Perfect shower gel for Christmas and throughout the year

*~*Introduction*~* As anyone who regularly reads my reviews will know I have rather a penchant for beauty items, particularly from the likes of Yves Rocher. Though I review them regularly I only actually buy from the french company every few months where I make the most of 2 for 1 and buy one get one free offers, so my products do normally last me a good while. Just before Christmas last year I ordered quite a few items, as around October time each year they always have a special selection of Christmas products all with a festive theme and Christmas 2011 main theme was 'Marvelous Fruit' (this is how it is spelt on the packaging by the way) and this review will now focus entirely on my experience of using the shower gel by the same name.. *~*Price, packaging & availability*~* The packaging for this shower gel is in the form of an upright standing fully recyclable plastic bottle. The bottle is a large 300 ml in size, and is slimline from the side view whilst it's appearance from the front is one that is far wider and tapers in gently towards the top in soft rounded curves. The plastic has a slight transparency though it is mainly frosted with an iridescent appearance though it is possible to see the shower gel quite clearly despite this, and it's plain to see that it is a rich and warm orange in colour. To access the gel there is a small flip top lid which is perched directly on top of the bottle. There isn't much of a overhanging lip so it's quite difficult to actually get hold of at first and is quite difficult to open at first, though after a while it is easier to grips with as it does loosen somewhat. Apart from a sticker on the front of the bottle depicting a festive scene of a golden tree bearing orange fruits, and snowflakes and tiny stars also in gold and white there is little else in the form of decoration, though the lid is in a bright orange so stands out nicely and overall the packaging is quite aesthetically pleasing and certainly has an air of festiveness about it. Price wise - this is still available despite it being a Christmas themed product though stock is probably limited - and when I purchased this last year it was priced at a reasonable £1.95. As Yves Rocher isn't really known for their low prices I deemed this to be an absolute bargain given the fact the 300 ml size bottle is large enough for family use for at least 2 to 3 weeks if not longer. As per usual this and other YR products can be purchased directly from their website @www.yves-rocher.co.uk, alternatively you can phone their customer service and order line on 0870 049 22 22 or buy in store. There are also a number of YR items readily available on Ebay where I have found some real bargains over the years so its always worth remembering this. *~*My experience of using this*~* I love Yves Rocher products, but when it comes to their special festive collections I get even more excited as the products awaken memories of previous Christmases and as it is one of my favourite times of the year then I love anything related to this period. The shower gel appealed instantly when I read what Yves Rocher had to say about it "..Succumb to this perfumed shower gel, Inspired by the Marvelous Scents of Christmas. It's gentle foam, plunges you into its sweet greedy notes.." and I have to admit I couldn't wait to try it! As Christmas was approaching in early December, I put the Christmas tree up and had various decorations dotted about in my living room so thought it only befitting that my Christmas toiletries should make an appearance as well. Along with the shower gel I also purchased matching items (though these will be reviewed separately) and were placed in my bathroom for using, along with adding a bit of Christmas appeal and glamour to the bathroom at the same time. On finally getting open the lid and almost breaking my nail at the same time, I was met with a beautiful aroma that really did evoke memories that are traditionally associated with Christmas. The first thing I noticed was a rich and warm scented aroma that was domineered at first by clementines and was fruity yet sweet at the same time. After a few moments I could detect warm winter spices and though there seemed to be a hint of ginger it's the cinnamon that stood out the most to me. On applying to my skin I was pleased that the fragrance seemed more intensified and had such an authentic scent that wasn't remotely artificial. The gel emits from the bottle with relative ease given the fact it is of a fairly thick consistency, though on pouring it does have a 'gloopy' feel about it which seems to make it pour easier and doesn't 'blob' out like some thicker gels can. The shower gel has a typical texture of feeling slightly greasy to touch but once it hits my skin and water is added into the equation it explodes in a mass of creamy bubbles which is caused by the gel lathering up instantly. Cleaning wise I have no complaints about this at all as it thoroughly cleansed my skin whilst adding a touch of moisture at the same time. Some gels can leave my skin feeling taut afterwards, and although I always apply a body lotion/ cream after bathing I would feel confident enough not to have to do this after using Marvelous Fruits. *~*Recommended?*~* This is a lovely scented shower gel, and though yes, it does have that 'Christmas aroma' attached to it it is also suitable for using anytime of the year that is of course availability wise. I did actually purchase 2 of these shower gels and am currently nearing the end of my second bottle having used sparsely, though my first bottle lasted from early December through to early January giving around 3 and a 1/2 to 4 weeks of constant use. Because such a small amount is needed per application I found it lasted a very impressive amount of time and given the cheap pricing this was an extremely economic purchase. My children used this now and again as they wanted to 'smell like Christmas' and said they really liked the fragrance, whilst my husband - who will use whatever is in the bathroom - did say on many occasions just how nice and zesty this came across as. I have never had a problem with YR products and my skin, which is one of the reasons why I buy from them time and time again, and this shower gel was no exception to the rule either. Both myself and my two sons have slightly sensitive skin (mine also borders on being dry) and this shower gel didn't cause any soreness, rashes or tightness after using and as mentioned it actually left my skin feeling moisturised after each use. The fragrance lingers delicately on the skin for several hours afterwards and as I purchased matching products I found this the perfect base to help intensify the fragrance. *~*Conclusion*~* A beautifully fragranced shower gel, and I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it at all. It thoroughly cleanses, softens, hydrates and smells wonderful.
