier than other fragrances. That is just my opinion though, the Treacle Moon bath and shower gel doesn't mention anything about containing moisturiser or leaving your skin moisturised.
The smell lingered on my skin for a little while but faded quite quickly, this is the one disappointment with this product. Apart from that this is an excellent bath and shower gel, one that I would definitely recommend.
My coconut Island is also available in the following, all can be found in Tesco or on the Treacle Moon web site:-
Hand wash lotion
Hand wash cream
Whilst browsing the shelves in my local Tesco, this bath & shower gel by Treacle Moon caught my eye. I'm a big fan of anything coconut (those who regularly read my reviews will already know that) and the front of the bottle drew me in too... Beneath My Coconut Island the bottle reads:
"I'm going to a faraway place she said... just for a while... her toes wriggled in the warm sand and a silly seagull laughed and danced in the sweet wind."
Now, isn't that delightful? Well, I thought so. Just imagine it. So the bottle of Treacle Moon My Coconut Island Bath & Shower Gel went straight into my shopping basket.
Once at home, I read the back of the bottle. Treacle Moon tell us to always remember that true beauty begins from the heart and that their lovely recipes simply do the best they can for your skin and your smile. Well, I certainly had a smile on my face. We're then told that it's a special little team who make Treacle Moon happen... the label reads:
"Take Charles Henry Nelson our rather random garden gnome whom we consult about all elements of creative and design... his lilac and yellow knitted socks are unusual but necessary... and there's Matilda Fizzbucket our bubbly chemist who has a cat with turquoise whiskers and of course me, Dunc and Sarah."
So with the story-telling on the bottle taking me in, does this bath & shower gel live up to it all?
Well, I've found that many bath & shower gels work well as either a bubble bath or a shower gel, but rarely work well as both. However, I've tried this as both a bubble bath and as a shower gel and I can say that Treacle Moon My Coconut Island Bath & Shower Gel works great as both!
Opening the lid on the bottle, you get a lovely whiff of creamy coconut - somewhere between coconut ice and toasty coconut marshmallow, in my opinion. It smells good enough to eat... However, common sense tells me not to do that, as does the bottle.
Firstly, I used it as a bubble bath. I poured some under the running water and swished the water around as usual. At first there didn't seem to be many bubbles appearing and I began to think maybe this wasn't such a good bubble bath, but the bubbles soon began to appear. By the time the bath had finished running I'd got a perfect amount of bubbles - not too many and not to few. The bubbles were nice & fluffy. I could smell a faint hint of the coconut while I relaxed in the bath. The water didn't feel as soft as it does with products such as Lush bubble bars, but that was to be expected. After all, Lush products are handmade premium bath products. Still, the bath water felt nice and I loved that faint scent of coconut.
I then tried it as a shower gel. I've found that you really don't need to use much of this to work it into a lather on your skin. It feels nice when massaging it onto my skin and it smells delicious! I certainly felt nice & clean after my shower. I also found that the scent of the gel remained on my skin for some time after... I'd be lying in bed with a book and catch the sweet coconut scent on my skin. Lovely!
Treacle Moon My Coconut Island Bath & Shower Gel comes in a 500ml clear bottle and is tested on humans not animals. It's available to buy exclusively from Tesco or directly from the Treacle Moon website (www.treaclemoon.net) for £2.97. My Coconut Island is also available as a gentle hand wash, a rich hand cream, a body scrub and a body butter. Other "flavours" by Treacle Moon include That Vanilla Moment, The Raspberry Kiss, One Ginger Morning and Those Lemonade Days. Lovely Mint will soon be released too.
While you can use Treacle Moon products guilt-free because they are not tested on animals, you can be safe in the knowledge that Treacle Moon support a charity called Khandel Light who work tirelessly to improve the lives of the vulnerable and disadvantaged families in Khandel and the villages surrounding it, located in the desert state of Rajasthan, India.
So all in all, I can whole-heartedly recommend Treacle Moon My Coconut Island Bath & Shower Gel and I'll certainly be trying out more Treacle Moon products.
I first used Treacle Moon coconut products when visiting my mums house, and it was the hand cream that got me sniffing my hands for hours afterwards!! So, when she bought me a bottle of the shower gel, I was more than chuffed, and have continued to purchase it myself at Tescos since. It is good value for money, and it does actually last a long time... especially considering I am fairly sure my boyfriend pinches it too!
As I said, it's the smell that first got me, and I continue to love it to this day. However, it does get a little sickly if you use a lot, so I can imagine that it might be too much for some people. It's almost as if there is another scent undertone, such as vanilla- not too sure! But, if you like coconut scented products you can't go far wrong with this.
I've not used it as a bubble bath, only as a shower gel. However, it lathers up very well, so I'd imagine you'd get some good bubbles out of this!!
I just thought i would write a short and sweet review about this product.
I first saw the product in a local super market around 3 pounds for 500 mls.
I really enjoy coconut baths and thought this one looked appealing. i opened the lid to smell as this is obviously one of the main factors about bathing, and i thought it smelt fantastic so i simply had to buy it to try it out. In fact the whole Treacle moon brand smelt great, but this one was the best.
I tried the product as a bath creme and a shower gel and in both cases i reallly cannot complain. The product smells great and leaves you smelling great and feeling fresh. Its fine on sensitive skin as it hasnt given me any problems.
The bottle is a fab size, so it lasts ages, especially as you dont need to use a lot to do the job, unlike other brands.
Overall a great product i would recommend to anyone wanting to unwind with a coconut aroma, relaxing and soothing your senses and leaving you to feel great.
I love coconut bath products, so when I was browsing Tesco for reasonably priced shower gel, Treacle Moon's My Coconut Island instantly caught my eye.
On the front of the bottle it says 'I'm going to a far away place she said.....just for a while...her toes wriggled in the warm sand and a silly seagull laughed and danced in the sweet wind', which definitely makes it sound tropical and intriguing - though with so much writing on the bottle, it may put some people off!
The bottle is actually mostly transparent so you can easily see how much you've got left, and has a standard flip top lid.
At under £3 for 500ml, it's cheaper than comparable Soap and Glory and Lush products, and I thought it was good value for money as I bought it a long time ago and I'm just coming to the end of the bottle. If you buy this, you will feel good because not only have you saved lots of money compared to say, a Body Shop version, but there's less packaging (as the bottles are bigger) and you'll get just as good a product.
The gel is a nice consistency - rich and thick enough so it's not cheap, but not so thick it feels slimy or greasy.
There are other scents in the range which I'm not interested in particularly as they don't compare to coconut (for me); however, they also do a coconut body scrub, which I can thoroughly recommend as well.
The one flaw with this product is that someone didn't proof read the writing on the bottle well enough! On mine, it talks about 'recipie' at least twice, and I can't decide if it's cute or just annoying!
"I'm going to a far away place she said.....just for a while...her toes wriggled in the warm sand and a silly seagull laughed and danced in the sweet wind"-I didn't write that it is on the front of this intriguing bubble bath and shower gel I picked up in Tesco a couple of weeks ago called "My Coconut Island"
As it was very inexpensive I have waited to review it as I wanted to see how it made my skin feel after a couple of weeks of daily use, as sometimes cheaper products can be harsh. So what follows is an honest account of this product which I have to confess I rather like!
First of all the price is good.-£2.89 for a large 500ml bottle. There are others in the collection to choose from including, Lemonade Days, That Vanilla Moment ,One Ginger Morning, as well as the rather tempting Raspberry Kiss. They also a do matching body scrub and hand wash too.
As far as I can determine there is no website as yet for Treacle Moon the company who make these, but you can write to them at 102 High Street, Barkway, Hertfordshire, SG8 8EF.
So this bottle promises a lot, a bath of bubbles and a shower gel too so it is multi purpose. When you buy the bottle which stands tall and contains a liquid which looks not dissimilar to coconut milk, the first thing you notice on flipping open the lid is the smell, it is really lovely. Very reminiscent of suntan lotion or after sun, and with a hint of almonds, and not dissimilar to the smell of a Malibu cocktail.
If you pour it under a running tap it yields a really good supply of frothy bubbles, which scent the bathroom with a heavenly coconut aroma, and the bubbles are long lasting too. As a shower gel the product is creamy, and I would even go so far as to say has a luxurious feel to it and it is moisturising as well.
The repeated use of this either as a bubble bath or as a shower gel, or as a bath soap has caused me no problems whatsoever over the two week period that I have used it. My skin has always felt moisturised, except for my legs which actually have a tendency to be dry whatever I use, but some products are distinct no-noes because they aggravate the problem, but this is certainly not detrimental at all to the condition.
It is actually a pleasure to use, it's a very reasonable price, and it's a fun and summer holiday reminding experience. It speaks flip flops, gentle waves, paddling and warmth, and for £2.89 that can't be bad at all!
