Salter scales are a very well known and highly thought of brand of scales and as such is the brand that most of my family decide to buy. My Mum's scales had recently broke when my dad dropped them (whoops) my Mum brought these ones to replace her current scales.
APPEARANCE OF PRODUCT
The scales consist of a very solid, glass rounded square with four round grey circles in each corner, which are used to calculate your body fat. The scales are digital and so have an LCD screen at the top of the scales, 1.1'' in size, embedded in a black rubber band. To me the scales are very unique looking, quite modern, but would fit into anyone's bathroom. The scales have a maximum weight of 600kg/25st/350lb making them suitable to almost anyone. The scales are battery operated and as such come with batteries. The scales also come with a 15 years guarantee, which would be the longest I have ever had any scales work for.
FEATURES AND USE
The scales have three uses normal weighing, BMI and body fat percentage. We only brought them for weighing ourselves with, so we were not too interested in these other two features. The scales can weigh you in stones, lbs or kilograms, depending on which you prefer. You can change the unit of measurement by a switch on the bottom of the LCD screen To weigh yourself simply tap them to turn them on, stand on the top and waiting for the LCD screen to display your weight. The LCD screen is nice a larger making it really easy to read your weight first thing in the morning when your still not quite with it. The scales come with instructions how to get the scales to calculate your BMI and body fat percentage. I have never used them myself, but my understanding is to type in a few details about yourself, such as sex, height, age etc then step on the grey metal circles and wait a few seconds. They send a tiny current through your feet, which you can't feel and then it displays your BMI and body fat percentage.
Overall I found these scale easy to use, nice looking, easy to clean and extremely accurate as they matched weighing taken by my doctor. So they definitely lived up to their trust brand name.
We brought these scales in Tesco's while on the usual weekly shop. They cost about £10, which makes them nice and cheap for the scales with as many features as these, plus you would of expect them to cost more with the brand name of Salter. I believe they are available in most good supermarkets, but you may have to check the websites before you go to buy them.
A great set of scales that I would definitely buy again.
When it came to furnishing my new flat one of the first things I purchased were bathroom scales. As someone who has had an eating disorder they feature highly as something I need cos if I can't weight myself I lose my mind and I appreciate keeping of track of my weight although now I do try as best as I can to live a healthy lifestyle.
I spotted these in Asda costing a mere £10.00 and snapped them up! Salter is a name I am very much aware of and they looked nice as well as looking like easy scales to use. After-all I'm not bothered about body fat or anything I just want to watch my weight so want some that I can simply step on and off from with no fuss and read my weight instantly!
The scales come in a mainly white box to which the back and front appear the same. I am told that they are Salter Electronic Glass Bathroom Scale (this information is given in foreign languages too) and that they have a 15 year guarantee, the maximum weight for standing on them is 600kg/25st/350lb and that the scales already include a lithium battery within them. Other information on the box tells me that they are a high capacity scale and that they have an easy read 28mm/1.1" LCD Display and that they contain a strong tempered safety glass platform with chrome accents. Nice informative sturdy box and of course I found it to be informative enough.
The scales themselves are nice and plain to look at which is what drew my attention to them in the first place. Not too thick but sturdy and strong to stand on, the top is glass and underneath that you can see the silver chrome fixtures holding said glass on and to the top of the scales in silver writing I am told that they are Salter and there is a large enough and easy to read LCD display.
All you do with these is simply stand on them. Via a small switch on the bottom you set them prior to use to read your weight in kg, lbs or stones. They simply read your weight in couple of seconds and then display noughts and switch them-self off. It's that simple!
In my opinion not only are these lovely looking scales they are really, really simple to use. Easy to clean......just wipe them over with a glass cleaner and a cloth when desired, I find them incredibly accurate each and every time and they really are very sturdy indeed for the heavier amongst us!
These to me are the perfect bathroom scales in every way. They are none slip and robust (I dropped a glass bottle on them the other day and no damage at all was caused!) and look pretty! Great Salter I love these and will in the future look to your brand for anything else I need to purchase!
Available in all good supermarkets etc and mine were purchased in Asda!
