~More lovely Lavender from Woods of Windsor~
The Woods of Windsor range has a wonderful array of products that are fragranced using traditional style recipes as their basis, which give them a lovely fragranced effect. Amongst the products that I have tried out is the Woods of Windsor Lavender Bath and Shower Gel, which I have used both as a stand alone item and as a means of layering the Woods of Windsor Lavender fragrance EDT that I rather like. As the product has been added to the Dooyoo database today after a product suggestion I am now able to share my thoughts about it in this review.
Over recent years the Woods of Windsor range has had a much needed facelift which I feel has given the lovely naturally scented products a whole new lease of life. The Woods of Windsor Lavender Bath and Shower Gel is now looking both up to date and appealing in its new and improved presentation and I feel this not only makes the product more attractive to buy for myself, it also sheds new light on viewing the product as a potential gift to give in a pamper basket or similar gift presentation.
The new style makes for a very nice looking product that has a bold use of colour yet still manages to convey the fact that this is a natural lavender based product. The box holds the Woods of Windsor Lavender Bath and Shower Gel safely and securely when in transit from store to home and the bottle is shaped in a sleek and modern way that is both attractive and easy to use. The bottle lid has a silver toned effect and in use it seems to close down well over the top of the bottle to give a secure closing to it with no leaks.
~Lather up with Lavender~
When in use I feel that the Woods of Windsor Lavender Bath and Shower Gel has a lovely soft and natural lavender scent that can fill a warm bathroom with a mass of steamy green lavender scent in a very short time. The best way to get a bubblicious bath with maximum bubbles is to pour a good amount of the Woods of Windsor Lavender Bath and Shower Gel into the top and then allow the running bath water to drizzle the gel into your bath. By doing this not only is the bath gel aerated slightly, allowing the true fragrance to waft through the air as well as into the bath water, it is also mixed into the flowing bath water to provide a mass of soft and creamy looking bubbles.
For those who prefer a less bubbly bath you can add the Woods of Windsor Lavender Bath and Shower Gel after the water has been run into the bath and still get a pretty lavender based scent from the product with just handful of bubbles. For use as a shower gel the texture of the gel is not too runny or thick and it will lather up well if used with a bath scrunchie or similar item, to give a good all over scented wash. I feel this makes it a versatile product that can be used in the bath or shower as your mood suits, with good effect.
Woods of Windsor say that the product contains vitamin E which has been added (in their words) to 'help protect the skin and leave it soft, smooth and protected'. Having used the product I feel that the best softening effects are achieved when using the product on the bath as a lavender scented bubbly bath soak, as this does seem to give the best skin softening results. When using the product the signature Woods of Windsor Lavender scent really comes through well as it mixes in with warm musk, camomile and aromatic patchouli to give a nice scented effect on the skin.
Once out of the bath or shower the fragranced effect lingers in the bathroom and beyond for some time which is rather nice, although the effect on the skin does fade unless topped up with the matching fragrance EDT and / or some of the other lavender scented products from the range. If wanting to follow up with another lavender based fragrance EDT or EDP from a different range you can do so with ease as the Woods of Windsor Bath Gel seems to blend in well with a good range of these types of fragrances. Further layering with the use of the matching body lotion and body dusting powder will make for a nice coordinated feel although it is not in any way essential.
~Price and rating~
At £8.25 for a 250ml bottle of Woods of Windsor Lavender Bath and Shower Gel it may seem a little pricey when compared to bog standard bath and shower care products and as such value for money may not seem as good as with some of the other products from the Woods of Windsor range. If you plan to use the product as an occasional pampering treat then it should provide a good number of baths or showers and last a good length of time if used spraingly. Slapping on too much of the product is a waste as it is not a cheap buy and so I would suggest it is best kept for those indulgent bathing moments rather than daily usage. Over all I feel this is a nicely scented product that works really well with the rest of the range and as such it is something I will use again in future. Taking into account everything mentioned here I feel that the Woods of Windsor Lavender Bath and Shower Gel is deserving of a 4 star product rating with the only slight down side being the price, which I would have liked to have been just a little less.
