A great set of scales, particuarly for tiled bathroom floors

One issue I very often experience with bathroom scales is the fact that they can have too smooth a surface, and this can present a hazard. In a bathroom environment, where there can often be water or soap product spillages, this can be dangerous when stepping onto a set of scales. Thus, I was looking for a model that was endowed with a textured surface, or a similar attribute that would deliver increased safety.

The Guzzini scales met my requirements nicely in this respect, as the two textured pads on its surface reduce slippage and also direct you exactly where to put your feet to deliver an accurate reading. The pads are fashioned from a rubbery substance that is textured. Increased stability also comes from the fact that each pad is comprised of four smaller pads, thus increasing the texture of the area. Another benefit of this material is the fact that when you step onto the scales on a cold morning the rubber pads do not feel as icy as the glass or plastic from which the surface of many scales is comprised.

I prefer 'dial' scales over digital scales, as I do not like to worry about replacing batteries, and have always found traditional scales to offer a more accurate reading. The dial on the Guzzini scales is set out in stones, and I have always found its reading to be very accurate when I have weighed myself on other scales to test its ability.

I have a tiled bathroom, and I have found that some scales, depending on the design of their underside, have a tendency to scratch or mark said flooring. This product is equipped with two rubbery panels on its underside that separate the body of the machine from the floor. This greatly reduces the chance of the scales causing damage to tiled floors, although it does mean sliding the scales across the floor cannot be achieved in a smooth movement.

The scales are very efficient and lightweight, so are easily portable. Aesthetically the scales are not the most attractive I have ever seen, but they do have many attributes that go some way to counterbalancing this drawback. This is a reliable product that I would particularly recommend to those who have tiled bathroom floors.
