“ Brand: Virgin Vie / Type: Body Scrub / Subcategory: Polish / What it does: Exfoliates, „
I've used this product on and off for a few years now as a friend of mine was a Virgin Vie rep...
The tub is plastic which is unusual for VV as they are usually glass so bit disappointed with this, however the lid is good at sealing in the product and keeping it fresh...
To get the product out, you literally put your hand in and scoop out... I do find that this can get quite difficult as you get to the bottom to get your hand right in (or maybe I just have large hands?!) so I tend to get a spoon to give a helping hand..
The product is oil based so it can feel a bit weird when scooping out as its a mixture of harsh scrub which does include sea salt and the oil... however when applying it to your skin the oil does help it glide over your skin... As I mentioned above this is a really harsh scrub and I only used once a week. You should apply it to your skin and massage in a circular motion which is always good for helping rid your body of toxins. The salt scrub definitely works though as my skin did have a glow about it (the harshness of the scrub probably did that) and my skin was smoother..
The scrub used to cost £15.00 but I've since discovered that VV no longer sell this one and now sell a moisture body scrub which I have just ordered but you might be able to get this on eBay...
I have been using the Virgin Vie Day Spa Buff and Polish Salt Scrub for s few years now. I think Virgin has sold the company of something so if you are wanting some its now made by Vie at Home (same company but withought the 'Virgin' branding.
I will admit it is not the prettiest of pots to have out on display in your bathroom. There is nothing exciting about the look of this product! It looks exactly like the pic in the dooyoo catalogue. The pot itself is made of plastic but the lid has a big clip fastening it with a rubber seal around the edge.
As you look at the pot you will see that there is a layer of liquid sitting on top of the scrub itself. Do not drain this away like I thought you were supposed to as its some type of oil to moisturise! Oops. That was a few years ago though and I've not done it since. It's a nice big pot and holds 550g of product.
Open the lid and there is a very strong scent. Its difficult to pinpoint as there are a mixture of essential oils and things in here There is a slight lemony citrusy smell to it which is really nice. The main essential oil listed is a May Chang and according to the pot will revitalise the senses.
As the pot is nice and large taking the required amount from the pot is easy as you can just scoop it out with your hand. The scrub itself is quite greasy due to the oil and the exfoliating grains are really quite large. At first it does seem very harsh to rub in but I quite like it!?! Not sure why as its pretty rough and slightly scratchy. It is actually sea salt in there. If you imagine rubbing harsh sand into your skin its exactly like that.
Its very easy to apply, just massage into damp skin in a circular motion which as well as exfoliating will help to boot circulation. When you are done simply rinse it of, your skin will be left feeling super soft and silky. It is excellent to use if you shave your legs as the exfoliation will help give you a super smooth finish. I have found it to be much better than any other scrub claiming to do the same. Because it leaves you super smooth you can get away with shaving your legs for an extra day or 2 as well. I will just mention that it is not suitable to use on the face due to the harshness of it.
As already mentioned, the scent is quite strong so it lasts on your skin a good couple of hours after you have washed it off. Because the scent is so refreshing it really does wake you up in the morning and will leave you nice and moisturised throughout the day.
550g cost £15 which sounds like a lot but it does last quite a while as I have found that I don't need to use it more than a few times a week and because you simply get what you need out of the jar you don't have an excess that you have just squirted over the bathroom by accident. It is available from the Vie at Home website (delivery is £3.95) or you could think about holding a Vie party where they will demo the stuff for you at home. Thats how I bought it as I wouldn't have spent £15 on a body scrub usually but I loved it. Even if you don't want a party it may be worth seeing if you have a local rep and get them to order for you to save on delivery.
There is a long list of ingredients in here most of which are various oils and things I've never heard of so I'm not gonna list them here it not very interesting reading!
Top product - Buff and polish - does exactly as it says on the pot.
